Haunted Mansion change alt cue line

I can confirm that the alternate entrance has changed. It is no longer at the exit. I do not work in Liberty Square but was told that there were too many safety related incidents loading guests at the exit. Too many injuries were happening at that location.

Please don't shoot the messenger. I don't know why the stretch room can not be skipped and did not personally make this decision!

I really don't see how or why they told you that :confused3 The only difference now is the GAC must go thru the entire line (which is fine with me), then they enter the holding room (which is not fine since that is where my problem starts) then given the option to skip the stretching room, either way, you end up back outside & get loaded thru the unloading dock :confused3 so where were the accidents & injuries that they are trying to eliminate? Near the gate, or the wall??????? I know you are just the messanger :goodvibes:goodvibes:

the sad thing s they make you go through the main que make you walk in the dark room then through a dimly lit hallway just to come out by exit. when they could just told you when you talked to the first cm to just go through the exit then you would not of had a problem. This whole thing could of been handled much much better by disney they turn something that didn't need to be a problem into a problem. if they just said you could go through the exit and not have to go through the main que then you would of had a better time then having to ask more then one cm and have to wait longer then you had to and then put you in a situation where you could of been hurt.

Then to go to guest relations and have them not understand how stupid those cms where. I hope they make it right and change things because that can't and should not happen again.
thanks... I guess the way they looked @ it was since the main cue is now "wheelchair accessible", all GAC guests will go that route as well too. I know I am not the only one to have complained, I can't be. With all that go there, I am sure there have been others. I am just the first who has mentioned it on this board.

I'm sorry that you where given such a hard time. We took a trip in Nov. We have a GAC with the Alt entrance as well and they took us in the side of HM. The first time they took us directly to the ride so the next day we asked if we could do the stretching room and the CM was happy to take us there. The only problem we have had on that ride was on our last trip and a CM kept telling us to park our stroller in the parking area ( we have stroller as a wheelchair) She even raised her voice as us. Unless they changes something since Nov 16th they do have an ALT entrance and I would like to know why they did not let you use it.

they have only really changed how you get back there now :sad2: you still board via the unloading dock, but you get there by going through the regular cue

As frustrating as problems can be, I don't think anyone is going to solve any issues by calling cms stupid. It seems there is a great deal of confusion at HM since the line changed. I do know that GS is working to grasp the concept that ADA is not always the same as wheelchair accessible. Hopefully we will see improvement soon:thumbsup2

Your right it dose not help to call them stupid it just dose not make sense to me why they made her to through all this trouble when they could of just had her go though the exit.

It sounds like it may not make sense to the CM's either which is why they are looking into making changes.

GS has been made aware of "concerns".:goodvibes

yes, it is frustrating, very frustrating that some simple common sense can't be used. I am very sorry but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out just because a wheelchair can fit in the cue (due to taking turn styles out) that it suddenly means those with low vision can now see :confused3 Where is the logic? how could Disney not have realized all disabilities are not based on what a wheelchair can or cannot do  A little common sense is all it would have taken. Like I side, telling someone with low vision to enter a dark room (unaided) is like telling someone who is wheelchair bound to take the stairs, and yes that would be a bit absurd :sad2:

I totally agree with you. I have experienced issues where I thought a little common sense would have solved the problem, but CM's cannot (or atleast are not supposed to) go against their "training". If they are told to do something and they don't do it and a guest gets hurt....... So you and I know that sending a low vision guest into a dark room is a bad idea, their training(right now) is that the line is "compliant". Training right now does not always take into consideration those not in wheelchairs (those with other needs).

Not that I agree with the CMs, but most likely staffing did not allow for a cm to walk you where you needed to be. (Because once again training has not taken into consideration those not in wheelchairs). GS is hearing these complaints and training is in the works.

The rude cm that we had told us that it is a test that is working well for the cm's. She was a college student and our neighbors work at EPCOT told me that this is the last week for the college program kids and they have been getting a lot of complaints about their attitudes.

I do hope that it has gotten some attention & changes are in the works. I am possibly going to the MK tomorrow, if I do, I plan on going on the HM. I really don't want to deal with "feeling" my way for a door. I am more apt to get hurt that way as opposed to walking outside in the daylight.

I can see how there are complaints, but also to be fair, I do think the good college program students out weight the bad :thumbsup2 Most (me included) come on here & complain about what a CM did, we "hardly" ever compliment. When I complain @ GS, I usually like to also add in a compliment towards another CM. It does help them take you more seriously. '-

Perhaps where some of the confusion came in is that CMs are probably used to people with visual problems having a cane, a dog or someone else with them. Not saying that OP should be excluded because you didn't have any of those things, just that the problem, or rather the severity of the problem, didn't click with them.

