The DVC Contemporary Wish Club?

The doors could be Disney's version of the concept car - hot, futuristic designs that no one will ever get to use.QUOTE]

Well something has to be behind those doors. It could be GC or CR. I don't know why they would have another hallway already set up and designed with out having anything in there bag. It just wouldn't make much sense to waste time and money on such a thing.

I'm confident they won't have CRV rooms ready now. Not with SSR, AKV and a non-Disney World resort to sell (I'm confident a non DW DVC is before CRV).

I'm also confident that a portion of CR will be DVC. A 16 story suite tower seems impossible to rent out consistantly and goes against their talk of not adding any new non-DVC resorts.

I guess it wouldn't be new, it'd be an "addition" but still, a lot of suites by itself. Seems like they would have remodeled those into the existing structure as they made over the other wings.

I still say DVC in 2009.

If my livelyhood was selling CURRENT DVC I'm not so sure I wouldn't be willing to squelch rumors of an impending resort that a lot of people would want, and hold off purchasing DVC for. I'm not questioning her integrity, but why would she give credence to this rumor? Why would anyone even ask her?

Yes you are questioning her integrity. :confused3

Since you haven't listenend you might be interested to know that she said she would LIKE a monorail resort. The main point of the interview was about VAK which she also seemed very excited about. (Which she can't sell right now either!) She used to work for Disney and does have some good sources, but even she said her source could be wrong. She also said her source said the next DVC will NOT be in Orlando. She pointed out that she mentioned all the "drawings" etc on the net to her souce who still said nope, not DVC.

It's interesting that any news/rumors that says this will NOT happen are "trashed" but any news/rumors saying it will are considered gospel :rotfl2:

I'm not questioning anyone's integrity, but I do think the powers-that-be are trying to quell any rumors of a CRV so as not to impede sales of SSR and AKV. Maybe I'm overly optimistic, but I doubt that any new construction on the site of the North Wing will be totally CR rooms or suites.

Yes you are questioning her integrity. :confused3

Well that was not my intention, so I apologize.
I'm just expressing some wishful thinking. It seems that everytime it looks like it will happen, someone comes along rains on the big CRV parade. Reliable sources also said it would only be a remodel of the north wing. Perhaps reliable sources are purposefully floating some contradictory information so as not to damage current sales with wishful thinking. Or maybe all of us on this thread will be disappointed and there really is a demand for 14 floors of $400+ a night rooms.

And I did listen to the podcast, sounded to me like she was hinting at Hawaii, "if you're familiar with timeshares and familiar with demand...". What, aside from Orlando, is the most popular timeshare destination? I'd guess Hawaii, but I don't know.

My thoughts were Hawaii or maybe Mexico/Caribbean. Both of those have a large timeshare presence.

(However, I am really surprised that Disney would do off property again. I don't think that either HH or VB were huge hits and IMHO Disney needs to think long and hard)

I read a link to some LA paper (LA Times?) and it mentions DVC possibly going into Hawaii, Caribbean and one other spot - can't remember. If I had time right now I'd go look for the link...

... She also said her source said the next DVC will NOT be in Orlando. ...

IMO, that's because the next DVC in the pipeline is at DL, not WDW (or elsewhere off-property).

I took one for the "club"...

spent the money I had saved up to buy CRV & got DH a Harley...

figure the announcement will be right around the corner - anytime now.:rolleyes1

how many points do i need to buy to finance thru DVC:rotfl: ?

50....:rolleyes1

but if they have any great discounts those are generally 100 to 120 points.

Have a feeling we'll be needing in that ballpark anyway depending on the point structure/per night/view, etc. even if we choose to bank/borrow.

Isn't it *possible* that she (SC) is of the same mindset as that of those you reference in your last line? I think many of us (on a subconscious level) tend to give more credence to that which we wish for. Despite her saying she would "like" a monorail resort, I, too believe such an announcement would cut in to her livelihood (perhaps somewhat significantly for a period of time) which might carry more importance than her own personal wishes. Also, we all like to be "in the know", so one more reason for her to give weight (again, subconsciously) to what she was told, especially as it differs from the more prevalent rumor. She also offered the caveat "[her] source could be wrong", which helps cover the bases.

Bottom line, I don't think questioning her statements needs to automatically mean questioning her integrity.

JMHO, YMMV.

I am currently considering DVC and will most probably buy in. However if there was a DVC at the Contemporary, I would have no second thoughts about it. I will probably buy enough AKV points to cover our needs, and add on at the CRV if they do in fact open there. However, I have been going back and forth between buying in at AKV or waiting to see what becomes of the CRV rumours. After reading through a lot of information on this site and others, I think there are many who are on the fence about whether to buy now or see what hapens with CRV. I am still trying to decide if I want to buy into any of the current resorts, but would buy in today if CRV was an option.

and that is why they won't announce a second offering until the current AK is sold to whatever occupancy they're comfortable with...they'd love you to buy both;) .

I have not read the entire thread --but reading the above, it strikes me that it's amazing that one person is able to make such judgements about another person.

Hmmm...isn't it possible that announcing a Contemporary DVC could INCREASE resale sales? I can see a scenario where that they announce the CRV, but the point cost is likely to be higher than anything else because of the demand. So more people might look to buy cheaper contracts and hope to be able to book at the 7 month window, and also be able to perhaps take advantage of incentives and pre-sales offered to current owners first.

Just a thought.

I haven't had much time to be on the Dis lately and have not read this entire post - however, count me in as waiting on CRV. We specifically bought only 45 points for our recent BWV add-on in anticipation of adding on at CRV when/if it becomes available.

Here's to keeping the wish alive!!!!

I would love to join! I remember one of my first disney trips with my parents and we went through that hotel, I thought it was so cool. It always reminds me of my dad, who is my Disney Angel watching over me! :)
