*HHI Owners and Beach Lovers Group Thread*

Congratulations and :welcome: Welcome Home!:welcome:
Thank you!
We are also also planning on spending some Thanksgiving days in the future at HHI.
We went this past August for the first time and the whole family loved it, including our 19 y/o DD and 25 y/o DS. We would all meet for dinner at the restaurants by the marina and my DS even became friends with one of the bartenders at one of the restaurants. Loved that old feeling of real family vacations, without running around and planning the same day for the most part.

The planning has started for our Thanksgiving week trip.

Back in the day, by about now we would have received the plans for Thanksgiving food offerings from the resort.

Usually Turkey/Ham and trimmings and pies.

You would sign up and get it delivered.

I was just thinking how much I'm missing that option this year as I get older and just want to relax with minimal cooking and prep.

Does anyone have any information on any special Thanksgiving dinners that can be picked up or delivered to the resort this year?

What I would really love is to have a chef come to the villa and do most of it for me!

Wishful thinking?
We haven't missed Thanksgiving at HHI in over 15 years. Our first one was from Piggly Wiggly (remember that place?)
We also fondly remember the days of resort-cooked meals, where the CMs would cook outside and the whole resort smelled wonderful!
A week or two before Thanksgiving, there's usually a long list of places in the newspaper. Some places have been Kenny B's, Alexanders, Fresh Market, Kroger's, Signe's (but I only know of her dinner for 2-bot a whole turkey). Possibly SERG take-out near Old Oyster Factory will be added this year. Or call the front desk at the resort for suggestions.

Someone on this thread asked about Thanksgiving meals. Today I received an Email from the SERG group, which operates Dockside, Frankie Bones, One Hot Mamas, Black Marlin, Poseidon, and I don't remember where else. inviting people to either come and dine at one of their restaurants or do Take out, Catering, etc . for Thanksgiving. If anyone wants the info, let me know and I'll forward it.

Wondering if anyone has rented bikes at the resort lately.
Are they in good condition?
Some years it seemed like they were brand new and other years we should have rented them from an outside company.
TIA

Rented on 9/25 on resort.
Our 2 bikes looked like new and were great!
It was around 25 dollars each for the 1 day with DVC discount I think?

Booked a 2 bedroom on 11/6 and Mother's Day off the DHHIR website.
Just a reminder to look at DHHIR website for a cash reservation if DVC is sold out on points and cash.:smickey:
(Grand villas are not listed on DHHIR website though.)

Thank you!

Just be careful-Thanksgiving at HHI can easily become addictive. We first went "just this once" in 2006. After that we did an add-on so we could get the 11 month window to go every other year (every OTHER year? What were we thinking?) Not surprisingly, a few years later, we bought so we could go every year, and sure enough, we haven't missed one yet.

I can totally understand that !
We all loved it, and now with all the new stuff going on at DW, we may go a couple of times a year if we decide to take a break from DW and the parks. Plus save money.

The bikes are largely in good shape--some of them quite new, others less so. The primary benefit of renting from the resort is that if you have an issue, the bike people are right there--they'll even come pick you up if something happens off the resort.

Great time of year to visit, but from the week before Thanksgiving through New Year's, the island is hopping!

I am going to add a section in post 1 for upcoming trips in 2021 and 2022.
If you want to be added, just PM me your dates!

Does anyone know the current fee to enter Sea Pines? Per day or per week.
Bike or car. And if they are interchangeable?

Additionally, the resort is refurbishing a couple of rooms with new decor and furniture, though the actual total refurbishment isn't scheduled until next year. These are test/model rooms to fine tune the final product, so to speak.

Love the pictures! Thank you for keeping us updated!
We look forward to our 2 night stay this weekend!

Few updates for our page:
1. 2022 Annual dues will be 10.07 per point according to the 2021 condo meeting info! (2021 was 9.97)
2. Interesting discussion about the early retirement of B'Lou and Shadow on the HHI Lovers Thread...

Has anyone been to Daufaskie Island, through a tour or taking the ferry and exploring on your own?
Looking at a 4.5 hour tour with Outside Hilton Head that leaves from Shelter Cove.
TIA

The 4.5 hour is the one we took, and it was excellent!
We even saw Dolphins on the way over!
