Hi everyone! I'm way behind in posting this. I used this thread for my wedding this past November, to order a wedding cake for our Memories Wedding, and a "grooms" cake for the night before for my husband. One was wonderful and perfect...the other one...not so much. Sorry for the picture quality, they were taken with my phone!
Groom's cake:
Made by the Contemporary, worked with Chef Brian
Size: 6-inch fondant cake
Price: $89
Flavor: Orange cake w/ amaretto mouse filling
Delivery location: Surprise after dinner at The Wave
I wanted an "Up" theme, and sent inspiration pictures and an idea of what I was looking for. I wanted an Adventure Book incorporated. Aside from running after the server into the kitchen after she tried to bring my check with no one acknowledging the surprise, this cake was amazing (I do wish there were more clouds though). It tasted awesome and brought my husband to tears. Unfortunately we didn't get to have more than one piece each or so as we made the mistake of putting it in the refrigerator and it dried out and got hard. We did save the ballons and Adventure Book though and brought them home!
The detail on the "book" is amazing! It really does look real in person.
Wedding cake:
Made by the Grand Floridian, husband worked with Pat Anderson
Size: 2 tier 6-inch fondant cake?? I can't really remember
Price: $135 approximately
Flavor: Vanilla cake w/ bavarian creme filling
Delivery location: wedding dinner at Victoria & Albert's
My husband had trouble getting in touch with Pat, and requests/questions went unanswered. We sent pictures and were very descriptive on what we wanted. It didn't much resemble the pictures we sent; we requested the swirls be made into Mickey heads.. this did not happen and the swirls were WAY too thick and just look sloppy. The top layer just looks weird!!! We were VERY disappointed with this cake; the look, and the flavor. It tasted like tin! It was a huge waste a money and disappointment for our wedding
