I went to Cabo recently, and we stopped at Costco from the airport to load up on our own alcohol. Mostly because I am cheap, not worried about being poisoned. I would be more concerned about the water and ice.

Just saw a blurb on the local news at my parents' house in rural Alabama regarding the subject matter in this thread. They said widespread raids by Mexican authorities at AIs in Cancun & Playa del Carmen yielded over 10k gallons of bootlegged/tainted liquor.

1.4 million gallons seized since 2010. I have my suspicions about why it's suddenly a story. I'll keep my tinfoil hat put away.
