Toy Story Land

I believe some members were able to get a last minute reservation once the preview details were released.
We went to Pandora preview as passholders last year. It was great (at least the day that we were there). I let our AP expire but also bought into DVC just last month, purchased AP but haven't activated as we haven't had a trip and won't before any spring/early summer previews take place. So I will assume we won't get in but hold out just enough hope to continue stalking The DIS in case a preview announcement is made and I am able to make a last minute reservation after I know what days it will be.

I am also hoping to AP preview it. For Pandora it was fantastic. Getting a FP for FOP is still really really hard even now. They really ought to give AP perk of 60 day FP even if you are not staying on site- many do even 1 day trips.

I somehow missed this - they are really getting rid of Star Tours when they open the Star Wars land? That seems .... to not make sense to me.
It’s not connected to the land unless they create some sort of backstage “tunnel” to the land. It would be fairly easy to rethemed too.

Well that makes sense I suppose, it just never dawned on me that they would get RID of a Star Wars ride with how much of a draw star wars is. I'll adapt to change, but it'll be a bit of a bummer as that was the very first ride my kids every rode at DW, and they try to make it either their first or last (or both) ride every trip.

It’s not a certainty it will leave of course but it’s very likely. The ride system would also stay just themed to something else. You have plenty of time before anything would change too.

I think "uninspired" is going to be a theme for this land...

Not for young children. Teens and adults get Pandora and Star Wars. Makes sense to do something for the 10 & under crowd doesn't it? After all, they are Disney's future consumers.

Excellent point. I gotta remember this one is for the kids.

I'm an adult who loves Toy Story and feel that the whole thing is going to be awesome. Something for everyone! Pandora certainly is not my cup of tea.

Is the Slinky dog ride like the one they have at Euro Disney in Paris?

Jenn

To elaborate on that @rteetz said, the new Slinky Dog Dash is more of a full roller coaster, probably about on the level of 7DMT. The Paris one is basically one of those "caterpillar" rides that goes in a wavy oval. This will have launches and hills and all that jazz. It looks great to me, though "intensity" is not my only measure of a coaster's quality.

@bioreconstruct on Twitter posts regular birds-eye view updates of the construction of the two new lands. Based on the most recent pictures, I think that an opening by Memorial Day is definitely a possiblity. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, as I will be there from May 30-June 7th! Below are some pictures from @bioreconstruct's Twitter account on November 23rd.

I keep tabs on all aerials in my aerial imagery thread on rumors and news as well. Star Wars images were posted in there today for example.

Alien Swirling Saucer. Same as Mater's Junkyard Jamboree in Carsland.
That looks like fun! It's dopey, but fun!

I would guess Tier 2 for both.
Huh no kidding , I was betting one or both would be Tier 1 to start just because of the popularity.

When I finished paying for next June's trip June 3rd thru June 13th) the CM on the line asked if I was booking those dates to get to the Toy Story opening. I have learned from the posters here that those people tend to not know anything about openings etc but I did find it interesting and I noticed that Touring Plans has HS as an 8 or 9 on our 2nd day in HS.
You realize you said June three times in the same sentence :duck:...Just kidding, I'll actually be there those same dates next year. I'm betting it'll open in late May like Pandora did last year. It'll be fun. Cheers! :)

Curious question for anyone that is in the know. So I understand that the Toy Story mania entrance will be moved to inside Toy Story land, right? If, so, will all the queque be moved inside there too. And what about Mr. Potatoe head and his stand up comedy for the queque. I love the TSMM queque very much, especially the stairs part where it builds up the excitement. I hope it's the same set-up.

Also, would the alien ride be inside? I know it's like that mater ride in DL which is outside. ANd I remember watching a Disney Parks imagineer video talk about "the claw" will be part of the alien ride. Any inside scoop on the claw purpose?

Yes, Zebra, I am very excited to the new land. I always love Toy Story and that was the first computer animation movie I saw in the movie theaters back in 1995. I was completely blown away with that technology. I remember telling everyone the next day at the office about the movie and how impressive computer animation was. I love each and every movie of Toy Story and can't wait to see this land.

Yes queue moves to TSL. Mr Potato head is supposed to return when that opens.

The alien ride has a roof.
