Evening reception link below - I would have loved to have seen some of the dresses. Hers was so beautiful, lovely on her. But it's nice that they had the privacy.

Looks like a hell of a lot of fun. :thumbsup2
But then again dancing with Idris Elba - or just looking at him - pretty well covers a hell of a lot of fun.

Oooh! Wedding Reception Luncheon details!
This is actually in the afternoon, lisaviolet, right after the wedding.

Copying & printing for everyone. Some people reading from cellphones might not be able to read it off the link. I got a pop-up a couple times.

Inside the Royal Wedding Reception: Beer Pong, D.J. Idris Elba, and George Clooney Dancing with Two Duchesses
Unlike at William and Kate’s wedding, the A-list stars stuck around through the night for Harry and Meghan’s nuptials.

Windsor had never hosted a royal wedding quite like it. And it’s safe to say Frogmore House, the backdrop to Saturday’s wedding-night party for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle (a.k.a. the Duke and Duchess of Sussex), had never seen so many A-listers admire its beautifully manicured gardens.
May 21, 2018 7:41 am

New details have emerged of the super-exclusive black-tie dinner and dance, which was held in a tent on the grounds of Frogmore House, where just 200 guests got the “golden ticket” of the day. Prince Charles hosted the evening event and personally greeted every guest alongside Camilla, William, and Kate.

According to The Sun, a lavish three-course supper, which included locally sourced pork belly, was washed down with vintage Pol Roger Champagne. As Vanity Fair reported in the weeks leading up to the wedding, the couple hired posh party planners Fait Accompli to help them plan the evening, which was full of surprises.

There were heartfelt speeches from Harry and Meghan, in a breach of tradition, along with a touching tribute from the best man, Prince William, who said he was thrilled to welcome Meghan to the family. According to one insider, “It was heartfelt and funny, just the right balance. Diana was mentioned of course and William said Meghan was the best thing to happen to Harry.”

Charles and Camilla left shortly before 11 to “leave the young ones to it,” but not before James Corden, who played comedian and compere for the night, instigated an impromptu dance-off that saw Charles, William, and Harry take to the dance floor with Meghan and her mother, Doria Ragland. Meanwhile, the bride’s share of celebrity pals who were also invited to the event ensured it stayed suitably A-list.

Unlike William and Kate’s wedding party in 2011, where many big names departed after the wedding breakfast, the biggest stars were invited to the wedding party, including George and Amal Clooney, (George was one of the last guests standing), Sir Elton John, Meghan’s co stars from Suits, Serena Williams, and Priyanka Chopra. The Daily Mirror reported that Clooney waltzed Kate and Meghan around the dance floor before a spectacular fireworks display capped off the evening.

Given that Harry met Meghan at Soho House, the Soho House crew, including founder Nick Jones, Markus Anderson, and publicist Isabelle May, was also there to celebrate with the newlyweds, and had helped with the late-night snacks, which included posh burger stands and Soho House-inspired personalized cocktails. One was a rum and ginger-based drink called “When Harry Met Meghan,” which was served in floats and stalls in the gardens of Frogmore House.

During dinner, Meghan gave a moving speech in which she thanked her mother for her unfaltering support not just on her wedding day, but “my whole life.” She also thanked her new father-in-law, Prince Charles, for gallantly walking her down the aisle and Harry’s entire family for making her feel so welcome.

Ensuring that her beloved dog, Guy, didn’t miss out on the excitement, the canine, who arrived in Windsor in a blacked-out Land Rover alongside none other than Queen Elizabeth, joined the party, too.

Harry also had guests close to tears when he thanked them for making him “me” and told his wife he couldn’t wait to spend the rest of his life with her. There were cheeky references to Harry’s wild past when his friends Charlie van Straubenzee and Tom Inskip took to the stage along with William to tease Harry about his baldness, but there was no mention of the prince’s now-infamous bachelor weekend in Vegas.

There were plenty of special touches on the night—from cotton-candy stands to slippers for those in high heels and personalized goody bags to take home—while guest Idris Elba took to the decks to play soul classics along with D.J. Sam Totolee. There were even drinking games, including beer pong.

While cameras were banned on the night itself (phones were handed in at the start), many guests managed to sneak in their smartphones to take snaps of the night. Gabriel Macht, Meghan’s Suits co-star, took to Instagram to send the couple a message: “May your journey together be full of love and children,” he wrote, while his wife, Jacinda Barrett, commented: “What a beautiful and joyous day today was. I danced when Elton John sang, laughed at Prince Charles’ fantastic speech, and am honored to witness your love for each other.”

