Official Wine & Dine 2018

I had the same debate. Registered through a TA for the 10k and then went back and added the 5k. I really liked the 5k theme and heard great things about the course last year. Hopefully they don't change that course. Plus, I didn't want to leave with only one medal and didn't want to take on the challenge during a solo trip.
ETA if you can swing the extra race then why not? Go for it!

Financially I can but maybe I am being a fuddy duddy here, but it's the idea of waking up so early on vacation! But...I really want those medals haha!! I turn 30 in June and one of my "things" was to actually run some races. I am super into fitness but a poor runner! I figure, why not go for it in Disney!

I'm having this internal debate too. I want to do the 5k and 10k but as my first runDisney races, I am worried if it will be too much too fast? Mainly, the whole getting up super early thing haha! But I am afraid to wait and risk them selling out. Decisions, decisions!

This will be my first RunDisney event and I am signing up for both the 5K and 10K today... If I am going there to do this, then I am going to max my time! Will I be tired?? Of course.... but it is Disney... I am ALWAYS tired at Disney. I think I am going to take it easier for the 5K and then push myself more for the 10K.

I bike monitored this exact race two years ago ... they do NOT sweep, but a golf cart/gator will pick you up and take you about .25 miles from the finish so you can finish under your own power.

Cool.

So I really don't understand special treatment for being the last person to finish. I understand that at any pace you have people for whom finishing at that pace is a major accomplishment. Giving the last person to finish special treatment seems to undermine that though as it incentivizes people to go slower.

I think it’s been done at some races as a spontaneous kindness. To help those struggling. To show support. There have been images shared from non Disney races in the last couple of years of the police escort, etc, of people in races at the back.

And as with everything that’s publicized, then there are people who want that, and will try to become the person for whom that happens.

And does Disney even do that for the last finisher? Anything beyond the fact that the volunteers stay there (well, not all) until the last (allowed) person finishes?

Did the HM run through Pandora as well?

Umm I didn't run it but here's a screen shot of them running through it during the wine and dine half last year. In the videos they talk about running through Pandora and you can see the path they take. So I am pretty sure the half did go through Pandora last year.

Also the course map from 2017 shoes the half going through the Pandora too.

Yes, it did! I stopped for a pic there.
I stand corrected :)

You are very right!! Also, the races will be towards the end of my trip so while my feet/legs may be tired, I might not feel as much a need to spend a ton of park time on those days after the races, you know? I'm a frequent visitor I would say, and I could get a lot of my "must sees" in earlier in the week that way that weekend I don't feel pressured. I think you have all swayed me to do it! We can run our tired tushies together hahaha! Look for the tall lanky person huffing, puffing, and generally dragging their heiney and it'll be me!

Time is getting close and I am getting nervous! What if myself and my two family members (husband and daughter) don't all get in?:sad2::worried:o_O:oops:
