Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend 2022 (Nov. 3-6, 2022)

Hey runDISers, I've never done the bag check, but I'm considering it now because the temps are higher and I won't want to carry as much stuff for the half. Is there a cut-off time to drop off the bags?

I'm coming someone who is driving in, and keeps insisting we can "leave at 4am because we're 15 min away". I'm really nervous about that plan, and I may have to get my own taxi because I don't want to get stuck on the road and miss the race start.

I think you need to be parked by 4AM. So leaving at 4 would not work.

That's an interesting question. I looked at runDisney.com as well as the Event Guide. There is NO information about a time at which they close off the gEAR bag drop off.

I don’t know about a cutoff for bag drop, but the only way into EP parking closes at 4:30 - that’s cutting things way too close, IMO. If you hit traffic (and leaving that late you likely would), you could be shut out of the race.

that’s insanity. The event guide says parked by 4am. They close the road into Epcot because we are running on it. You also have to go through Epcot’s main gate security and walk all the way over to the race area and bag drop. The walk from bag drop to the half corrals is around a mile. Here’s all the info for parking and road closures.

I doubt there is a cutoff time for bag check. It isn't like they move anywhere.

That being said get a taxi without a doubt. Even getting there at 4 am is cutting it way too close. Once you get in the parking lot, you need to walk from the parking lot to the Epcot entrance to go through security. Then walk through the prerace area. And then about 1 mile to the corrals. You'll never make it.

In addition they will start closing corrals before 5 a.m. and as soon as the race starts, you will be moving up. Slowly but moving nonetheless.

Thanks all very much! Your insights and concerns match my own, it was a helpful sanity check since they kept saying I "didn't need to worry about getting there so early." I'm going to have another conversation tonight with my race buddy. If they keep insisting on leaving at 4am, I'm going to figure out a taxi situation from the rental house. Thank you again, it was very helpful to hear y'alls thoughts.

Thanks also for the insights to bag check... :cutie:

Have you ever used Uber or Lyft? They would be much easier than figuring out a taxi. And you could schedule them in advance.

Does anyone know what on-course fuel will be available for the half? I know last season was honey stinger chews but I can't find anything in the event guide that says.
Stopped at the honey stinger booth for some free fuel today and found out that they are not the on course provider! The guy at the booth thinks it's jelly belly.

What? They were even giving out free honey stinger waffles at the platinum bib pickup and there were some in the post race box today. That's really surprising

Runner tracking now has email!

I guess time will tell but that's what the both told me 🤷‍♀️

Btw, runner tracking has email as an option now! I was able to sign up for texts through Verizon's vtext option (your phone number @vtext.com, I.e. 9998675309@vtext.com). Accidentally had a typo the first time so hopefully that poor soul unsubscribes before I blow up their phone in the pre morning hours tomorrow 🤣.
