Do MasterCard and BoA not count 5/24?

I believe I get the 5% from office stores with my biz Ink, too. I've never taken advantage of it, though. It would work for GCs like Disney, right? Do they ever have cards for Southwest? Or for hotels, Air B&B, or VRBO? That could be a big savings.

Thanks for all the responses! I won't hesitate to apply for the Sapphire now. 😀

The Sams card and BOA card will count against your 5/24. I have the Sams card and never use it for gas. Well, I never use it period. lol It only gets used once a year to charge my Sams membership. I find URs much more valuable than Sams credit.

Unless you have the old old old Ink Plus (i believe this went away in 2016 to new applications) then you probably do not have the 5% from office stores. There are currently 3 Ink business cards,
The Preferrred (CIP) - $95 AF plus 3% back on travel, shipping, internet, cable, phone and advertising and 1% on everything else
The Cash (CIC) $0 AF plus 5% back at office supply stores, internet, cable and phone, 2% gas and restaurants and 1% everywhere else
the Unlimited (CIU) 0$ AF and straight 1.5% back on everything

If you really just have the CIU you might consider changing it to the CIC for at least 2% back on gas. Then if you redeem those points in the CSP portal they are worth 1.25x on travel, or you can move them to Hyatt or Southwest for better values. I do think you getting the CSP and then DH getting CSP will be most bang for your buck right now over the Sams card.

Question on PCing my Freedom to a CSR: I just maxed my Q2 5% over the weekend. Do I need to wait until statement close before PCing in order to get the 5% credit?

Each issuing bank has its own set of rules; 5/24 is what we know for Chase. BoA has its own rules, 2/12 if you don't have another account (checking, CD, etc.) with them. Here's more info on BoA's rules at this LINK on DoC's website. Mastercard is a payment network processor and is not a bank itself; the Sam's Club Mastercard is issued by Synchrony Bank, and there's not a lot of info available about that bank. I think it's because it doesn't really have cards offering bonuses that people are interested in (they seem to be more store-specific), so there are less datapoints to discern patterns.

@WVMomof3 is right about the CIU only getting 1.5% from office stores, and I think her suggestion to pc that card to the CIC is worth strong consideration. You would miss out on the CIC's SUB ($500 for $3000 spend) if you did that, but since Chase is battening down the hatches on biz approvals, who knows if you could get approved for a CIC application nowadays anyway. You could try and see what happens. If you've already applied for the CSP, you'll need to wait at least 30 days before your next application for a Chase card though. You should read this very helpful post for some good info about Chase and credit card applications:

Approvals may be tightening up these days though, as banks are eying the record unemployment rates and worrying about their overall exposure. Nothing personal, just the reality of our present circumstances having impacts. If the CIU is your only credit card, and because Chase business cards don't report to your personal credit report, your credit score may be affected by that if you don't have other credit accounts (e.g. car loans, mortgage) that support your credit-worthiness.

I see this on my account. I'm tempted to use 80,000 MR points to buy $1,000 in HD gift cards and sell them to Raise for about $840.
Do you have a Schwab Plat? Your 80K MR would be worth $1000 cash out. With the current mobile phone and streaming credits monthly, in addition to its other benefits, it's worth a look. 60K is the standard SUB on it, which you could cash out for $750. You would need to open a Schwab account too ($100+ bonus possible, see Dischurners) in order to cash out.

So once you get your money into your Schwab account, are you required to put it in the stock market (actually not a bad deal lately, but I digress), or can you then use it as bank account cash to spend?

You can just deposit into the Schwab brokerage account, there are no requirements to invest it. You would want to link the Schwab One brokerage account to the Schwab High Yield Investor checking account if you want the cash to spend. The checking account comes with a chip & PIN Visa debit card, and Schwab will reimburse you for any ATM fees. When I first set up my Schwab accounts back in 2015 (mostly because I wanted the ATM card for international travel), I think I only deposited $20 into the brokerage, and then some cash into the checking account to cover ATM withdrawals for my trip. I had $20 sitting in my brokerage account for years until last year when I decided to transfer more money over to Schwab. Their checking makes for a great hub account too. And they are free, there's no monthly charge for the accounts.

Cool, Thanks! That will alter my direction a bit in the future. I didn't really want another active investment account, and that's what I always assumed it was earmarked for.

No--I have a regular platinum that I'll be keeping for another year. Can I get a CS Platinum if I have a regular one? I have space (two charge cards and three credit cards).

Yes, there is no issue with having both platinum cards, both DH and I have a CS Plat and the regular Plat. You could even get a Morgan Stanley Plat as they are all considered separate products. (I haven’t gone that far myself.)

So... I used a referral link from reddit for the CSP, and it let me apply, but I was instantly denied. :(
It said they would send me feedback in 7-10 business days. Email? Snail mail?
I checked my credit score with my credit union before applying and it's 663. So, not great, but on the low end of "good". It said I have too few credit accounts. That's what I'm trying to fix! Lol.
And it could just have do with the way the financial world is looking right now. Although, my husband and I are doing better financially than we have in a long time. But, they can't see that.
So now I have to wait a bit before applying to Chase again, right? Should I just go for the BoA Cash Rewards card in the meantime and get that $200 bonus and their cashback rewards, and hopefully it will help my credit score? (IF I'm approved for that one.) Then try Chase again in a couple (or 3?) months?
Thanks for all your help in the last couple of days! You guys are amazing!

So sorry...for the CSP...the credit score could be an issue...I seem to recall seeing for that card they look for 700 and up.
You could try for the Chase Freedom Unlimited...its a no annual fee card, earns 1.5 on all purchases and has a $200 bonus after spending $500 in the first 3 months.
Looking online it seems like 650 and up is ok, but nothing is updated with the current situation.
There are support links for the CFU as well so If you were approved you could then send your DH a link so you would get $100 and your DH the $200
I’m not familiar with BOA cards, sorry so can’t give any advice...hopefully others can h

You can call the Chase status line and go though the automated system to check the status. I think the website says 7-10 days always, but you want to see if it says two weeks. Number is 1-888-338-2586

Unfortunately she said it was an instant denial

I recently got both DH and I Schwab Plats. Set up brokerage and checking and applied for cards a week later. Site is user friendly and I was easily able to link funds to primary account easily. I only funded both through MR cash out. Just don’t anger Amex by cashing out Schwab immediately...keep money in there for awhile.

Thank you. I'm an Amex virgin, but may start collecting MRs after a couple more Chase cards that I like
