*******Official August 2017 Countdown Thread ~ Feeling hot, hot, hot!!!******

Day 3 of 6 for FP offsite!

Today was Magic Kingdom! Had no problems at all!

Booked Seven Dwarves Mine Train, Splash Mountain & Space Mountain for the 3 bigger kids...and Winnie the Pooh, Enchanted Tales with Belle and Peter Pan for me and the hubby and our youngest.

Tomorrow is Epcot!

We have 2 lunches at BOG this year. Can't wait! We haven't eaten there since it opened. We don't usually do ADR, preferring to eat QS and snacks, but this year decided to add in a few ADR to the mix.
We've done all 3 meals before at BOG and lunch is definitely our favourite :goodvibes- great use of a qs credit IMO if you are on the dining plan. I always get the quiche and salad while everyone else in my family gets the braised pork. It's such a beautiful place to eat too. We will definitely pre-order our food for the same reasons as stated by @hsmamainva Getting close now! Come on August :cool1:

Josh/easywdw did a review not too long ago.

Yes - it seemed Josh thought the quality overall was very good and that the value was probably there though he wasn't sure it made sense for everyone and you could probably save money picking your own food and drink. I am someone that likes to graze and sample a lot of different things so I think it makes sense for us. I am not a picky eater at all. We were sort of planning a monorail crawl anyway and this does simplify things in that respect because you get the reserved car and you don't have to check in and wait for a table (or long for the food or drink!) at each location. We still plan to hit Trader Sam's afterwards!

Wow, and I felt a little crazy because I have breakfast AND dinner booked there (in the same day), lol.
I may be a lot crazy but it's DS10's favorite and as a single mom I have to say no so much throughout the year that being able to say YES at Disney makes all the scrimping and saving beyond worth it.

LOL. We have breakfast and lunch (not the same day). We have "free" QS dining, I feel this is a great use of credits - beautiful atmosphere, great place to cool off from the August sun, food is better than most other QS...win win win :)
We have the "free" QS dining too. We had the same last year and I was TOO good at stretching our credits. We had so many left on our last day to swap for snacks. We were far from hungry but the amount of snacks we brought home was ridiculous. Note to self- don't be so stingy this year with dining credits LOLOL

We have breakfast and lunch too (on the same day :goodvibes). We have quick service plan for the first time and I totally agree with the great use of credits here! It only worked to do it on the same day because our other MK day is EMM and we will eat a late breakfast for this ticketed event. We love BOG and are also using these meals to cool off in August!:thumbsup2:woohoo:
We have lunch and dinner on day 1, ppo breakfast and lunch on day 4, and breakfast on day 5. It's such a great use of credits. Since we are on the QS dining plan this trip we will either split a meal at our dinner or grab a light meal somewhere else and just do coffee & dessert at BOG.

Awesome!!! BOG is one of my family's favorite TS restaurants and dinner is our favorite meal there. We've eaten there 5x as a family and DH and I ate there once on an adults only trip, so next month we'll be our 6th/7th time for dinner. We've had lunch and breakfast once each but really, REALLY prefer dinner :goodvibes I just decided a few days ago that I'd like to do breakfast again so I have an alert out; hoping we manage to get one!
Keep looking! I scored all my ARDs on a whim. Seriously thought I had no hope of getting anything but was bored at work so I checked and BAM! BOG jumping at me like crazy

Just placed the order for our BOG lunch!!! It's getting so close now!!!

For those of you who have BOG breakfast or lunch reservations, remember to pre order your meal 30 days before your ADR! A link will appear online within your reservation. It saves you serious time waiting in line to order at the restaurant!! You'll simply check in, be sent inside to pay for your meal, and then find a table. Food arrives within 15 minutes or so.
I JUST put reminders in my Outlook calendar to do our pre-ordering. It really is a huge time saver

I'm really looking forward to the braised pork. Just need to figure out what DS would want since I'm surprising him. I'll probably do the croque monsieur one day and the french dip the other day

I forgot about preordering our BoG breakfast....I've never done it before, super excited to try it! I think I have 2 weeks to go.

So with 2 weeks to go until our 15th Anniversary trip, we had to change our trip by a week! DH and I will now be joining the August group and will be at CSR August 1-8. This has been a never ending changing trip, so hopefully now we are set with our dates and resorts!

I looked at that (anniversary is during trip), but decided on a "progressive" dinner at Disney Springs instead-where we are hoping friends can join us.
I have no idea how many more days-?29 I think til we leave?? then 33 until the rest of party catches up. My truck transmission decided to go out so will likely be keeping plans in check/cancel a few things-most likely will end up cancelling a Tusker house PPO breakfast soon (I think it is for the 11th), debating on cancelling Garden Grill PPO-but I am waiting on that one-if DD is able to join us (and has gone through Traditions) we can use her CM discount there. I'd rather cancel those and keep our R&C dinner reservation (hoping for Illuminations seating/timing).

I will be at CSR Aug 6-9 with my son (&oldest DD first night). My first time at that resort.

So, everyone on another board I belong to (non Disney) is super excited about the eclipse happening on 8/21. I will be in WDW! I've never experienced one before....will there even be anything to see at that location? I think I saw something like 70-80% in central FL (whatever that means lol). I think I read it will happen about 2:30pm(ish) in FL which is our EP day but we will most likely be during our mid-day break back at POR. Should I plan for us to.......do whatever it is you do during an eclipse? :p

i guess I will just make sure we're out by the pool at that time, which is probably what we'd be doing anyway, so we don't miss anythig exciting.

YES! Sometimes if you don't get something right at 180 it's better to wait until a month or so before you travel! On 7/3 I got BOG dinner for a client for 7/5; today I got BOG lunch for a client for 8/21. Not that it always happens and it can be a pain to loo continuously, but it can also often pay off :thumbsup2

I cannot believe the prices for BoG breakfast!! I have the DDP so doesn't really affect me, but seriously....$24 for scrambled egg whites? I hope there's at least a dozen eggs in that meal! o_O
LOL when we ate breakfast there it was before the "price hike", so $19.99. Still not cheap! Definitely an expensive Cronut!

I got 2 of mine at 71 days out, 2 more at 67 days out and our dinner at 51 days out. It was completely painless for me but I also went in with no expectations of actually getting any

Thanks for the heads up on the Eclipse! I just checked my plans for that day and we'll be coming off SDMT at about that time. Or maybe we'll break down in the Mine and miss it all. :tilt:

That's the day we fly into MCO. How cool would it be to see the eclipse from a plane?! :sunny:

Yes, it will get dark(er) for a period of time, like the sun is setting. 70 - 80% means that much of the sun will be blocked, so you will only be getting 20 to 30% of the light you would normally get. It will be like twilight for a while.

We are also in MK that day. We have a 1:00 to 2:00 FP for Tomorrowland Speedway.

I will be there with my best friend. #BowsB4Bros. Staying one night (8/16) at All Start Sports, Then 8/17-8/21 at Wilderness Lodge! We

I will be watching the eclipse from my backyard most likely (not quite in full eclipse path), vs driving to KC to stay at friends for total view.
