Airmiles Armchair Chatter

@bababear_50 - YES all of those offers will stack with one little caveat. Check to see if you've already used the offer with the red shopping bag because it will stay visible on your account until the final day of the offer even if you have USED it. Since those offers are all new and I doubt you've been shopping yet, if you spend the $150 (offer #2) you will earn all of the miles - 325 for you.

My offer #1 is to spend $140 get 140 since that's where we always shop and rarely under $200, so we'll pull in 415. WOOT!
Well I did try :tilt:
But my son wanted to do FreshCo so all my Airmiles plans are out the window because he's paying,,, I did pick up a few Scene+ points though.
I should be able to at least do the targeted one next week.
Off to look at the Metro flyer.

The Climate Incentive Action payment is the federal rebate for the Carbon Tax. The Ontario Trillium benefit I'm not sure, because I always get the message, you don't qualify. ;)

Thanks Hon I appreciate it.
I did a bit of research and found the answers here.

I booked Disney (yacht club, crazy right?) for the two nights pre cruise. We can always cancel or switch to Universal if I change my mind, but it was a decent deal at 35% off. I will decide on tickets or party soon I guess. Kiddo wants to eat at Cape May again, he enjoyed the Mac and cheese and shrimp. So we have December to look forward to. Only 6 months to go! And haven't even been back a month yet lol.

I am going to sit down and really think about my food budget tonight.
I am finding myself flipping back and forth with Airmiles & Scene+ too much.
Which one is a better financial deal for me and the future Universal/Disney trips.
Also my son is now making 80% of the food purchases. He's like RCSS but yeah that's not happening.
We do collect a fair amount of Be Well Points via 2 cards at Rexall.

Time to make some choices.

I shop at Metro 90% of the time, but really on sales and still do a bit at Walmart for a few things. I think FreshCo would be cheaper but not as convenient. For sure I enjoy the airmiles, and am now saving up for at least one ticket in December. Or flights :) we'll see on that. But yeah, choosing one or the other I think is key to making the most of whatever you choose. Does RCCS not have PC Points? A third option ;)

I did try the PC points for a year but didn't find myself very successful at it.
I am kind of looking for hotel accommodations down south at least 7 to 14 days a year.
One thing I like about Expedia compared to Red Tag is the extra fees can be paid for via Scene+ points ,,where with Red Tag the extra fees have to be paid separately.
I do have two FreshCo stores within a short 5 to 10 minute drive. Metro is a 5 minute walk.
Two of my Swiss Chalet restaurants just closed down ,,yeah Mel's favorite for family no cook dinner.
Apparently a brand new one is opening at my nearby mini mall that is 5 min walk away.

I'm a bit in the same boat. One plus for Air Miles is the Personal Shopper. I buy all of our hard ticketed events with Air Miles. With Scene+, we can't just pick what we want to buy the same way...

But it's now a lot easier for me to get Scene+ points than Air Miles. And at Freshco I can price match.

Good Morning ElCray
Yeah I am thinking each system has it's pros and cons depending how you want to utilize the it when cashing in.
My sister keeps trying to get me to price match,,,,,, I just hate holding up the line....LOL

Groceries these days, I look at 3 flyers and shop almost exclusively at those stores. I shop the specials for Sunday (family) dinner and pick up multiples of items that I use regularly when they are on sale. If I happen to get bonus miles/points that's a bonus. Gone are my shopping tactics of the pre-Covid AM hunting days. Although I did use 3 differents cards on 3 threshold spends instead of spending $150 at Metro. I just didn't need that much from their store this week. I miss the game and the strategic shopping to maximize miles/points. Oh well.

I'm slowly going through my stash of Dream miles. I just booked a trip out west to go to my uncles 90th birthday. I might not have done that without the "free" Airmiles I used to get there. I have a few trips left with Airmiles and my stash will be gone and I will just travel on funds put aside specifically for "holidays".

The reward programs have been fun but they are losing their "sparkle" for me as the grocery/in-store options are few and I don't online shop a lot. That said I'm hanging in there hoping something will change but I think the "good old days" are gone.

Totally agree. I’m shopping what’s on sale for sure, instead of targeting points. We’re doing a WDW trip in August, likely our last in a while due to costs. I had 5 day non expiring tickets saved from years ago, enough AM for flights and water park tickets. Did the PC points “swap” for Disney GC and almost have enough to pay for our hotel. Don’t see that those times of being able to rack AM up so easily will ever return!

Will probably be switching over to cash miles and using them for Starbucks GC for my university bound kid :)
