September 5th 2016, 4 Night Dream Cruise

This is our first cruise ever. I'm having anxiety over it. Travelling with husband and two kids (8/9). Any suggestions would help!
Oh yea, it's definitely getting real, now!!
This is our first cruise as well. My wife and I and 2 kids (10,6) will be going. Super excited, just trying to remember everything I've heard, watched and read about over the last & months. Welcome !!

We are sailing on the 5th of September. We have cruised with Disney 7 times, but have never participated with the FE. Myself, husband and our youngest son (12) are so excited to participate. Any help in getting started would be great.

Easy to make Fish Extenders pockets. It's no fun to buy ones. I will find you a link that I used to create mine out of Duct Tape, ziplock bags and a sharpie if you would like.

Or sorry little letters not a sharpie. Or if you are into sewing then just go to google and put in how to make a fish extenders and get the pattern online.

350 days ago, I typed the first post of this thread. Since then, there have been 727 post, over 2 posts per day. That is awesome. I want to thank all of the Dreamers that helped make the time fly by and tell you all how much we are looking forward to meeting you on the ship.

THANKS!!!!!!

It's been a pleasure to belong to such an active cruise thread.

Tomorrow I'll be going candy shopping!

Thanks Randy!! I started on this board and particularly this thread about 8 months ago with post #31. I've even graduated from "Earning My Ears" to "Mouseketeer" just recently.
It seems like we have a nice little group of Dreamers, all willing to help out the others with info. Looking forward to meeting as many of you as we can. Thank you all for the great tips and tricks you shared with us.
See Ya Real Soon!!:smickey:

Recently there have been some new posters, one or two posts.:welcome:
Come join the conversation. We've planned a breakfast meet for Nassau day. Unless you have an early excursion, we all hope you'll come join us.

If you do have an excursion that day, and you join the conversation here, and think it will be fun to get together, perhaps we some can also plan to meet for breakfast on the sea day.

WELCOME TO THE DREAMERS....... I think the FE sign up may be over.

It seems some new folks are making FE, and I do not know if there are any FE groups open. I collect pins, if any of the new folks want to participate in a "new pin" exchange using the FEs I would organize, with deadline August 31. Pins are available for purchase on the ship, so should be relatively easy, just be sure to bring a gift wrap to deliver the pin in.

Any interest?

What to pack, how much to bring, necessities? Motion sickness meds? What to do/things to avoid? How much extra money do we need? Have kids go to kids club, yes/no? any advice is appreciated!

Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, more casual clothes, unless your family does want a more formal picture. There is a guest laundry to use if you need it. Are you going to Palo or Remy? Check the dress code.

Cash is not really needed except for tipping the porters at the port. We do give $1-2 a bag. We also tip room service cash, but I think you can just add to your on board account.

Do your kids like "kids clubs." There are times you can go with them to see. My grandkids were not interested except at the open house times. I hope someone else helps you with that.

Tom brings a non drowsy motion sickness aide. The patch gave him a headache.

Be aware of the gratuities. They will be automatically put on your account. The amount per person, Restaurant server $ stateroom host(ess) each $16, head server $4, assistant server $12. That's another time you may want to have some cash to put in the envelop. You can put more on your onboard account for each.

The last night on board, Guest Services has very long lines. Try to do what you can to avoid that night. Shutters, the photo shop is crazy busy that last night as well.

Read the navigator as you board the ship, and at night. Do plan your next day's adventures. You can modify, but at least look at it so you don't have remorse that you missed something of interest. Tom and I definitely want to see some movies, and the newest ones schedule will be on the first days navigator. We will definitely us the phone app and block out the viewing times we want. Yes, download the app if you haven't.

On the first day only, you can sign up for a free internet package. Information on how to is in the navigator. Check with the internet help person to be sure you shut off anything that just drains usage.

Breathe, have fun.

Thank you so much Bobbi! I'm sure you will figure out who we are by my anxiety! Enjoy!!

If you find you like cruising, consider booking another cruise on board. There's a discount on current pricing and on board credit offered. You get full refund if you decide to cancel. Now, if you buy insurance up front, I am not sure about that refund.

However, sometimes the wait is very long to talk to the person, you can just fill out a card and you will get the quote back in your stateroom. You could also check the hours and be there to talk during the day which could have shorter lines. We know which cruise we'll be booking for next year! There's one from NYC to San Juan that we hope to be on!

Just thought of something, we have a small bag with over the counter medicines. They cost a lot on the ship. However, don't beat yourself up if you forget something!
