Shutdown or Lockdown in your area?

I fully expect this to expand sooner than any of us would really like it too. I am 2 hours from SF outside of the "shelter in place" order but I see it coming.

Yes,schools are closed here also, but our Governor has asked daycares to remain open. I get it,many people need to work, but if my profession is so important to our society, then why are we so undervalued?

Right? "Let's protect the *real* teachers and the rest of you that work with kids can fend for yourselves".

My county is one of the shelter in residence areas. I’m doing one last hurrah with my kid going out to eat before the restrictions kick in. There are a boatload of exceptions, and we’ll probably get take out meals. Right now it’s a bit surreal. Barely saw any cars in the restaurant parking lot. Most people are keeping a respectful distance from each other, but some don’t seem to have gotten the memo. This place would normally be fairly busy, but I’m only seeing about a fourth of what I’d normally expect.

Statewide curfew of 8pm to 5am was announced today in New Jersey. Nobody except essential personnel or workers going to/from their late jobs are supposed to be on the roads during those hours.

Things keep changing by the hour and it's really starting to stress me out.

Death by a thousand cuts.

This is why there should have just been a uniform shutdown across the board and get it done sooner than later. We’ve seen examples already of both methods in Asia and Europe. No idea why we’re following the method of the unsuccessful countries step by step.

NY, CT and NJ are taking joint regional action to reduce the spread of COVID19:

Effective 8PM TONIGHT:

-Crowd capacity reduced to 50
-Restaurants/bars will be takeout/delivery ONLY
-Gyms closed
-Movie theaters closed
-Casinos closed

I also heard there will be a 10p curfew to 5am.

They're asking daycares to remain open for kids whose parents have "essential jobs" and no other childcare options. That would be healthcare, people who work in grocery stores (and other food suppliers), pharmacies, post offices, etc. There are some people who have to get to work each day to keep essential services open and really need their childcare to be available. People who are working from home are expected to keep their kids home with them.

They are specifically saying it is Not a curfew ...but a strong suggestion for all non essential persons to be in/curtailed 8pm to 5 am. A way to lessen the blow? Who knows...
Curfew or not it’s what makes sense. So many people with no common sense or ignorant of the gravity or just don’t care??

Again read about Italy ( forgot the town name) it’s horrifying ...they are saying an entire generation ( elderly) is being wiped out. Last rites and no treatment for them.
Prayers for all those everywhere being affected by the virus. So sad.

Stay home and protect yourselves and others around you.
This too shall pass.... good health n safety to all.

Bergamo and the rest of Lombardy is having a rough time :( 10 pages of obituaries instead of the normal 1.

I promise you the majority of people are not going to keep their kids home no matter if they're working or not. I've been doing this over 2 decades - in my experience, most people don't want their kids around all day, even if they have that chance.

Specialty stores are now starting to close: Yankee Candle (not sure if they are covering pay for employees), Sephora (paying employees base pay for scheduled shifts), Bath and Body Works (paying employees currently).

So if you need hand sanitizer you might see it come back in stock online @Bath and Body Works as they will be moving store line merchandise to the online store.

In Pennsylvania yesterday, the governor ordered all non essential businesses to close. But there is no enforcement. Certain things are still open: grocery stores, pharmacies, gas stations, big box stores, banks, some other stuff. My office is having us work from home for the next two weeks.

We had to go to CVS for some meds and to a grocery store, and boy, you could certainly tell people were staying home. I mean, there were still people out, but maybe 30% of normal?

It is all dynamic. If the coronavirus cases diminish then cities, companies, schools, etc. might startup and unlock sooner

Person #1 on the street: "Get away from me, I was here first."
Person #2 on the street: "You get away from me, I was here first."
Police officer: "Both of you go home. Now."

I'm in Ohio. A lot is closed down and closing down. I'm still working as is DH. I work in a small private law office and it's not set to work from home, but we will see how things go coming up soon. Kids are home until at least April 14 that we know of now. This may play into a decision I may have to make. All spring sports are cancelled so no flag football for DS9 and baseball will be up in the air. Dance studios and gyms are closed so DD11 who is used to dancing or tumbling everyday has been home (on a good note though she was injured last week so instead of competing all weekend had the weekend to rest up and is healing faster). DH works in a large auto factory. They are still working at this point. I'm praying they will close them as everything else around us is closing.
