We're planning to use PYB for our dining on our WDW trip next month & I'm curious if anyone has experience on how places like the Main Street Confectionary & the Caramel Shop in Germany code for Chase? Retail? Dining? We're staying at the BCV, so I'm also curious about the BC Marketplace since it's a hybrid store/ restaurant. We usually order in person because of allergies, does the restaurant side of the marketplace allow you to pay for regular merchandise? I'm just wondering if we can use PYB for some souvenirs & save our DGC stash for our trip next summer.

I assume mobile ordering & stand alone restaurants all code as dining?

If you are unsure of anywhere I'd use your magic band since that makes it a room charge and codes as travel.

I was going to say I thought you couldn’t PYB dining anymore, but I just looked it up and found out that you can for the CSR, but not my CSP. I’m kind of annoyed that the PYB varies so much by card type. Last month, the Chase front page was advertising Pay Yourself Back for Warehouse stores and I couldn’t figure out why I wasn’t seeing it on my UR page for the CSP. That PYB only applied at 1.1% on the Freedom cards.

I wish they’d all be the same, especially since the AirBNB is so limited for the CSP.

Seeking help from the SW CP masters. I got the SW Premier Business card in October. My SUB meter on the Chase app says I need to spend my $3k by 1/4/22, which obviously leaves me little room for error as far as meeting the spend and getting the bonus points to post in 2022. My last statement closed on November 21, and my payment is due December 19. I'm assuming that means my current statement will close December 21. So am I right that I am ok to meet the spend anytime between December 21 and January 4 (and I'd probably meet it soon after December 21, because I just plan to prepay my electric bill to meet the spend, so I have total control over the timing).

I messed up my CP timing before, so I'm trying to be ultra-cautious this time!

Hyatt rep just told DH that he couldn't use his points or a free night certificate to book me a hotel (in London if it matters). They told him he physically has to check in. This does not sound right to me. Anyone know?

For future use, I always call: 1 (800) 544-9288 when using my Hyatt points or FNCs to book for my friends and family and have never once been denied. As a backup plan, you can always have your name added to any reservation your husband makes and then just have him call slightly beforehand to notify the hotel you will be the one checking in first. I've had to do that for Marriott FNC reservations for friends, but never Hyatt.

Reaching out for some last minute help for hotel suggestions for Paris for 2 nights Dec 20-22. We had an AirB&B booked for 5 of us, and we were driving from Germany but DD and DSIL can’t go since new baby won’t have passport, so it will be DS flying into Charles de Gaulle from Orlando, and I”ll be taking the train from Germany into Paris Gar de l’Est. I have UR points as well as Capital One miles. Main purpose of the trip is DLP for 1 day (21st). Would love any tips too! Been to Paris once but it was 11 years ago!

While I've never stayed at the Hilton Paris Opera, I have read consistently good things about it. Dd and I have stayed at the Park Hyatt Place Vendome twice (the good old days when the Chase Hyatt card gave 2 free nights with MSR) and Foquets Barrier (a really, really nice hotel). On 1 stay we took the train from Paris to DLP and it was very easy. However if I were to go again I might consider staying at an on-site hotel to really pack a lot into a day at the park. Have a GREAT time!

How many days will you be in Paris? It is a very walkable / transit-friendly city.

Update on my Chase Aeroplan Visa. Called recon this morning and they confirmed that I entered an incorrect SSN . The CSR said that their system was able to link it to me (which explains the Experian credit pull). She transferred me to the fraud department for identity verification and I'm on hold (wait time said 30 mins). Hopefully I get approved. I am regretting not applying for the Capital X -- does anyone know when the current offer expires? I won't be under 5/24 until the end of January.

I haven't seen any talk here about Hertz letting you gift Five Star or President's Circle to anyone for the first half of 2022. So if anyone that got a Venture X and the PC status that goes with it is feeling generous ... It would be appreciated.
https://pub.emails.hertz.com/GiftStatus2021

I just got the Venture X. I haven't been able to figure out how to get Hertz President's Circle despite poking around the CapOne website. Any tips?

Just got instant approval for the C1 Venture X, it should be here in 3 business days, hopefully in time for our trip to HI. I've had a Quicksilver for ages with only one annual charge for a magazine subscription on it. I've also had a checking ($0 bal) and savings ($0 bal) with them for over 10 years. I was sitting at 2/24 when I applied so that might have helped.

In other news, I've received over 325K MRs (incl the SUB) since opening my NLL Biz Plat, so I'm psyched about that.

With Southwest opening it's summer 2022 dates next week, I need to figure out how we should plan to book these once they are open. If anyone has specific thoughts/comments about our situation and my tentative plan, I would greatly appreciate hearing them!

