Same here, my email was in late Nov. You don't know ahead of time about the AF because everything on the application says it will be $595. You just have to be ok with it being charged, and then happy if it turns out in your favor. Most dps I've seen on the $0 AF have been from people with the late Nov NLL email.

Can anyone give me primer on how Marriott status works? I had 46 nights but we just got home from a 2-night stay (one FNC/one on points). Will those count for 2 more nights? If I am at 48 nights now, can we just book 2 nights somewhere cheap before year end to reach 50 nights and can I book through UR's or does it need to be through Marriott website? Then I'd have platinum elite for 2021?

Your recent stay will count toward your elite nights so you will be at 48. Technically, if you book through the Chase portal or other OTA you're not supposed to get elite night credit for those nights but YMMV. To be safe I'd book directly with Marriott. Then your platinum status will last until end of Feb 2022.

Can someone clarify. I know on the hyatt card they are changing the spend $15k get a fnc to calendar year. But the only info I find says for those that open in 2020 or those that open in 2021. I upgraded to the new card fall 2019 so I'm trying to figure out if I could start now or if I have to wait until Jan. Looking to put house expenses on it.

If you were able to add the new card to your account, you can download the cardmember agreement under account services. So you don't need to be in suspense longer.

I got an email offer too. What was yours? I think the one I received was 100k for 15k MSR. How do you know if the AF will be waived?

Same one. You don't but it seems like for some reason the agreement with this specific offer says no annual fee the first year.

This is the same for us! My dd's have beautiful handwriting that doesn't even look real so after teaching them penmanship and seeing the results, I thought I was quite the teacher (since I homeschool). Then I had my oldest ds. My 12yo ds's handwriting is so awful. And he just doesn't care at all. My 9yo ds actually has better handwriting than my 12yo and he admires his handwriting so there is hope for him but I've decided the 12yo will just not be someone who will ever have good handwriting and there is little I can do about it

Right there with you. DD has beautiful handwriting. DS who is 15 writes like a 5 year old because he's so lazy.

I’ve been reluctant to even explore it just because we already have quite a bit of points that we could use towards airlines through Chase UR, and I was worried by going with Southwest we would be putting all of our eggs into one basket, making our flight options more limited. The whole Southwest companion process also seemed daunting. I’m already taking on a lot right now working from home and assisting with virtual learning. Anyway, my question is, If we were to get a SW CP, would we be able to use that with our Chase UR? In other words, use the rewards to buy a Southwest flight and get a free ticket with the CP for a travel companion? Of course, that’s provided Southwest is even available through Chase UR.

Thank you! Are the rotating categories the same for the CFF as they are for the Chase Freedom? If so, it would make more sense for me to get the CFU as DH already has the CF.

Yes same rotating categories....if you usually max them out on your DHs CF...it could still make sense to get the CFF

You can transfer URs to SW RR points 1-1....this is what I have done the few times we needed a more RR points to book a trip..then just add the companion.
i have never booked a SW flight with URs...It doesn’t show as an option on the travel portal, but I seem to remember previously people saying they called in to do it...not sure if that is still an option.

If you cancel the Chase booking you'll get travel credit which has to be used within 12 months.

Once you earn the SW points they never expire, but when you have the companion pass you will probably end up traveling more and using all your points.
Earning the CP isn't that much work, you just need to get a SW personal card and also a business card.

For us, the SW CP has been awesome! It’s nice only having to “pay” for two tickets instead of 3 and has allowed our points to go much further. Especially since we have taken a lot of SW flights.

To use Chase UR, the best way is to transfer them directly to your SW RR account. So if a flight is 5500 RR, you would transfer for UR to SW and book the ticket. The point transfer is pretty instantaneous and is super easy. If you have several flights planned during the period you would have CP, it is definitely worth it. Our local airport is SW hub so that helped with our decision.

SW is not on the UR portal. You would need to call Chase travel and have them book the flights using URs. Similar to if you were booking a cruise.
