http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1938243

its no where as detailed or as many pictures as Rebecca's but I thought I would share just the same.

Rebecca I borrowed two of your pictures and gave you credit, so thanks for having your camera ready. And one of Buffy's too. Thanks.

DH said I can go to one...as long as I give up my therapeutic glass of wine to pay for it:lmao: However I'd have to give up his as well to cover what I'd spend out there:rolleyes1 , and its a long way for a couple of days so maybe I'll look for a CKU in the UK - I know they had one in Stratford-on-Avon this year.

Anyone coming over for one if its somewhere nice? I'll do a London tour if anyone wants one:thumbsup2

Here are photos of my tags from my class with Sally Lyn- I loved it and learned lots of new techniques. I am looking forward to getting some new products for my birthday or Christmas so I can use them again.

Rebecca - those tags are TOO stinkin' cute!
May have to do more classes next year!

I would like to take more classes next year- of course I might want to go to the parks more too. Not staying up late every night beforehand to watch the Olympics though might make a late night or 2 at SDV easier. I think I want to try and caome in on the first day next year instead of waiting until Friday.

Too neat! Where are you in Connecticut? I'm in Newtown. I'll be facepainting at the Labor Day parade tomorrow in front of 'My Place' on Queen Street if you are in the area.

Yep, little walking canvases -- nothing is safe from paint and ink!

Happy Labor Day!

I'm out by the casinos. I wish we had made it to your parade but DH and I took our youngest to WDW for the weekend.

I can't wait to take some Sally Lyn classes next year!

I'm sooo ready, how many more days???

I didn't go this year, but I'm chiming in anyway on this. I'm married to an EMT, and I have to say those women are just lucky that the fire marshal did say something, and they moved their stuff. IF someone had gotten ill, like Carol said, and the paramedics arrived on the scene, they would have shoved, moved, pushed, thrown, whatever it took to get to the patient. Peoples things would be ruined. Just a side note on that. I know it wasn't you guys doin' the complaining. But he did them a favor...
I was at SDV too. And we spoke to the FM ... according to her the table pods should have been 10 feet apart (end to end) and there should have been 6 feet between chair backs when the chairs were in use. Instead the spacing between the pods was less than half that amount.

That irked me ... it also irked me that Nancy didn't take responsibility for not having the tables spaced properly according to the fire codes ... her event her responsibility to make sure the codes are met. And no, I didn't bring a ton of stuff b/c I flew in. I had a CM album tote with my supplies in it, but I didn't like having to "table dive" every time I needed something from my tote.

Technically it's Disney's responsibility to have the tables up to code. It is their hotel after all and they are the ones who set the venue up, the fire marshall should be there ahead of time to designate space. Should Nancy work with them? Absolutely, however her responsibility is to provide Disney with head count, Disney knows the Fl occupancy codes so they are the ones who need to set the tables up according to local law.

I agree we should not have to table dive to get our stuff but people didn't need to bring their entire scrap rooms either. They shouldn't be bringing 3 foot high plastic shelving units and 4 XXL bags. Sorry but you don't need "everything" for a 4 day scrapfest, even if it is 72 hours of cropping. (you as in the general you, not the specific you). A little pre planning goes a long way, in fact I have already starting planning for next year.

The thing that irked me the most was the sense of entitlement that a few ladies had about the fact that they had been to X amount of SDV's and the fire codes didn't apply to them (yes they actually said this). Nancy did also offer additional space for those who needed it, so there was no reason to take up 1/2 the aisle with stuff.

What I would like to see if is someone is going to empty their bag, then have a coat check type situation where you get a tag/ticket with your number or name on it, and Disney provides a room for you to store your bag in.
I had 1 backpack, 1 plastic tote (which I emptied), and 1 small rolling bag, for myself and my mom. The backpack and tote could have been stored elsewhere.

I foresee Nancy changing the rules, like her no strollers rule, to include no XXL bags, rolling coolers etc. Next year should be interesting, especially if it goes back to the Contemporary, since I do believe their convention space is smaller than the Yacht Club's.

Every state has different requirements by the FM. Yes, Nancy should be aware of these requirements, but it is not her responsibility to make sure the room is set up to the standards. In the past I did meeting planning and also depended on the hotel where the meeting was being held to meet any requirements. Now Disney had no way of knowing that people would be moving in lock, stock and barrel to this event. I know when I first arrived and saw the set ups (my first SDV) I felt like I needed to go to a store and get more stuff. :rotfl2: There was just no reason for people to bring so much stuff. Plan, plan, plan!!! And if you forget something go get it from a vendor or make a note to add such and such to a page when you return home. I specifically was working on Christmas pages because I knew that would limit the product I would need to bring. As it was I didn't get many pages done because I was putting the finishing touches on my class projects. Like it was previously mentioned the group of ladies across the aisle from our table were constantly tripping over their own bags and cooler. They were one of the unhappy ones having to move their stuff out of the aisles. But it was a problem for anyone trying to get through there. People just need to be more considerate of others, and I have to say at this event there were plenty of scrappers with a "look at all the stuff I own" attitude. I wonder if the FM would have had a problem with the room if there had not been so much stuff in the aisles??? Regardless of the problem I still had a great time and am looking forward to August 2009.

I totally agree with BAMB! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

It's up to the ones who physically set up the room & approve the set up (Disney event staff) to know their specific local codes and keep up with any changes of the codes.

One of the perks of staying nearby (most probably do) is you can take your empty and/or excessive bags back to your room - and run get stuff if you need it.

I, too, am irked by that feeling of entitlement - that the laws don't apply to them. :sad2:

I will be watching to see if SDV 2009 stays at the Yacht/Beach Club venue or goes to the possible smaller Contemporary location. I, for one, will bring less stuff since I'm flying in 2009.
Just my 2 cents.

Does anyone have any photos of the entire room, like an overhead shot? I meant to take one, but all the excitement caused temporary insanity!

And I think it was Princess Nancy who asked for the instructions for the Minnie Chipboard Album. I'm working on finding them---when I do, I'll send you a pm!

Thanks Diana Lyn!!! I figured if you are like me.. it takes days to unpack!!! :)

Well, it hasn't helped that I came back from SDV Sunday night, then Wednesday my family came down from NJ and Thursday we all packed up and went to WDW until Monday night. Needless to say, I'm still exhausted and getting to the scrap stuff was down on the priority list. I have PTO tonight and a bunch of stuff tomorrow. This weekend I'll definitely find it!!

I cannot find where my DH put the photos. As soon as I do, I'll post some and I need to send some to Kim.

If anyone is interested in the Minnie Dress Album, pm me your email. DH took the directions to work today to use his handy dandy scanner that automatically puts the pages together into a pdf file, so I'll be able to send it out today sometime. :woohoo:

And Buffy---let me know how much $$ to send you for the SDV album swap. I'll also send you my address.

AWM, thanks for posting those! Tell DH great job. Top pix shows MomE, me :cutie:, and Denni scrapping away.

I think that is one of the few pictures of the three of us together, and to show the whole hall too, bonus!

Diana Lyn, do you have the pictures for the ATC? I would love to see.:)