They have changed for the worst! Today there was an extra CM who so kindly walked me to the doorway in the holding room, down, the dimly lit hall & out the door, then back inside to where those in wheelchairs that did the stretching room end up so they can be taken to the unloading dock to load. The very nice CM tells the CM at the rope my problem, she looks @ my card & tells me to wait. OK, I wait. About 4 groups get taken back & she has me stay behind. When she returns, she tells me to go to the left. I asked where I was going because it was dark & she was NOT going with me. She tells me that will lead me to the regular loading area, ONLY WHEELCHAIRS now use the "exit" I told her I was not going in there alone. Long story short she ignored me & took at least 2 more stretching room wheelchair guests down. She finally told me if I didn't go, she would get her manager. I smiled & said "You do that" Another CM comes, who is in costume which is really not management, but maybe helping because they were busy. She gives me the speech on how the policy has changed yadda yadda. Then She said being that I skipped the stretching room, it looks like I am really skipping the line :confused3 I looked @ her & told her I WAITED on that outside line like everyone else, I was lucky enough to be escorted thru the dark room & down a dimly lit hall. I watched I don't know how many stretching rooms come out, if that were the case would I still be standing here refusing to walk in the dark alone? I could have been off the ride already had I done what she wanted me to do! Then she went on to say that they are finding some abuse the GAC system. I told her I agreeded & then asked why are only those "without" a wheelchair questioned. I told her they were cheaper to rent than a stroller, they will hold 2 Larger children plus bags & get you GAC access no questions asked, yet any true impairment, not requiring a wheelchair will be questioned! Her response was, "unfortunatly yes" HM is going to be this way & more than likely I will have to have someone who is above the standard CM approve me (and anyone else who needs alt entrance) as per CM Dani....acting manager at the time.

She did walk me down to the unloading dock & get me on. While we were walking I was telling her about my vision, and something must have clicked with her. She understood it:rotfl: She said there were a few CM's that she knew who have it...

I did stop @ GS on my way out again just to vent & spoke to "Charlotte".....She felt since my GAC has alt entrance on it, it should be honored @ HM She said alt is for whatever your reason may be, not just wheelchair. She took both CM's names down & said she will see that those @ the HM understand a disability doesn't only mean wheelchair. I just wonder how long it will take to train them. The nasty CM was Nicole.

i was hoping that today would been better not worse I still don't understand why they are making it harder then it has to be. It will take less then a min to walk you back through the exit instead they argue with you and hold you up. It not about training because it safe to walk through the exit because guest walk out of their when they exit. It about cm who don't understand anything. i hope those cm get suspended or at least put in a role that dose not put them near guest. I wonder why it such a problem at hm and no where else you don't have any problems at other rides. i mean the cms don't give you a hard time i understand things change but it not like they moved the exit ten miles away just let you go to the right and down the exit path. what else i don't understand is what you would gain by scamming them to skipping the stretching room and que with the gas not saying you are. all you want is to ride the ride safely it not like you want them to turn the lights on stop the whole ride seat you then turn the lights off and start it up all you need it to walk down the exit and load that way. Next time wait for the manager the cm was proberly a lead cm who dressed so they can work all over the park. I think we should boy cot hm until mickey fan can go to the ride and ride it with out having to go through all this trouble.

I'm sorry but I fail to see how this would be helpful. Once again attacking this problem emotionally is not going to result in a workable solution.

As far as managers in CM's clothes, this is common practice. I personally have seen managers dressed in "costume" in several locations.

I will say (an I am glad Mickeyfan went to GS) that it is not acceptable for a CM to comment on guests "abusing" the GAC.

1. it was a joke i don't expect anyone to boy cot hm
2. it not against any cm it against disney
3. mickeyfan went there twice and was nice both times and still had trouble so sometimes it takes a little emotionally attacking against a cm to get them to understand a simple thing.
4. mickey fan has been doing the right thing and still has to deal with these cms and have to take time out of her day to go to guest relations i don't think that fair.

sorry if i offended anyone but i don't think it fair that mickey been giving such a hard time to ride hm. When it should be a simple thing to fix that it wouldn't take any extra cms or coast disney any more money then just let her go through the exit where it lit better.

Since it seems you have not read what I have written on this thread, I will not continue to reply to you.

Mickeyfan I am sending you a pm.

HM is the only place that gives me a problem. In fact today I witnessed the 2 CM's at the entrance of the HM line giving a Mom a hard time about her DD's "medical" stroller! They were telling her she could not bring her DD in with it. The mom kept telling them that she uses that as her wheelchair. I could not tell if she had a tag on it from GS, but you could tell by looking at it, it was not a regular stroller. They finally allowed her to go down by the herest & enter where they were having all the wheelchairs join the line. This shows that I am not the only one. Yet every single wheelchair & scooter party, regardless of size were waved on with smiles & no questions. :confused3 I don't mean to sound bitter & I do know the ADA protects the rights of those with a disability. But that is just it, it only protects the rights of those with a disability, not a temp injury, a cold, fatigue... I'm not very happy with the HM right now as you can tell. There are no safety reason's for not having me load via the exit, if that were the case why are the wheelchair guests & their party allowed

Mickeyfan please contact the 2 names I sent you. This should not be happening to anyone. I do not have low vision but am hard of hearing as well as mobility challenged and I have a difficult time in low light areas because I can't see CMs lips so don't always hear what is being said to me. I would be very upset if a CM hassled me because of it.
