Your best bet would be to just request "refurbished room please".

It would be best to call and add the above request to your reservation. Then skip the room request section during Online Check In.

Dansdad: are you then saying that an agent reservation request and me adding the section request with Online check-in will cancel each other out? I am looking now in the boards the best way to get a room request. Many do those fax requests I believe by touring plans??? We have a standard room so we are lucky there. as I believe most renovated rooms are standard.. Agent added request in our reservation.

My
Frequent Pop stayer here with a new situation... hoping someone has had this situation before and can offer guidance.

I just got word that I need to do a webcam interview; both available dates are when I'm in WDW (of course!). I picked a time that works for me to come back to the room, so it should be quiet(ish.). My concern is the internet connection. We use it, but it's always recreationally so I've never "put it through its paces" so to speak. Is it decent for a Skype/FaceTime type setup? Late afternoon (so hopefully less network traffic) if it makes a difference.

If not, suggestions for where else to go? I can potentially borrow a car if there's someplace offsite - but I figure the quiet of my room is the best bet if it will work.

Any experiences would be appreciated! TIA.

My experience is that room location determines how good your connection is.. In your case I would do a front desk check in and state your concerns... Maybe they are knowledgable and can get you a room close to a repeater or whatever they use to spread the connections around the resort. Maybe they can offer you a quiet spot / office etc... never hurts to ask and you never know if a CM goes out of their way to accomodate you.

Not necessarily. However, if you really want a refurbished room then it's best to make that your only request. And I know that is not an option during Online Check In. And if you do request a section during Online Check In and that section is not completed by the time you arrive, the room assigner won't know which you would prefer, a refurbished room or that section.

Calling and adding a request is best as it is tied to your reservation. The room assigners will see your request along with all the other important details when they are assigning rooms. Like length of stay, room type, etc. Faxed requests might get separated from the reservation as it is not entered into the details of your reservation. A CM has to gather all the faxes and physically attach them to the subsequent reservations. It works often, but there's a chance they don't stay together.

what phone number would be called to add a request to the reservation before checking in and how far ahead of checking in would you do this?

The Main Reservations line. This can be done anytime from the day you book up until 4-5 days before you arrive. When within that time frame makes no difference.

Good idea! I'm with a block of like 5 rooms so I wouldn't want to move - but I can always chat with them about the situation and see if they have any suggestions.

Just to clarify...you'd think I'd know this!! But, I always have requests attached to my res, but when I do the online check in I repeat same request. And if staying at POR fax too. As far as I know, that's the only resort that actually looks at faxes.

So far we have on res request new room, upper floor. Because I really don't want ground floor. I'm watching this thread to see if 70's will be ready by our trip in late Nov. if it is I'd really prefer a lake view in 70's. Would it be bad to put 70's in the online check in form IF they are open? Or just add it to my res request and not put any request in the online check in. I doubt new room will be one of the options lol!

Personally, I would wait to see if the 70's are done by the time you go. If so, I would call and have them change your room requests to "70's lake view upper floor". Then you KNOW you'll get a refurbished room with the possibility of it being a 70's lakeview on an upper floor. You can hold out until 4-5 days out to do this.

I know that Pop looks at FAXes too because last year I had a conflict between my online check-in and what I requested via FAX using Touring Plans. I received a call at home from a Pop representative confirming my requests so that they could put me in the room type of my choice. Great service!

I know AoA looks at faxes. I used the TP fax service there and got the room right next door to the one I requested both times. And my online requests complimented my fax, but weren't as specific. For example, last year my fax was requesting room 5520 and we were assigned 5518 but my online choices were simply 1st floor and close to transportation.[/QUOTE]

Is there a way/website to find out if there will be a group (sports or otherwise) at the resort? I'm specifically looking for end of January 2018.
