I am a bit confused. Costa Maya is a just region(city?) in Mexico, not a country -- although Mexico is also not listed. But then wouldn't just visiting Cozumel cause the same problem?

Does this mean they wash their hands in Cozumel and not in Mahahaul???

You are......correct. Talking about JB's at 4. That will give people time to come and go, enjoy or leave, and make it back to hotels before it gets to late.

Just an off hand thought about 4:00 at JB's - just because we meet at 4:00 doesn't mean we'll actually eat at 4:00 - with groups, service usually isn't slow - it's just longer than a traditional table for 2-4...I have a feeling we probably won't be eating until 5:00-5:30...

You got it correct. JB's is pretty flexible. We can come and go in groups. They are use to it. Come, sit, eat, drink, what ever and when ever.

That is what I was thinking last Friday as I sat at The Deck Downunder for 2 hours enjoying the sun. Phone was on!

Sorry you would not catch me near the Deck Downunder, they were a client of mine.....you do not want to know what the kitchen of that place is like...I am sure there are other places similar, I just would rather no know...

What on earth is a COWBIRD??????? I can't even imagine the mess THAT would leave on your windsheild!!!!!!!

Just their name. I think the official name is a brown headed cowbird. They are interesting creatures. They do not make their own nests, but rather will lay their eggs in another birds nest. Since the incubation for cowbirds is about 2 days shorter than other birds, the cowbird babies hatch first and grow for a few days before the real eggs hatch. That gives them an unfair advantage and they can get all of the food the parents bring back. Sometimes a mother cowbird will even kick the real eggs out of the nest before laying her own!!!

Jim- I think you'd agree that JB's website makes it look like a more 'upscale' establishment than it is... ya gotta kick the cats off the picnic tables sometimes.

Interesting juxtaposition of posts here. On the one hand, Coachpug wouldn't eat at a place where the kitchen wasn't up to standards. But yet it seems like the family as a whole doesn't mind eating with stray cats who have been up on the tables.

What has the Grand done? I would like to see a picture of how the Grand looks now..I know the casino washed away....if you have a a recent picture there..I would be interested in seeing it. I thought i had read the the Palace casino had major damage as well? I guess not?

No, no, no... let me clarify before I scare diners away from a GREAT restaurant... think about it this way- if you were a stray cat, and you lived near a place that had THE BEST fresh seafood, and outdoor dining, where would YOU hang out? (The cats are ONLY outside...we just happen to love to eat out there instead of inside...)

The waitstaff shoos them away as much as possible, but they tend to linger under tables (not ON them) waiting for scraps to 'fall'.

When I first started working for Bud, I spent a LOT of time in kitchens and backrooms of restaurants... there are some that look *WONDERFUL* from the dining room that I wouldn't eat in if you paid me.

And I'm the one that packs her lunch/dinner for the next day. It is already in her carryout container for tomorrow.

When was the last time your husband packed your lunch/dinner 5 days a week? (insert pokey stick guy here)

Figured if you had to kick the cats OFF the picnic tables that at one point they were ON the picnic tables.

Love the bullfrog!!! Not so much with the spray on and the sport versions.... The regular and the kids versions are great and I usually only have to reapply once for a full day of swimming!

Down side is that it is expensive and hard to find around here... Sunscreen hogs buy it all when they find it!! Who me??? NOOOOOO!!!
