Hey, is there a Disney Dating Service?!

Kristen,

I, too, am staying home for the holidays for the first time since 2002. While I have much to be thankful for, it'll feel weird not gearing up for a trip to WDW next month. After today, and Thursday, December 4, I won't use any vacation days for several months.

I don't know about a dating site, working. But I met my fiance in the chat room over on the old dismates site. And just let me tell you. I am the luckiest fellow in the world. I have a suggestion though. Is there anyway that you could combine the site you are working on with the gamer one you had. One being heavily female and the other being heavily male. It also seems to me gamers would have the mind set to be into Disney, if introduced.:confused3 Just an idea.
They call me Smee

that is just a BRILLIANT idea!!!!

too bad we couldn't break into World Of Warcraft and build a little Disney World corner in that universe!

I am a Jersey boy living in Georgia. How is that for Prince Charming? I would love to meet a woman that loves all things Disney:love:

We don't need a website. We have JellyRolls (or JR, or JRs, or JR's, or something... I never seem to get it right...). You can visit the club in lieu of any sort of dating service, and it's a lot more fun than going on a date.

Since I visited for the first time this past Saturday, here's my understanding of how it works:

1) Everyone meets at this wonderful piano bar. There are two pianos up front, with continuous loud music playing. The advantage here is that you don't have to come up with anything clever to say, since no one will be able to hear you anyway.

2) Want them to play a particular song? Just slip up to the front and drop off a piece of paper with the title of the song, preferably with some money. Then, you can return to your table secure in the knowledge that eventually, they will play the Tree Song just for you.

3) Since it's a sing-a-long, you will have the opportunity to showcase your vocal talents. However, no one will be able to hear you (see point 1). You don't even need to know the words; just alternate between "banana" and "watermelon", and people will think you know the lyrics to everything.

4) You can show off your mad dance skillz, too (see point 2). Hint: there's a point in the Tree Song where you have to twirl around and twiddle your fingers. That part of the song refers to grass.

4a) No, not that kind of grass.

5) They have tasty beverages with Very Suggestive Names.

6) They make a really good martini, but they have no olives.

7) Finally, everyone who is there will probably really like Disney, and if they're on this board, then they REALLY like Disney, so you know that they're really cool. :)

However, if you really want the whole dating service experience, you can always start a thread asking why there aren't any people that are like the kind of person you are looking for. So far, those threads typically prompt people to respond who actually fit the criteria, just to Prove You Wrong.

Or, we could create our own eHarmony (dHarmony?), and have one of the mods to hook people up. I'm pretty sure that if someone would be willing to pay one of them $50 per month, they'll find a match eventually.

What do you think, Ang? You could get a pretty good business going here... :rotfl:

Well I think I'll just give up an settle for a guy I can convert to the "Disney Way" :stir: mmmmuhhhhaaa :rotfl: I mean really where are the Maryland Disney guys hanging out at? If anyone knows where, can ya point them in my direction........... Me, just had a birthday Dec 8th turned 30, no kids, no drama, just a really nice gal. Maybe I'll ask Santa :rotfl:

Hahaha, maybe since we both work from home and you are the computer guru here we should make it happen....:goodvibes Actually, I just wait and talk to everyone and then when I get good vibes about 2 people I start playing matchmaker:angel:   As for me, my belief where I am concerned is that when it is meant to be it will fall into place, nothing I am going to force...but hey what other online community but the disboards makes it possible to find others who love Disney, so if you make plans to meet at WDW and it turns out to be a Happily Ever After that makes it all the more special :woohoo: It happened for Cait and Bob and she will be moving a million miles away to where he is shortly so it can happen for others :) Just keep plenty of good thoughts and may all our Happily Ever Afters come true :grouphug:

John,

That was and AWESOME post. It described the experience to a T. It was great meeting you and eveyone else at JRs that night.

John

JohnEric....you said it. JR's is an awesome place to have DisMeets. It was nice meeting you this trip, even if it was only for a few hours. Maybe next time. :thumbsup2

Yes, I really did have a good time, and it was a great experience... perfect for my first time! I'm usually quite a talker, though (I know, you'd never guess that from my posts here), so I'm hopeful that next time we can also find a place where we can get a big group together and have a conversation, too. :teeth: Or maybe at least get a table that's not quite so close to the front...

Matchmaker? Have I got a quote for you!

[about Yente, the matchmaker]
Tzeitel: But Mama, the men she finds. The last one was so old and he was bald. He had no hair.
Golde: A poor girl without a dowry can't be so particular. You want hair, marry a monkey.

:worship: JohnEric ! Awesome post!!!!! :rotfl2:

Appreciation is always welcome, thank you! So glad I could brighten your day!

(Now, where do I mail the check?)

John

It was a lot of fun... and another great thing about JRs, they make a good, strong martini. So even when you're not with a great group of people, you can still have a fun time! My experience is that if you drink enough, people become a lot more interesting.

Yes it was, thanks! Sorry we didn't get to talk more... but since I can get down there fairly often... I'm sure there will be many more good times to come!

And at least we now all know the dance... :dance3:

:sad1: I missed all the fun :sad1:

Well, it was wonderful seeing you anyway, and I believe that many of us had a drink in your honor, and some had several. And, possibly, a few more after that. :thanks:

Hey Sewfun, Welcome to this part of the forum. Good luck on finding your PC. I'm looking for a sweet Princess myself. My problem is I'm stuck in the deep south. I have about 3 more years before I can retire and move to Orlando. At least that what I hope.

Hey, if you're still single in three years, I'll be waiting in Orlando for you. LOL, I live about 30 minutes from the Mouse and I always think the same thing too...how hard can this be...I feel the same as you. I feel like I'm stuck in an area where I'm not attracted to anyone that lives locally. Hurry up and retire...LOL...hey I hear my town has a great fire department..you can even watch TV BEFORE 5pm...LOL
