It's 4.20AM, back for a day and not fully time adjusted. There is no better time to start a trip report!!!!

Where: Disneyworld

When: From 23 September

Who is Travelling:

Me: No explanation required
DH:
DD9: Just turned 9.
SIL: Sister in Law, first trip to the US
DN7: Dear Niece. BFF to DD. First trip to the US

History of the Trip:
We were going to visit Disneyland to take DN but when Qantas announced the return route to Dallas we picked up $1000 fares. SIL ended up coming along too!

We had a few issues on the trip, most of them not biggies but together it's not fun. I promise I'll try not to be too negative :rolleyes1

We arrived at Sydney Airport with plenty of time to spare and checked in. The agent was able to check our bags through to Orlando, but not us! This will become important later on. We did receive our preferred seating :cool1:for the 15 hour flight to Dallas in the fluffy seat section of Economy (Premium Economy Seats they make avail to regular Economy pax.)

Here is the leg room for DH and I. It is exit row, but we had the foot rests, extendable tray table, wider seats etc.

Here is from left SIL, DN, and DD. They had the bulkhead of these seats next to us:

Food on board:

Started with bottled water: OK, not too exciting, but after a while the photos slow down a bit!!!

I selected the beef for lunch. It wasn't too bad. DH had beef as well and I forgot to take a pic of the girl's children's meals.

I had the Cereal breakfast. There was something hot but I didn't think it would be too good after waiting for so so so long to be reheated:

We cleared customs without any issues. Collected our bags and did the drop off.

We went to the American Airlines agent to get our boarding passes. Turns out we weren't checked in. He did manage to get the 5 of us onboard but separated through out the plane. He sent us up to the gate with instructions that they may be able to do something for us. I somehow, very tired, put on my nice happy face and remembered my manners and got us together. The gate agent paged other customers and had them moved. My guess was about 25-30 Aussies coming in on the same Qantas Flight that were going to MCO. Some were check in from Sydney. Some of the others didn't get on their booked flight and were moved to the following flight.

Arrived at MCO, flight was on time. The storm that had closed the airport and was reopened just as we were due to arrive. Got our bags, limo picked us up, driver was wonderful. Driver "confirmed" our flight home and pick up time. So we thought. You'll need to wait for the final day for more on this, but I'm sure you can guess!!!

Made it to Port Orleans French Quarter. We were in Building 1, ground floor as requested. DD's wheel chair and other parcels had arrived!

So no more pics for Day 1 - I was too tired!

Love the update and the food porn. You know how I'm a sucker for that. Sorry to hear there were mix ups with being checked in. So frustrating but you did amazingly well considering how tired you were. Well done.

Love the fluffy seats! Always nice to have a little extra comfort on a long flight. Looking forward to the rest of your report. :goodvibes

A TR! A TR! :cool1:

With FOOD PORN......okay....it might be airline food.....but....with FOOD PORN!!

Nice fluffly seats....pity about the service.

I'm back with day 2: Still no sign of bags, on hold now with Qantas, currently 40 minutes. It's a shame about the ground staff and such because this time they got the onboard service right. I digress.

We didn't have any real plans for for this day. We knew we would head to Magic Kingdom. I had an ADR at Tony's Town Square for lunch, then Spirit of Aloha for DH, DD, and I, and SIL was off to 1900 Park Fare for dinner.

The parks were very quiet with most things being walk on to 15 minutes max wait which was a bonus. From memory, Splash Mountain x 3, BTMRR, HM, Pirates, Train before it was time to get ready for dinner.

You'll find there are very few pics of me. That's ok!!!!

Lunch at Tony's Town Square

SIL and DN

My appetiser. Sounds funny. I might go back to using Australian words. My entree which DD ended up eating. It was a chowder of some type. I liked it, she liked it a lot!!!

DH's - was a garlic bread with tomatoes on top. Had a good name which I can't remember!

Adult's Version of the Child's Pizza - DD9 was an Disney Adult for dining purposes this trip.

DN also had the cheese pizza, but she had the kids one. (The bread in the top left is from DH's appetiser.)

