It is not boring at all.

I do think you have to like history a bit and since I am such a history lover I find myself pausing it and the googling the actual event to read more about it. I'm learning things about the monarchy that I didn't know before and I find it very interesting.

No, it's not boring. It's not a dry documentary of the Royal Family or just full of historical stuff. They really humanized the Queen & family. Think of it as the way the movie, Titanic, brought the events of the Titanic to life by following what happened with Jack & Rose. It was not just a bunch of historical facts.
