Inconsiderate Cruisers

There are very few things that 'annoy me' but there are a few inconsiderate things that just make me shake my head - and I'm sorry, this is not exactly what the discussion has been about. But for me, if you are standing at the elevator waiting, it seems to me that you would be one of the first ones in. I just can't believe how people walk right up and barge in - despite the people that have been waiting. The second thing that bothers me is when your kids are waiting at the front for a show. We, as mom and dad, are standing at the side. Then, out of nowhere, a super tall adult will step in front (i.e. pushes) two small little girls out and they can't see. Anyhow, sorry for my vent. Things like room service trays in the halls don't bother me but these two things do :) #firstworldproblems

Probably. It's just funny because DH and I are the opposite. And we are both total slobs at home, but we don't leave messes for other people.

It's nice to see so many positive comments. I always take initiative to start cleaning up after us when traveling with my extended family. Not only out of respect towards other passengers and the crew, but hopefully also to show my nephews and nieces that being privileged to be able to go on dream vacations doesn't mean that you can't be considerate and humble. I was really happy to see the kids try to clean up after themselves every time we'd sat down somewhere on our last cruise, whether it be in Cabanas, our rooms, or the concierge lounge.

I can't speak to your mom specifically, but I think some folks who have had jobs like that might get on the ship and think "I've put up with crap like that for years. Now it's MY turn to leave a mess behind and have someone clean up after me."
I doubt it, I've been in food service for over 30 years and never ever leave a mess. Most of the time servers thank me for how we leave the table.

Inconsiderate cruisers - ignoring the rules and taking kids into the Cove Cafe.. (And taking advantage of the meek staff members who dont chase them out quick)...

Some people don't think rules apply to them, I guess.

Wait, isn't Cove Cafe the coffee shop? You can't take a kid into a coffee shop, really?

Wow. Thanks for the info. Is the no kid rule in the morning too? I gotta have decent coffee and didn't realize I'd have to ditch my kids to get it :rotfl:
Cove Cafe is in the adult-only Quiet Cove area. I believe you can get the same coffee from the Vista Cafe on deck 4, however.

Hate the children in the adult area. I'll personally go inform the parents it's an adult only area. Surprisingly most are quite unaware that even though its an adult area- their children are not welcome. Go figure. I always stick my room service trays out in the hallway- we've left it in the room before and have had it sit in there for days, especially if theres cookies or something left on a plate we didn't finish. Sticking it outside the room and its never been out there for more than a few hours. Perhaps there's simply a lot of people ordering room service on these cruises, and y'all are overwhelmed with the sheer quantity of trays in the hallways more-so than the true "dirtiness" or whatever. Most room service trays I see are totally polished off.
Oh well. Also can't stand the inconsiderate chair savers whether its in the theater or on deck. Oh well! Still love cruising despite all these minor inconveniences, I can only imagine how much those poor CM's put up with ::eek:

I agree this drives me crazy, but I think it drives my husband crazier than me because the last few years he has taken to "informing" people who do this of societal rules. When he first started doing it, I just turned bright red. Now, I think of it as him doing a service.

We have always cleaned and/or straightened up after ourselves before leaving a deck table or Cabanas.

Also take this to the next level and straighten up our stateroom each day before leaving. I've passed by other rooms that were open as the steward was getting ready
to clean. What a mess some of them were - clothes, towels, etc. just strewn everywhere and dropped wherever! Often wondered what their homes looked like.

Sort of along the same lines, have you ever seen the "passenger shaming" Instagram (and Facebook and Twitter) pages? Holy cow!

Can't believe how people act in public. You never know who is taking your photo, so act in a way that your Mama would be proud.

Adults who do not clean up after their children frustrates me. DS3 still misses his mouth occasionally and DH and I will be picking up any larger food pieces off the floor whether on a cruise or in any restaurant. It amazes me when I see a family leave a table in any restaurant and it looks like a tornado struck! Yuck!!!

When it comes to cleaning up after our toddlers. sometimes we clean up and sometimes we ask for stuff to clean up (like a broom) and are usually told not to. We always leave a nice tip, generally nicer if we know the mess is worse. It's just that sometimes the overweight mom being on my hands and knees on the floor picking up food with my bare hands causes the servers/owners at a restaurant to be MORE uncomfortable (versus the servers who have rags, brooms, etc.)

First time cruiser here (this summer).
What is the proper protocol for a room service tray?
Is there a place to take it out yourself when coming and going?
I've never ordered room service before but have seen the trays in the hallways when staying at hotels.
Definitely gives a trashy feel to a nice hotel like the Disneyland Hotel as we are coming and going.
I was planning on trying room service on our cruise for breakfast a couple mornings.