Having had a bite of both I much preferred the adults version, and so did DD. The sauce was very much like the one I get at our local Woodfire Pizza place.

Both SIL and I had a chicken Caesar Salad. Chicken was a little dry, but not too bad.

DH had the chicken parma. Again a little dry, but it was ok. On par with an average club parma from home.

Desert. Yum.

Both DD and I had the ice cream bombe with a biscuit base, chocolate and vanilla ice cream and choc hard topping.

DH and SIL had the cheesecake each.

DN had a plate of fruit. No pic, we can imagine :rotfl:

After lunch we met Mary Poppins and Pinocchio

Side note: Just off phone, finally, bags are in Australia, need to go through customs, may receive them late this afternoon.

This afternoon I remembered why I hate some USA food. At the airport the day before I had some post mix coke and a sweet. I was tired and forgot where I was when getting a drink. A lot of the US sugars don't agree with me and I was unwell for the next couple of days. On top of the heat and tiredness. In regular temps it was about 33 with 95%+ humidity. You could see the humidity.

Spirit of Aloha was garbage. I'm sorry that I went. The food was ok. The show was the quality of a poor school production. Sound quality was shocking. The guy with the fire was best, but he only lasted 2 minutes! We were seated heaps back from the stage which didn't help. Maybe I felt that way because I was a little crook, but there were a heap of others commenting on the way out on how disappointed they were.

Next report will be Day 3: Epcot including Princess Dinner.

Is it wrong that my favourite photos so far are of the food :rotfl2::rotfl2:. You even made the plane food look good :lmao:.

Bummer about the Spirit of Aloha thing, sounds like a waste of money.

Your girls look sooooo happy with Pinocchio. I'm so jealous, I would love to meet him.

Sorry to hear you were unwell for a few days.

Loving the TR so far... am enjoying the pics of the food as well. My fave so far though has to be Mary Poppins ... a little biased though since she is by far my all time fave

I am absolutely LOVING the food porn!!!!! It's making me so hungry!

The girls mickey ears are cute! I like them in the white.

Sorry Spirit of Aloha wasn't that great. I didn't mind it the night we went, it was no where near as good as a real hawaiian luau that I have been to many times in honolulu, but it was ok. You luau seemed to be in the daylight, ours was completely in the dark, maybe that added to the ambiance a little. It's still not something that I would rush back to, it's a been there done that type of show.

Looking forward to the rest of your report

(oh and I'm glad your bags are on their way! Lost luggage, what a nightmare)

:goodvibesI hope you get your bags today:goodvibes
Love reading your trip report so far :rolleyes1 i might have to think about doing one myself.
I think there is something wrong with my family because we hardly take any food pictures :rotfl:

I see you've put that lens to good use. I'm with Shuttergirl and Aussietravellers. Food porn! Food porn! Food porn!
:worship: :worship:

ps. Glad you're getting luggage back.

Yeah, a trip report. I'm set.

Loving the food, sorry to hear about all the mishaps

Get some sleep so you can share some more.

Yay! A TR! Sorry to hear about the hiccups to the start of the trip. You've got some lovely photos there. Thank you for all the details on the food! I usually find it hard taking photos at meal times due to multiple reasons like children, extreme hunger etc. You've inspired me. I actually took photos at lunch today!

I was going to reply as a multi quote - then I realised nearly every comment is about the food!!! There are still a few food pics to go, but they will slow down. Sorry.

Side note, got our bags back about 4pm yesterday. I'm doing the washing now as I was too tired last night. Jet lag almost gone!

Back to the trip report:

Day 3: Epcot

We met SIL and DN and had a quick breakfast in the food court. Now I don't have any pics of our break, but I do have pictures of POFQ taken at sunrise, and of some pastries!

Now, back to Epcot!!!

It was hot and humid.

We did Living with the Land, now that was exciting, NOT!, Soarin, the girls and SIL did Mission Space, picked up Fast Passes for Test Track. We had ice creams, watched the fountains a bit. We left the park around noon as the girls had appointments that afternoon prior to dinner. Lunch back at POFQ.

Pictures from the morning.