Our situation:
- 5 passengers (2 adults, 3 kids [none young enough to be a lap infant])
- Flying from PHL to MCO in mid-July. Since there are few nonstop flights each day, they seem to fill up quickly.
- Looks like tickets will likely be ~23,000 RR points roundtrip per passenger
- I have ~88,000 RR and ~67,000 UR
- P2 has ~100,000 UR and just a few RR at the moment
- We are hoping to get a SW CP for P2 (he was approved for a SW personal card in Nov and applied for a SW biz card a week or so ago, just submitted additional documentation yesterday, hoping for an approval soon). If he does get the CP, it won't be until January at the very earliest (probably not till Feb or March).

What I'm thinking we should do:
- Book three tickets using my RR for me and two of the kids (Wanna Get Away fares)
- Transfer 46,000 of P2's UR into P2's RR account, use P2's RR to book tickets for DH and the third kid (would Wanna Get Away fares be OK if I might cancel one of these if P2 gets his CP?)
- If P2 gets the CP, add third kid (booked on P2's RR) as the companion and cancel this ticket once the companion pass is in place (likely Feb/March). I'm thinking I might need to call customer service to do this since it's possible/likely the flight will already be full at this point?
- Pay for all the fees with one of our Sapphire Preferred cards for the travel protection.

Any concerns about this plan?

PS - I realize I've been asking a lot of questions, and whole-heartedly appreciate all the answers and advice I've been given. I'm very new to using CC points (and travel in general, honestly), so the advice on this board has really been invaluable. Thank you for the time everyone has taken to contribute to this board!

I just spotted a 10% cash back up to $30 on my SWA offers! It might be worth buying a GC for future use. They must know we are PO'd at them and oh, they added a non stop out of MHT! Perhaps they read this thread LOL??

Your plan sounds good especially if you are thinking that a popular route might be sold out by the time you get the CP. Waiting to add my companion on a Thanksgiving Sunday MCO return had me stressed several years ago as the flight sold out and I was stalking everyday until a seat opened up. Only concern I have with the plan is that I don't think SW flies PHL-ORD nonstop. PHL-MDW has several though.

I would book one way for each. Seems more complicated but allows you to cancel and rebook easier if part goes down in RR. Plus allows easy cancellation once CP is obtained. You can book any groups together easier, say 2 people one way on your account, the rest onP2 etc etc.
Also if P2 can book, they can book one flight, you can book the other at the same time.
Oh and I'd check MDW for sure. Usually cheaper, definitely less stressful airport to deal with.

Thanks, I'm glad to hear this sounds right! Regarding the lack of nonstop flights, I somehow got the airport code wrong (not sure what I was thinking here). We're traveling to Orlando (MCO) in July. I edited my previous post for clarity. Chicago is definitely on my list of places I'd like to go with the CP, though, so I'm glad to hear there are direct flights between PHL and MDW!

you are correct, finish spend after your statement closes on 12/21 but before 1/4. You'll get the points 1/22 - day after your 1/21 statement closes.

I'm sure situations vary, but we were in Germany 3 years ago and drove into France with no problem. No one asked to see passports, it was just like driving into another state over here. We just went for the day though, I know sometimes when you spend the night you have to show passports to check in. I'm sure someone with more experience will be able to help, but baby might not need one.

Good point about the one-way, I will make sure to do that. P2 won't be able to help with the initial booking (he's a teacher and will likely already be on his way or at work when the flights drop), but could help with the canceling/rescheduling with CP if needed. I'm not sure what you mean by booking any groups together? Do you just mean just booking tickets based on who has more RRs? I mentioned this with a previous reply, but I had gotten the airport code wrong, we're going to Orlando (edited to be correct in my original post).

I noticed that P2's support link for SW cards now shows 20K RR per approval through 6/30/22. It was previously set to expire on 1/4/22. I was glad to see this and it was part of my reason for applying for the Venture X today. Now I can wait until Feb to apply for a SW card, since my CP doesn't expire until end of Feb. I think I can get him his CP to kick in by mid-March, just in time for spring break.
Hopefully I get approved. I am regretting not applying for the Capital X -- does anyone know when the current offer expires? I won't be under 5/24 until the end of January.
Hope you get approved! I think I read someone's comment in a blog that the current Venture X offer expires mid January (15??) based on a mailer they received. FWIW

The afternoon/ evening of the 20th through the 22nd. My DS arrives at 2pm. We could choose an airport hotel for the convenience since he’ll be jetlagged, or find a place closer to DLP. The last time we stayed there was in the Latin Quarter, about a 5 minute walk to Notre Dame. We could spend the 22nd exploring Paris, then take a later train back to the Ramstein Air base area. My DD lives off post in a little village on the 3rd and 4th floors above a Biergarten. My DD is the Disney planner and I just show up. Roles have truly been reversed! DD was in DLP in July when they were finally able to travel from Germany. They were in COVID lockdown since they arrived last November. But they did lots of European Summer travel during her 2nd trimester. I arrived into Germany November 1st anticipating an early delivery and the baby came 11 days late! He’s already made it to 3 Christmas markets and we’re heading to Cologne tomorrow if he’s up to it!
