Chili? Love it? Hate it? Beans or no beans?

I've made our first batch, big enough for a couple meals and freezing a few more.

Beans - 4 to 5 different kinds and colors, diced tomatoes (canned half with chili sauce and half with italian seasoning), lots of meat. Mine is very chunky and hearty.

does not have beans.

Chili without beans is called Manwich or Spaghetti Sauce.

I've never thought to put ground turkey instead of ground beef or sausage instead of beef interesting that already several people have done those. I can't say that I've had ground turkey much though so maybe that's why I never think of that.
Tacos with turkey is good too ... turkey absorbs the spice and flavors better than beef so it often makes a great substitute.

Well, there's "Chili" and "Chili con carne". Meaning one of them (the second one) has MEAT, so the first doesn't have meat? What does it have?

I like chili (beans only, no meat).
ACCORDING TO GOOGLE

What's the Difference Between Chili and Chili Con Carne? Simply put, chili can be made from chicken, turkey, sweet potato, vegetarian, ground round, corn, beans – there truly are just about endless possibilities. Chili con carne, however is made with meat; 'con carne' translates directly from Spanish to 'with meat'.

Your picture clearly states CHILI NO BEANS, meaning Chili without the Beans - that are supposed to be there.

No beans means tomato sauce, just like no pasta is just sauce, not spaghetti.
Okay, final note. Beans are prohibited at Chili competitions.

Who knew chili was so divisive? I'm here for it!

We do a really good chili here with ground turkey, pinto beans, chili beans, black beans, lots of onions, diced jalapeno peppers......so good.

So chili can be made from beans. Hmmm...

See now this thread has me really craving some chili! If only the weather would cooperate

Does anyone add any crackers? I grew up with oyster crackers with my mom's chili then I used to do saltines but now my husband and I do ritz crackers.

I'm not saying I'm an aficionado, but Chili is my middle name. ;)

I prefer no beans, but definitely make it all from scratch with cheese &/or sour cream and onions on top!!
Beef, peppers, onions, tomatoes, garlic, some times a small shot of bbq sauce (or other type of sauce, like J. Lee Roy's Seafood Sauce) Cumin is crucial, salt, pepper, sometimes chili powder, sometime cayenne, etc. unless making chicken chili.

Love chili. Made some last week.
No beans
Mine has ground beef, kielbasa, onion, chili powder, cumin, picante sauce, tomato sauce.
Top with cheese sour cream
I never tried Kielbasa, usually just ground pork if adding anything besides beef.
No onions on top?

I like a pot of normal chili but I really like Cincinnati chili (chili over spaghetti and topped with cheese and onions). I prefer no beans in a pot of chili but I can tolerate them.
There is a place in Burbank called "Chili John's" that does it that way, so freakin good!!!
Since 1946... and yes Walt ate there. :)

I've been known to toss some pretzel goldfish on my chili or salad.
Adds a little nice crunch.
