DIS Digi-Scrappers Challenge-Week 4! 5/7-5/13

Here's a 2-page layout I made a couple of weeks ago that I just re-did. It was one 12 x 24 and I recreated it as separate 12 x 12 files. I also added some additional elements.

The song is "On My Way" from Brother Bear.
I used more clustering as I've learned from Britt. I also used the lyrics around the edge like labdogs42 and others. I've really learned a lot from all of you!

I'm so sorry guys, I thought this was the LO thread. :sad2: Do you all want me to delete it? Maybe we could use a 'tips and tricks' thread.

Wonderful LO's ladies. I'm going to try and work on mine tonight.

Here is my entry:

YBHauntedMansion-SM.jpg

I used one of my photos from Disneyland. :) The thing I learned from another DISer is from Britt. From her I learned about the site with the various Pea fonts. Its a great place to find handwriting fonts perfect for journaling.

The song I used is part of the song played during Haunted Mansion. We rode HM 7 times when we were at DLR. It is one of my favorite rides.

Wow! Everyone is off to an awesome start! :cheer2:

bookmompooh - Great layout! I love the different textures of your page!

sahlink - Your layout is wonderful! I love the look on your son's face! Precious! You are doing an amazing job if you've only been doing this two weeks!

ngneer98 - Love the colors you picked for your layout! It's terrific. I also love the translucent journal box. Great job!

stenogoddess - Lauren, your page is so beautiful. It really has such a wonderful European feel to it. I like the way you put the paper strip over the fourth window of the frame and extended it out. Sweet!

Fran - All of your layouts are terrific! I especially love the one with Pooh's ears and the bee.

wenrob - Beautiful layout and such a beautiful girl!

yzerbear19 - I love your layout .... it's so spooktacular. :) It looks like an advertisement!

WOW! Sorry to be gone for so long. I had to wait until the children went to bed before logging on. I apologize for asking everyone to use something in their layout that they have learned from another DIS-er because of course we all learn from each other. I'll go through the posts one at a time in order:

Hypermommy:No, the LO for the challenge does not need to include family pictures. Just Disney-related.

Bookmompooh: great LO! Pirates are always fun to scrap. I like the background paper

Britt: Thanks for explaining the part about using Disney pictures and also for linking the GG Designs website

Fran: your LO are always inspiring. Really like you dressed as Minnie (she is a princess to Mickey, ya know)

carsmom: you have made my day, no my week! I just recently started scrapping, and I never would have dreamed that someone would actually ask ME a question. I'll be glad to let you know how I did it. Let me get through this post and I also need to PM the participation prize to everyone.

Stenogoddess: Adventures by Disney counts as Disney.
And your LO is lovely. The bow is very pretty.

engneer: I don't know anything about HSM (I know, I am lame) but your LO really captures school spirit!

sahlink: Mary Poppins is one of my favorite Disney movies! Thanks for using her song.

Caitsmama: thanks for responding to carsmom about how to color certain parts of the picture!

Susan: great idea to use "on my way" for pics of your travel tips. I also like Labdogs tip of writing on the borders and had planned on doing that for my LO.

Yzerbear: Spooky! (in a good way) I really enjoy seeing your black and white LOs!

Everyone: I'll be PM'ing your links for the participation prize soon. Please let me know if I missed you. Really great LOs. I am impressed at the song lyrics you selected; some are very off-the-beaten path. Can't wait for tomorrow!

I love the Disney songs!!! Can't wait to start on this LO...of course, it will be perfect if SUZI shares her secrets on how to only colorize the circular areas in her LO as she did for last week's challenge. I have limited knowledge on this whole colorizing thing and would love to know how. You can PM me so that we don't take up space on the actual challenge thread. Thanks!

I thanked Caitsmama for answering your question on a different post (Thanks again!) I do mine differently, but I don't want to cause confusion by posting how I do mine. But here is how I do mine. I have PSE.
1. I use either the selecting tool or magic wand to "select" an area (example, a hat) So the the hat will have marching ants around it
2. "inverse select" This means that I will have selected everything but the hat
3. then I change what has been inversely selected to black/white. The result would be a black/white photo with a colored hat.

In my LO where I made the circle colored: instead of "selecting" a part of the photo (example, hat), I used the circle selection tool to create a circle. Then I did steps 2 and 3 above. Hopefully, this isn't too confusing.

Want more? On step 3, instead of changing everything to black/white, you can change it to a texture or make it blurred or grainy.

