Disney News, Discussion & an Element of Fun - 2023 Edition

Waiting for the return of Happily Ever After at the train station now, on my birthday, no less!!

Did want to report in that Festival of Fantasy at noon today was very, very pared down. The first two floats were missing (BaTB/Cinderella and PATF and Frozen). The parade was led by Belle, Tiana, and Cinderella in the “gazebo” float. Other missing completely floats were Pinocchio, Fantasia, and Dumbo. The dancers between the floats were often just 2-3 people. Very different from my last viewing in Jan!

Are you sure it wasn't a Cavalcade you were watching?

Just been updating the Major Refurbs and Projects thread to remove Play pavilion as it is safe to say that project has been cancelled. But wondering if we've had any updates on Wondrous China replacing Reflections of China? Do you think its been cancelled too?

There haven’t been any formal announcements on that in a while from Disney that I can recall. Last was that it was delayed until sometime this year.

I’d agree that the Play Pavilion has probably been scrapped, hopefully they can come back to that Pavilion and provide a crowd eating attraction in the future for that space.

Disney clarifies TRON Lightcycle Run virtual queue policy for late arrivals

On the webpage for TRON, the wording now states, "Late arrivals may not be accommodated."

During the soft opening period, some guests were frustrated by securing a boarding group from home or their hotel but could not get into the park quickly enough to reach TRON inside their arrival window. Disney has been offering a late arrival grace period of around one hour, but guests arriving outside of that time have usually been denied entry.

Key word is MAY, so we will have to see how the next few days play out.

With Mary Poppins officially scrapped, I'd have to think Play pavilion is somewhat related. For Epcot, I think they need an attraction for little kids that can move the bodies through at quick rate....or just abandon that market for Epcot, and market more towards adult and teen guests.
My son is 14 now. When he was younger I would have given just about anything for something like animal kingdoms boneyard, or Dumbo in an epcot pavilion that is air conditioned and has adult beverages, and maybe some live music. Let the kids run around, parents have a cocktail, one eye on entertainment, one eye on the kidlets and keester on a bench.

Honestly an unwritten grace period of 60-120 mins is all that is needed this way it gives locals who pull a low return time a cushion if they get stuck on I4 (has happened many times to us with GoTG) as well as cushion for those enjoying an ADR or in a lengthy queue for another attraction

Honestly with what was planned for play the ending of the whole meta verse thing was the final nail of the coffin…. At this point find a way to make a direct path to cosmic rewind and make it a GoTG (or other marvel ip we can get east of the Mississippi) meet or make an off the rack ride (tea cup/alien saucers style spinner) themed to wall-e

The boilerplate language they provided kind of blanket covers most of that level of leniency.

If you’re at an ADR or you can provide proof that you were dining at the time your BG was called either by showing your reservation or even a receipt. Traffic delays associated with Disney related transportation may also be granted leniency with a discussion at GS or with a CM.

Waiting in an attraction line may also be granted leniency within reason, especially if it’s a ride with a lengthy wait time, or if it breaks down and the BG is missed.

Traffic on outside roads heading into the park, may not be granted the same leniency but who knows and that will be something to discuss with GS or a CM.

Same time, you may also be turned away from boarding.

And I’m sure, as with most customer service interactions, the guest’s level of politeness will pay a part. Show up angry and yelling, you might get nothing. Show up friendly and calm, better chance they’ll want to work with you

I think the no late return policy for Tron is to discourage people from pulling an early time and just waiting until it gets dark to ride with all the purty lights.

Problem is you can't pick times. They need a better set up, probably one being you need to be in the park. There has to be a better way.
