Are you an alcohol snob?

Not a snob. I will always be willing to try. But if I know I don’t like something (I’m looking at you IPA), I will go without. However, I will make a huge scene.

😜

Just kidding. I would roll my eyes :rolleyes2, can’t control the face just like my meme said. I’m absolutely over the multiple IPA’s being the only craft beers on tap.

Here’s the meme in case you don’t go on that thread,

There's a great movie with Alan Rickman and Chris Pine about a California wine that won a French award. Bottle Shock.

a great movie about a napa valley winery located in calistoga, filmed in sonoma (i was born and raised there, the filmmakers did an excellent job of depicting the region in the early 70's before the tourist industry exploded and as the song goes- they paved paradise and put up a parking lot:()

I hate going to a Pint Night for a brewery I know has great non-IPA's but the only featured beers are IPA's. Last time I went to one for a local brewery I really like and they had 3 beers for Pint Night vs the usual 2. All 3 were IPA's. UGH! Luckily one was a Hazy and those aren't as gross.

I tried a hazy not long ago in those same hopes … still too hoppy for me. 😕

Not a snob at all. I have preferences for beer and some types of hard liquor, but I can certainly be happy with whatever options are available.
The only thing I won't do is drink white wine or any sweet wine because I just don't care for it. But I will drink any type of red from cheap and cheerful to pricey. I wouldn't consider that snobby though, that's just a beverage preference.

I’m an alcohol snob in that I refuse to drink cheap, common beers like Miller or Bud. I can’t imagine going on vacation & being upset that I couldn’t get a cheap beer like Miller.

DH & I both prefer to try a local or special-brew beer on draft.

I also will very, very rarely drink beer out of a can - it has to be a some kind of special beer for me to drink it out of a can. If not on draft, I’m more of a bottle kinda girl.

Cans are superior to bottles. I know a place that doesn't do bottles but does have cans. They don't pasteurize and the beers need to be refrigerated.

I have always had a preference for bottles over cans as well but it is getting harder and harder to find beer in bottles. More & more craft breweries are canning almost exclusively. On the tour at Sierra Nevada the tour guide said that it doesn't matter what container the beer is packaged in, you should always pour it in a glass to drink it.

I didn't think so, at first. But after thinking about it, I used to be very attached to certain vodkas. If they didn't have one of my preferred brands, I felt like I was drinking bottom shelf schlock. You know what really upsets me, and it's been this way for years? When they have Pepsi instead of Coke :crazy2: That really makes me cranky, lol

I won't drink cheap American beers like Budweiser and Miller Lite but in terms of hard liquor, not really. I like Añejo and Reposado tequila more than blanco, but I will still buy/drink blanco tequila.
I don't drink cheap American beers either, but I buy my gin and vodka from Costco (Kirkland brand).

Kirkland London Dry gin comes in a square bottle too!

It's always been more about marketing than anything else. The whole "glass is class" thing, but for the most part cans are superior because they seal better and they keep out light. Obviously draft beers come in big cans (kegs) that are well sealed and keep out light.

The whole wine industry led consumers to believe that cork is classier, even though there's a risk of cork taint and/or poor sealing. Plastic stoppers and screw tops are actually superior in terms of protecting the wine. And today there are canned and boxed wines that are really good.

I actually think it's a blessing when bars and restaurants don't have cheap stuff like Bud Lite or Miller Lite lol If that's all that is available, then guess I'm not having a drink there.

I like many types of beer but I do not get the IPA craze. I can drink it but it's at the bottom of the list.

Not a snob per se, but I do have to be careful to make sure that things don't have any artificial sweeteners in them(this pertains mostly to premixed, canned/bottled stuff) other than that I have some preferences, but nothing I would necessarily have a huge issue with if they weren't available

Nah, I like the cheap stuff. I don’t drink beer now, but I learned to tolerate it in college. PBR or Miller Lite tasted good to me. “Better” stuff like St.Pauli Girl or Molson was putrid.

I like relatively inexpensive wines. I’ve graduated from Boone’s Farm or 4 liter boxed wines, but I see no need to spend more than say $15 for a 750ml bottle.

For hard liquor, standard brands are fine. No need for imported vodkas or Chivas Regal whiskey.

I learned not to drink cheap rum... I'll always request Barcardi (though I'm open to other rum - just not cheap, bottom shelf stuff). Other than that, I'm open to trying most anything.
