Disney Gift Card Deals

Is anyone else having issues logging into the Disney gc site? I've been trying off and on all morning and getting an error every time.
I used my cellphone to connect to the website and it worked fine for me. I've been having issues with it when I use my laptop, so I go straight to the phone.

FWIW, every Disney website has been wonky since their system-wide update back in June. Not that they have been the gold standard prior to that botched update.

Still wasn't working on the computer so I tried on my cell and it worked just fine. THanks

I just bought a $200 Visa gift card and the activation fee was about $7. I am waiting for it to arrive and will be trying to purchase Disney gift cards from BJs as soon as I get it. It's apparently "on the truck for delivery by end of day" so stay tuned!
I have attempted to buy $200 worth of Disney gift cards at BJs online with my vanilla visa gift card. BJs online chat said I could but I could not split payment so whatever was on my prepaid card had to cover the entire purchase. My order has been initiated successfully with BJs (I received an order confirmation) but my card has not been charged yet. BJs won't charge until right before they ship so I won't know if this actually worked until I get the shipping notice. (I did go to the gift card website and register my zipcode for billing purposes.)

My Target south of Boston had the $100 GC's back in tonight. Had been out the last couple times I checked. At check out the cashier even mentioned to me that people buy them to pay off there trips because they get the savings. Bought a few to pay for the MNSSHP tickets. I even picked up a Red Robin GC because DD wanted to eat there tonight :)

For any Sam''s Club members, there is a decent gift card sale going on today only. Mostly restaurants and some entertainment like movies. But a good deal that is Disney related is Landrys gift cards: $120 for $90. That includes a $20 bonus card that expires 12/31/19. I got some because we love Yak and Yeti.

At the Latham NY Sams they are only selling the ones mentioned above. You can't even buy any of the nonsale gift cards during the sale. There is a sign that reads they aren't activating today. They are far from the ones on sale.

Thanks so much for the Landry's GC tip!! Sold out online and also states deal is for online purchase only. I made the trip to Sam's anyways and found the cards. Picked up two of them and told the cashier they were only $90 online and had no further questions asked! Also had $100 extra reward bucks saved up to go towards it. So I now have $240 worth of gift cards for Landry's and only paid $80! Tip: call ahead to check if they have them in the store, the first sam's I stopped at were out.

My Target/Target GC/Disney GC experience today: I'll preface this by saying I am relatively new to using Disney GCs as a way to save money. I tried the Raise/discount Target gc/red card/Disney gc method last fall to get at least 10% off but didn't know that Target closed that down so didn't save that much and couldn't buy Disney GCs online at Target with the Target GCs. So I have had $200 in Target GCs for awhile now from Raise but no nearby Target store to try buying Disney GCs with it. I finally got to a Target today. I found one of the gift card sections right away, but no Disney GCs were there (they did have Disneyland park tickets though), so I went to the electronics area and asked there. At first the employee said that the only other place that there would be GCs would be at the check-out counters, but then he decided to look it up on his phone, it said that Disney GCs were discontinued at that store but would be at other locations in the city. Then we saw another more knowledgeable employee who showed me another largish selection of GCs near the electronics area. They had a few $100 Disney GCs left but no others. So then I went to self check-out with 2 in hand and some ground coffee. One of the cards went through and was activated but the other made the scanner emit a loud noise and the machine said something about not being activated/error (don't remember). The noise alerted an employee, she said that GCs were not supposed to be purchased at self check out, so she cancelled everything and brought my things over to her register at customer service. When it came time to pay I showed her the bar code on my phone for one of the Target GCs, and she said that she didn't think that would work - but it did! So then I presented the 2nd Target GC and that one worked too! I'm so relieved not to have to try to find another 190 bucks of Target stuff to buy, which wouldn't probably be hard, but again, I don't live near one.

Take aways: 1) Disney gift cards may be disappearing from some Target stores. 2) Some Target employees know where all the gift cards are, others don't 3) Self check out may work to buy some gift cards at Target but others may not scan through 4) Target employees might let you pay for gift cards with Target gift cards since the system allows it. I know many of you know and have experienced some of these things too, just adding data. I shopped at a Target in Colorado Springs, CO.

I ordered more BB&B gift cards with Discover Rewards, $100 this time. Went back to the same BB&B I had success at before and was TURNED DOWN. I spoke to the manager and he repeatedly informed me it was illegal to buy gc with gc. The whole think was beyond annoying but the end result is BB&B is very YMMV.
I will try to few other stores I have access to and maybe try to by some other items too, to make it less noticible.

A couple people mentioned success at BB&B so I thought I'd give it a run.
I cashed in some of my Discover rewards (I'm sure some of you have rewards piled up from the Warehouse 5%) for BB&B gift cards at 20% off. Went into store today and tried to buy just gc with gc (no filler) and IT WORKED! The cashier didn't hesitate and the system accepted the transaction.
I normally just credit my rewards to my balance so this is a 20% savings on Disney GCs for me.

(I'm located in NJ if it makes a difference.)

What state are you in?

I'm in Portland, OR and was successful in using a BB&B gift card to purchase a Disney gift card last week, so I redeemed the rest of my Discover cashback dollars for an additional $125 in BB&B. Had no problems yesterday using another one to buy a $25 Disney GC. My plan was to go slow and redeem one $25 gift card per week, but after hearing about the issue @HHMcG had, I may step it up a bit and do $50 next time just to get rid of them. Discover didn't offer any other gift card options that could be converted into Disney except BB&B and I prefer that over redeeming for a statement credit because it's nice to get the $5 bonus per gift card.

I also went to Target and converted a $100 Target gift card to Disney. I don't shop a lot at Target anymore and was curious to check out the Disney gift card situation in light of what others we posting about dwindling supplies. The checkout aisles had plenty of $50's, electronics had plenty of $100's, but the greeting card rack only had the Disneyland tickets. The $100 Target gift card I used to pay was my last one from the 10% off sale in December. With Target being one of Discover's 4th quarter bonus categories, I'm hoping Target offers the 10% off again this year.

I was not able to use a BB and B gift card to buy a Disney GC last week. They did allow it the first time.

Bummer but ROFL at that manager. Illegal my rear, against store policy sure, not illegal! But that's an easy way to shut down a conversation and shame a customer all at once, unfortunately others here have had similar experiences at stores when a manager doesn't have the guts to say "it's against store policy".

Have you considered trying at a totally different time of day so you don't run into the same manager?

After a successful attempt at buying a Disney GC with a BB&B gift card, I tried a second time and not only got denied, but got accused of money laundering and that gift card to gift card transactions are not just against store policy but against federal law. Manager didn't go that far, but just said they couldn't do it.

I've been accused of "money laundering" when trying to buy a gift card with a gift card at Target. Clearly people are completely unfamiliar with the way money laundering works. With my yoga pants, soccer mom hair and child hanging off me, I probably look a lot like a drug kingpin, though, so I can see where there may be confusion.