I am so excited that you are doing this challenge. I have been planning out how to end my daughter's baby album and was planning on typing the lyrics to a song I used to sing her as a baby... to go along with a baby photo. Now I have no excuse not to sit down and do it. Thank you.

I can't even start listing all the things that I have learned from this group. Everyone is amazing. I have gotten more done in the last two weeks than I have in the last year. :woohoo:

Here is my LO for this week. Great job everyone. I used a few techniques I have learned from this group.....I copied the single flowers from the flower border....and I cut a piece of paper for the half circle.

Holy Smokes!! You guys are sure fast! Amazing LOs so far -- I love to see the variety! Suzi - thanks for hosting -- what a fun challenge.... Here's mine -- it was a fun one to play with. One of the techniques I learned from fellow DISers on this board was recoloring elements.... Up until a few weeks ago when I saw people recoloring Alphas, etc., I didn't realize you could do that.... Now I am a "recoloring maniac!" :)

Great layouts guys!!!!
I am hoping to get mine done tonight!

Thanks for the tips on recoloring. I'm going to have fun with that. Maybe I'll try to use it for this challenge. At least then I could remember what it is I learned. Becuase I've learned so much from you guys it's impossible to list it all! :-)

OK, I went with an obvious one, the Mickey Mouse Club March. I used some inspiration from Britt and tried putting a whole bunch of "stuff" behind my picture and I love how it came out! I had typed the words to the song on the ribbon before I realized that the yellow paper in her Mouse in the House kit has the lyrics on it, too! So, then I threw some of that on the page as well! I was looking to add a splash of yellow anyway and it worked out perfectly!

Everything is by Britt-ish designs Mouse in the House and Leave the World Behind. I made the ribbons with the song lyrics on them.

Thank you so much!!! I knew there had to be an easier way (I had found tuts on how to do the duplicate photo, erasing, etc...but my hand is so not steady, so when I saw the circles, I knew there had to be an easier way!). Whoo hoo! Off to scrap my LO!

Geri

Also, you can enlarge the size of the eraser circle, so if you are just wanting to erase a circle, make the eraser size xtra large, and then use it as a "stamp" to take out the color. Super easy. ;)

I'm home today, so I can be better about following the posts.

LoveGoofy Thanks! It was fun trying to think of a topic. I love the Disney songs and find myself singing them without even realizing it. And hosting has been great!

Marileeh Pretty LO! The Beauty and the Beast Musical was one of our children's favorite shows at WDW. I need to find that font.

DisneyCruiser I love how you have the children at the door with Mike, Sully, and Boo on the other side. Very fun. I didn't know that SeeBee's has Monster's Inc paper! I hope she has a search engine on her blog. I might just get back with you for more details if I can't find it.

Labdogs You can never go wrong with Mickey! Always a classic and your LOs are always inspiring to me.

Caitsmama I did not know how to do that trick that way you do it. It seems a lot easier then my way to do perfect circles, etc. Thanks!!

I don't even know where to start!!! This group just AMAZES ME!!!!!

Labdogs - your LO with all the "stuff" turned out amazing. I'm so glad you tried it!! It totally makes your LO look amazing. I LOVE Mickey so much and this LO is just wonderful!

EVERYONE's LOs are wonderful!!! WOW WOW WOW!!!

I think I'm going to drop my "work" and go do this challenge right now. I can't be responsible anymore!! I gotta play!!

I didn't know that SeeBee's has Monster's Inc paper! I hope she has a search engine on her blog. I might just get back with you for more details if I can't find it.

If you go to her blog and search for "dream trip" all of her Disney-inspired stuff will come up. I finally figured that out after trying to page through every page searching for all of them! I have them ALL downloaded now, so I don't have to search for them any more!!

BTW, thanks, Britt! I couldn't make such fun layouts without your awesome kits! They just make is SO easy to put a page together. Everything I'm looking for is right there!

I have to agree about Britt's awesome kits...I had to use some others this time because all my pages were Britt-ish Designs. :lmao:
Labdog: I use SB2+ also. I was blown away with your pages. I wasn't even coming close to working it to its full potential until I saw what you did with it.

Suzi: Thanks for this great challenge. I love this group.

Marilee

Here is mine.
My lyrics are to "Under the Sea" from The Little Mermaid.
What I used that I learned? The only thing here that is mine is the black background! :rotfl2: The idea of using black with nighttime shows came from several DIS-ers on week 1 of the challenge. The idea to get photos from Flickr came from -- can't remember names, but there were a couple a scrappers who credited flickr. Placing text around the border was Labdogs and Fran.
