Next DVC: will anyone else wait to buy?

With each of our DVC purchases (original, plus 2 different add-ons), we bought right at the beginning, as soon as they were offered for sale. Now that I'm reading about the double-developer points, if (and when) we do another add-on at a new DVC resort, I don't think that we'll be in the vanguard again. :sad2:
While we are delighted to have AKV, it seems it would have been a better deal if we had waited a while. Does anyone else feel that we "early-birds" might have gotten the "worms", but the "Johnny-come-latelys" got extra vacations? :confused3

Will we got suckered in on the whole tapestry deal....what a farce that has become. Next time we will wait and see too. I would gladly traded my 16 spaces for another 175 points!

We went for the price and we're happy. We didn't get 150, so no tapestry. I wish there had been a print of AKV.
Bobbi:goodvibes

DVC is offering DDP on both resorts could it be that sales were not as projected. It does not seem that they made one offer better than the other they just added to both.

We bought AKV the minute it went on sale, and we're happy we did.
We couldn't use the developer points anyway, so we took the discount.

That said, the only rumored DVC that we have interest in would be the Grand Californian. We will not purchase at the Contemporary.
Of course we would also be interested in the non rumored Polynesian Villas... :smokin:

I have no regrets. I couldn't have used the Develop Points either so the intial deal was probaby the best I was going to do.

We are waiting for the strongly rumored 50 DVC units at the Grand Californian at Disneyland Resort. We will not wait to purchase there, since waiting may mean that you get nothing, as they will sell quickly. (within a few months) They will not have to add incentives (unfortunately) since it will be the only game in town.

I own at both BCV and SSR, yet when AKV opened, I received ONE mailing at home before they officially went 'on sale,' and that's it. Am I missing something? I haven't gotten ANY other offers. How do I get 'in the loop?'

I do believe that we were somewhat shafted. I was told that AKV would open on September 1. I changed my vacation plans to coincide with the 'opening.' Well, lo and behold, the real opening is earlier than Sept. 1. I find this out after changing my December vacation to a September one.

One final point, I was able to get 5 nights the week before Xmas in a 1-br at VWL during the time when lots of us were canceling our existing vacations to remake one at AKV. So it is not a total loss, but it would have been nice to have been there for the opening.

Hopefully when/if they do another resort, DVC gives us something different then another tote bag. We have four of them now. Maybe the could throw in some DVC member polos, hats or jacket!

The mailings and solicitations were slow in getting out. Almost as if the selling started prematurely. If it wasn't for the DisBoards, we would not have known either. We got our mailing at home well after we made our purchase.

As I watched the launching of AKV, I think a few things have changed that may also need to be considered.

I believe when AKV launched the "Retail" price per point was $101. Today it is now $104, so the late arrivers incurred a price increase. Then there was a member discount off of that $101, which I believe took it below the today discounted offer of $96, but I don't remember what the discount was. Like all of us when doing the analysis between the value of the discount versus the value of the developer points it comes down to money and ability to use. For me the developer point option has a lot more value then the discount so I would always look for that option for future adds.

I have Zero interest in CRV, but would have to think hard if GCV were to become real.

Are we talking about that nice AKV mailing with the DVD? Geez that came out a few months after the initial push to owners(with the tapestry marketing ploy).

The discount for AKV was $8, just as it is now. We opted for the discount vs. matching developer points, since it seemed to be a good deal and you had only 7 months for their use. Now I've read where not only are they double, but you have 12 months in which to use them! IMNSHO, THAT'S a much better deal!

At this point, I don't anticipate buying CRV, BUT if the POLY DVC materializes................:rolleyes1

There is no rumor because there has not been one started yet.
P.S. I WILL buy here as well and not CV.

I think I started the Poly rumor months ago :) Just wishful thinking though - by the time they did it, if they did it, I probably couldn't enjoy it. :sad2:

I'd buy somewhere around 50 points at CRV. I'd probably take a discount - unless I had a need for some near-term points.

After having stayed at the Beach Club, I'd gladly forego the CRV if BCV wasn't so expensive now. I thought being right on the monorail was important to me. Now I think being within walking distance of Epcot is better.

Ditto.

I couldn't have used them within expiration (7 OR 12 months, whichever it turns out to be).

And I've got no desire to deal with the hassles of renting them out.

Me too! I was very disappointed when my paperwork arrived and there was no AKV lithograph in the box. I didn't really need another generic DVC tote bag but would have loved a print of AKV to hang on the wall.

We never did receive our AKV mailing with the DVD!:sad2: We're definitely interested in a CRV, but we would think about holding off a little while when they go on sale. There's no guarantee they'd offer the double developer points again, though. I just want a CRV announcement, please!

We are contemplating an add on at AKV and we are glad we waited with the potential DDPs.

However, if and when the PV comes to fruition, I would buy there "yesterday".