The newlyweds left just after midnight for Windsor Castle, where the Queen had arranged for them to spend their first night as man and wife in one of the state rooms. The couple have delayed their honeymoon to Africa until later this year. On Tuesday, they will attend their first official engagement as husband and wife at a garden party at Buckingham Palace with Prince Charles.

Vanity Fair has the Suits cast at the evening reception, but others have them karaoke full steam ahead elsewhere. Maybe some of them were invited or it was afterwards.

Actually the article said they were at the after party luncheon reception that all 600 invited guests went to. But, the after-after party that Prince Charles hosted for only 200 guests, none of her Suits co-stars made the cut.

Without a Royal Wedding Reception Invite, the Cast of Suits Took to Karaoke
When you can’t go to the party, bring the party to you.

After Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding came the luncheon at Windsor Castle. And after that after-party was the after-after-party at Frogmore House. That’s the one where George Clooney waltzed with two duchesses and James Corden demanded a dance-off between William, Harry, and Charles. The one that offered cotton-candy stands and beer pong. The one with speeches from the couple themselves and the one where even Meghan’s dog, Guy, didn’t miss out on the fun. But the list of human companions invited to this more exclusive gathering was capped at 200 people, meaning 400 people had to be trimmed from the wedding guest list.

Meghan’s Suits co-stars—Patrick J. Adams, Gina Torres, Sarah Rafferty, Gabriel Macht, Rick Hoffman, and Abigail Spencer—attended the wedding but did not make the after-after-party cut. Not to worry, though. They made their own fun with an impromptu karaoke party complete with live piano. Jessica Mulroney, Meghan’s close friend whose children played big roles in the wedding party, brought her makeup artist, Rachel Renna, along to the wedding, and Renna posted a video of the musical display to Instagram, showing Hoffman performing “Billie Jean.” “He’s getting in tune right now; he’s warming up,” she says in the video.

The Suits crew did attend the wedding luncheon along with the Queen, where they enjoyed the musical stylings of Elton John and ate an extensive menu of prawns, asparagus, pea panna cotta with quail eggs, pork belly, and that now-famous lemon-and-elderflower cake.

The Royal Wedding Reception Menu, Revealed
The menu features many U.K.-grown food products.
by Hilary Weaver
The royal wedding cake, baked by Claire Ptak of Violet Bakery, has been perhaps the most talked-about food item for Saturday’s royal wedding reception, as cake so often is. This particular cake is a lemon sponge cake with elderflower Swiss meringue buttercream, so it deserves the credit.

But this treat, a deviation from the traditional royal fruitcake, isn’t the only delectable thing on the menu at the lunchtime reception, hosted by the Queen at Windsor Castle. (It will be followed by a more intimate evening reception at nearby Frogmore House.)

Per a press release, the menu features the following items:

  • Scottish langoustines wrapped in smoked salmon with citrus crème fraîche
  • Grilled English asparagus wrapped in Cumbrian ham
  • Garden pea panna cotta with quail eggs and lemon verbena
  • Heritage tomato and basil tartare with balsamic pearls
  • Poached free-range chicken bound in a lightly spiced yogurt with roasted apricot croquette of confit
  • Windsor lamb, roasted vegetables, and shallot jam
  • Warm asparagus spears with mozzarella and sun-blush tomatoes
  • Fricassee of free-range chicken with morel mushrooms and young leeks
  • Pea and mint risotto with pea shoots, truffle oil, and Parmesan crisps
  • Ten-hour slow-roasted Windsor pork belly with apple compote and
    crackling
  • Champagne and pistachio macaroons
  • Orange crème brûlée tartlets
  • Miniature rhubarb-crumble tartlets

The menu includes as many U.K.-based ingredients as possible, according to the press release. “Scottish smoked salmon” is a bit of a tip-off here, of course, but pretty much everything else is local, too. The lamb and pork are from the Windsor Estate, and most of the vegetables are from local regions, too. The heritage tomatoes, for example, are from Sussex, perhaps a slight wink to the Duke and new Duchess of Sussex. (Say that 10 times fast.)

Wasn't Burn Notice also a hit for USA? USA is actually a pretty strong cable channel from my understanding.

