Well, I already had a ressie for a full size car using Costco discount code & coupon, so that's my back up plan. Today I made another ressie using the 7011111 code and got a minivan for the same price (within a few bucks). If they want some kind of proof at check-in, I'll just go with my original ressie for the full size car.

Hi,So there is NO PENALTY for holding and NOT canceling a second reservation with the same company(Alamo)?? I have a CHEAPER SUV res. with the 7011111 code and a FULL size car res. with the Walmart code 430710 for the same dates in July. I have always made multiple reservations with Alamo and canceled all but the one I would use BEFORE my trip started. Thanks for the clarification. Joan

Alamo's official policy on No Shows, of course if you don't have a CC on file with them, they can't charge a fee. This would be applicable to guaranteed reservations.

No Show

In the case of a "no show" of a customer, the reservation will be canceled. Alamo charges a fee on the renters credit card for vehicles that are reserved but not rented, if the reservation was not canceled within 24 hours of the anticipated arrival.

Cancellations are accepted up to one calendar day before reservation date. If the reservation is not cancelled, a No Show Fee of $50.00 (plus applicable taxes, surcharges, and lessor fees) will be charged to the credit card on the Guaranteed Reservation.

Guaranteed Reservations are required on all specialty vehicles, such as minivan, 4-wheel drive, and convertible car classes at all Corporate locations and at participating licensee locations.

I wouldn't be surprised, if at some time down the road, we start seeing car rental companies insisting on a cc at the time of booking, and then charging a fee for cancel (or no shows) less than 12 hrs before the pickup time.

Was anyone able to find out where the 211220 contract ID is from? I'd like to know if I'm eligible to use it since it offers a big savings with Alamo?

No one seems to know---including google. That almost always means it's an employer-specific code or something similar. Use at your own risk.

Its either for residents of Puerto Rico and in that case you may be asked to show a Puerto Rican DL when you pick the car up or its if you booked through a South American tour company, and again, you may be asked to prove it.

I just got back from my trip and I did have a ressie booked with this code. They did say they had to refuse to give me the code. Somehow, I was able to sweet talk the clerk, and he let me keep my reservation, but he had an alert pop up on his screen, asking him to get my ID. I would NOT advise anyone to use this code. WAY too risky. :scared1:

Which code did you have reserved - 211220 or 7011111? What kind of ID did they ask for? There is so much confusion around these codes, no one seems to know exactly what kind of ID they actually require. Lots of speculation about TA ID, but no one can verify it. :sad2:

The only people confused are the ones who don't qualify.

Perhaps it is not even a real code. Maybe it is a made up code Alamo has put out there to see how quickly it spreads. It could be a test for their employees too. :confused3

Hopefully my experience can help since there is so much speculation out there about this code. I used 211220, and they were looking for a travel agent ID for a specific travel agency out of Puerto Rico. He did say that the code was 'red flagged', as I tried to use the kiosk, and it would not allow it.

If I could have found any price closeby, I would have gone with it. However, it was a last minute trip, during Easter week, and the closest price was $280 more.

From what I've been able to figure out from these boards and others the codes came from:

211220 - Need to have been booked through a Puerto Rican travel agency and have a Puerto Rican Driver's License.

7013614 - Need to have been booked through a South American travel agency and have a South American Driver's License.

7011111 - Travel Agent code and may need to show some sort of Travel Agent identification.

Alamo said 7011111 was not a travel agent code but said it was called "Travel Time FA". What that means, I do not know.

You can bet this code is now red flagged (as stated in the previous post) because of everyone emailing Alamo to 'see if this code was good'. There are other posts on this thread about people using this code, and using it successfully before this onslaught of emails and calls to Alamo to see if it was good to use.

It is not too hard to comprehend that you are using a code AT YOUR OWN RISK. I really don't know what all these calls/emails to Alamo will solve?

I had this code used for my upcoming trip, and now it seems they have red-flagged this because of everyone bothering them about it. WHAT IS SO HARD about having a back-up reservation in case they caught this at the counter??? (this is what I'm doing). Instead, people choose to bludgeon Alamo wanting verification if the code is 'good', and now they might have shut it down.

I used the 7011111 code with no problem this past week.

I don't think anyone is objecting to having a backup reservation. We usually have more than one (especially in trying to find the best rate). But we do cancel them w/in the specified time frame and I do not want to wait until we get up to the counter to find out whether or not we can rent using a specific code concurrent with a reservation.

If we consider using a code we like to know what it is and if we're eligible for it. There are so many codes out there, coming from a multitude of sources. Checking to see if one is available to certain customers is a natural part of the booking process, IMHO.

It's not "shut down" if you actually qualify for it.

snowbunny, if the worst thing I do in my life is use an Alamo code that I 'may' not be entitled to, then I've lived a pretty good life. So you can use that  emoticon all day, because to be quite honest, there is ALOT worse things I could be doing.

AND, I'm sorry to tell you that if I can save $100+ dollars on my reservation, you best believe that I will use that South American (or whatever) code that I can use. Just think of it as stimulating the AMERICAN economy.

Seriously, some of you people really need to loosen up........
