Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend 2022 (Nov. 3-6, 2022)

There is a store at the finish line, but sadly they don't reserve any items for it. However, they do sometimes have limited amounts of hot items that people return or exchange. It's not limited to runners but I've never seen any obvious resellers there. I'd love to see the "I Did It" merch reserved for that finish line store.

Oh I have NO illusions that any of this will actually happen or that they will use the data to the extent that they could. Just a little bit of wishful thinking.

Isn't that basically what Club rD is? Only Platinum gets any kind of "retreat" experience, and it's only at the Expo. There is ZERO race day benefit to the club aside from a tiny logo on the bib and bumped corral placement for the limited number of top tier members.
Not exactly. The retreat was a climate controlled tent with tables and chairs, private meet and greets with characters, private bag check, private porta potties and food pre and post race. It was decent food too. There was also massage (cost extra), medical staff and a bar. They had tvs broadcasting the finish line too. An added bonus was getting into the expo an hour early. Retreat has not come back since Covid or maybe it was gone before that??? I am pretty sure they are coming up with a “new and improved” experience where you will pay more and get less just to entice people who want to get into the expo first.

I knew it had seating and tents but had no idea about the rest of it! Wow -- sounds amazing!

Allow preorders of 1 of each item for each registered person with an email code to order. They could send the emails today and end orders on Sunday for example If they run out then so be it. Leave the expo as first come first served.

Apart from the fact that the race courses are too similar to the other ones and that I prolly won't get into the Merchandise Shop on the 3rd, I'm starting to feel excited for the races. Only 9 days left!

Has anyone started peeking at the weather forecasts?
I've been checking the weather for a month. The temps have continued to trend upward. Hoping for the best.

I have never understood why Disney doesn't just add these items to Shop Disney, or just list all the items for the race online. Even though they are bringing back pre-orders, they only have a limited amount of items listed, most are "collections" and the pics are so bad that they ought to be embarrassed to have them on the page. I would think having a race item purchase site would probably make them so much more money. I'd even pay to have it shipped to not have to contend with the merchandise chaos. Even when the items in the spring didn't arrive on time, why not send out an email to the runners and offer the items to them via a purchase site instead of offloading them immediately to the outlets. They have ways to of making sure that you are a DVC member in order to purchase some items, they have the ability to restrict RunDisney items in the same way.

FYI I posted this over on the Club rD thread, but since we're talking about expo and early access, I thought it might be of interest. I emailed to find out the process for early access, and while they didn't exactly give me those details, they did give me the early access times for Platinum and Gold members.

Club runDisney Platinum and Gold Membership benefits include early access to the runDisney Merchandise Shop at the runDisney Health & Fitness Expo. Early access to the runDisney Merchandise shop is only for Day 1 of the runDisney Health & Fitness Expo at each runDisney race weekend. For the Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend, Day 1 is on Thursday, November 3rd, 2022.

The following times are for early access for the following Club runDisney members:
  • Platinum Members: 8:30-9:45 am EST
  • Gold Members: 9:00-9:45 am EST

I know last year with wine & dine things like shoe ornaments were shipped to those that pre ordered and than were offloaded to cast connection and just sat there

This is a great example of either incompetence or laziness. They had the email of everyone that ran. They could have taken the time and effort to send a link to those people to buy them before shipping them off. It might have cost a little time and money but if they weren't human excrement they would have invested it in their customers. They didn't.

If they weren't garbage they would do positive things for the runners even if it didn't help their bottom line.

Hey folks, I think we might be getting a little off the deep end here - it's possible to critique the rD staff and to strongly disagree with their decisions while still remembering that they are people with families and lives and all that. I'm seeing lots of ideas that sound like they would improve the race experience, but just because rD hasn't chosen to do them doesn't make the humans involved evil or stupid. I love how encouraging the rD discussion normally is; let's keep it that way!

It's been looking a little warmer than I would like, personally.
Me too! It also looks to be cloudy, which I'm good with, but the highs were only in the 70's when I first started looking, now they have risen to the 80's. No need to worry about packing any layers I guess.

Hey all, I haven’t been on much this past year. Just dealing with life and family issues. Needless to say my fitness has gone down hill. But I’ve been able to do some training. No matter the course or weather or expo experience, I’m looking forward to doing all the races and being around this great community!

I see it’s time for my traditional Floridian message:

NEVER TRUST A WEATHER FORECAST MORE THAN 24 HOURS OUT! 🤣

Could be 50, could be 80: fall in central FL is a toss-up and subject to whatever fronts happen to come along. 100 is unlikely, as is 30, but anything between is a real possibility. My approach to all fall, winter and spring WDW races is the same: I have a race outfit planned with alternate layers and throwaways in mind if needed, and I ALWAYS pack a poncho and Mylar, just in case.

I agree and I was raised in Florida. I do have mylar blankets, but it will have to drastically change to get anywhere near a temperature requiring layers for me. Anything above 60 (probably even 55) and I'm running in shorts and short sleeves or tanks. I would love for it to be colder though! We are driving, camping at Fort Wilderness for 2 weeks, so I'll have every kind of clothing imaginable in the camper!

For me, either 50 or 80 is going to be shorts weather for the races. The question is only going to be t-shirt or tank top. If the current predictions hold, I know that it's going to be a tank. That being said, I'm still packing the mylar simply because it's small and light and that way I can leave it packed for Marathon Weekend.

I'm going back and forth on whether to buy a rain jacket now (I think I found one that would work) or to hold off. If I hold off and rain comes in the forecast, I'm going to be very, very unhappy so I might just do it.

It's not the running but the standing around in the corrals that bother me with the cold. I'll be fine running no matter what. But freezing cold and raining sucks to stand in.

I’m with you. Im not out there to set a record; I’m there to finish, and don’t want to be tortured any more than necessary. Give me sixties and let me adjust to the heat. I’ll take more of that than rainy/cold when standing for an hour or two to start.

Does anyone know what on-course fuel will be available for the half? I know last season was honey stinger chews but I can't find anything in the event guide that says.

Do you need to have your Magic Band on when you run for the photos to show on your account? Or can I just have my bib?