Yes, it was. And it started a few years before the shows I mentioned. I just never got into it. I think the USA Network must have changed their target demographic, because I really hadn't taken notice of that network until the 3 shows I mentioned aired, one after another. Now, it is a pretty strong cable channel. :thumbsup2

I must be so clueless! I've gotten no negative vibes from Megan Markle. I just saw two people in love at a nice wedding. It was nice to see Harry settling down because he was quite a wild one for a while. I know virtually nothing about Megan but she sure seemed happy.

I must be clueless too, but I don't really know who Megan is.
She sounds like someone who knew what she wanted in life and made it happen for herself. That is pretty admirable IMO.

Actually Harry, 6th in line to the throne doesn't get very much. Meghan probably actually has more money than he does.

I read this a few years ago about Will & Kate. Right now, being 2nd in line, Will doesn't get that much salary yearly for being Duke of Cambridge. I read they Kate & Will each only get several hundred pounds a year.

Both men have other income and assets. This article doesn't even mention any royalty stipend https://heavy.com/money/2018/05/prince-harry-net-worth/

7 years ago, Suits was put on the USA Network to move that channel away from their 24 hr marathon of non-stop, Law & Order, reruns. NBC owns the network and wanted to introduce shorter, edgier series that they couldn't get away with on their major network. So, they introduced their "summer TV series" as I call them. Suits, In Plain Sight, & Royal Pains, were their first 3 series they aired. They really did change the identity of the USA Network.
Well, no, not exactly.
USA Network has created some type of original show or other since the eighties, although not necessarily uninterrupted. Back then, it was kind shows or game shows.
Original entertainment series started way backi:
2002: Monk
2002: The Dead Zone
2004: The 4400
2006: Psych
2007: Burn Notice
the network didn't start running Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (followed over the years by numerous other network dramas) until 2007.

I read that Kate & Will each only get several hundred pounds a year. A lot of Kate's evening gowns are being paid for by Charles. That's also one of the reasons Kate re-wears a lot of outfits. Not only is she trying to present a more frugal image, they really don't get enough to be spending lavishly all the time.

Normally, they would be on a rather tight financial leash, as the Crown doesn't normally give much cash to its cadet and distaff members EXCEPT for the Prince of Wales, but in this case, you're off a bit because you are forgetting that very ugly divorce. He inherited young because his mother died young.

Charles was invested as Duke of Cornwall at the same time he was officially invested as Prince of Wales, which was when he was 21. The income from the properties and companies owned by the Duchy of Cornwall is quite substantial, but it wasn't enough to enable him to pay off Diana's demand for a cash lump sum. He borrowed some of that from the Queen, and is still paying it back. Diana had expensive tastes, and would undoubtedly have run through a lot of her money had she lived longer, but she died only one year after the divorce, and the money went into trust for her sons, who needed none of it at the time because they were dependents of their Dad's, and he paid their expenses.

They get household allowances from the Duchy of Cornwall and grace & favour apartments in Kensington Palace at age 21, but did not inherit their trusts until age 30. They also inherited some money when their great-grandmother Elizabeth died, but not a whole lot; the bulk of it was left to the Queen in order to avoid inheritance taxes. The Queen's Civil List is about L6.6M/year; out of that she pays stipends to those members of the family who carry out official duties for the Crown, and also pays for their bodyguards and reimburses them for clothes and transport needs for those jobs. Military pay is another source of income, but like most military forces, the UK's doesn't pay officers all that grandly. When Prince Andrew was serving on active naval duty his pay was about 30,000 at the rank of Lt. Commander.

I LOVE Psych. I am so happy they are doing the movies now.

Interesting. It must have been one of the hundred cable stations I just clicked by on my remote up until then. Then in 2007, I noticed the endless Law & Orders and then it stuck in my mind for that.

The hat meme *is* very funny, but I have an idea of why the Duchess of Cornwall likes large platter hats -- they block cameras.

By all reports, she has an irrepressible sense of humor, and those hats let her indulge it at public events. The infamous "side-eye" that the Duchess of Cambridge gave her at the wedding was probably a reaction to one of her quips, which can sometimes be a bit bawdy. If you were watching at the time, none of the cameras could actually see Camilla's face; I think she likes having a shield that she can use to let off tiny bits of steam on public occasions.

She also manages to pull off wearing pieces of jewelry that haven't been done justice to since Queen Mary -- she has the kind of outsize personality that can manage big style.
