Disney Gift Card Deals

I've had luck (so far) with BB online when I also order a tack-on item like a micro-USB cable. Which cuts into my profits, but if I can make it back with portal rebates, I'm ok with it.

This is why I asked @JKalai about flipping video games from BB -> GS. Then, you can add on a used game and take it to GS to flip for more than you bought it, losing no money. BUT, I use GS for my boys for Christmas/birthdays.

I've been a little behind in keeping up with this thread. I just want to make sure that I'm current on all of the changes. Could someone confirm or clarify the following for me?
  • BB- can no longer buy a GC with a BB GC? Regional or new company policy?
  • Target - 5% off with REDCard payment still working both online and in-store. Can no longer pay for any GCs (physical nor electronic) with a Target GC online. Still works in the stores.
  • GS - dead. No GC purchases with a GC
  • Walgreen's - regional? Can still purchase a GC with a GC?
  • Fuel Perks - Can still get fuel perks with GC purchases
  • Sam's - Is it still possible to use Walmart GCs to buy Disney GCs there?
  • eBay - PPDG is not being as wonky as in the past? There's a new limit on GCs - is that on the amount of ebay GCs you can spend or on the amount of GCs you can purchase?
Thanks for any assistance.

1) Regional/local YMMV
2) Correct
3) not 100% sure, but I think correct
4) More people have been successful than unsuccessful
5) Yes, thankfully!!!
6) Don't know
7) Will let others answer - I'm not confident in my knowledge

Regional/YMMV still. I've seen a fair number of other posters still having success. I merely live in a crappy area for BB purchases.

Target - 5% off with REDCard payment still working both online and in-store. Can no longer pay for any GCs (physical nor electronic) with a Target GC online. Still works in the stores.

Correct.

GS - dead. No GC purchases with a GC
Also correct.

Walgreen's - regional? Can still purchase a GC with a GC?
Yes - YMMV/regional. Also, some people have reported some cards received from SVM (or whoever the ebay retailer is) have not always been read properly by the magnetic card reader. The cards have a balance, but the machine/system has rejected them.

Fuel Perks - Can still get fuel perks with GC purchases
Not my area of expertise - will defer to others.

Sam's - Is it still possible to use Walmart GCs to buy Disney GCs there?

Not sure if PPDG has gotten better or the algorithm to adapt to our purchasing styles is working appropriately. Smaller purchases have been working well for most everyone and some users have reported success with larger purchases.

The limit is on the number of ebay GCs you use to purchase other things on ebay. Theoretically, you could continue to earn ebay bucks on additional purchases (up to the ebay bucks limit) by paying via an alternate monetary source like a PayPal account.

ETA: The one wrinkle to PPDG is that they've run out of Best Buy eGCs, which, to nobody's recollection, has ever happened before. It feels a bit like when the Target well dried up on ebay.

i'm still able to flip at Kmart. Amazon sells physical Kmart gift cards. I've cashed in Swagbucks ---> Amazon ---> Kmart ---> Disney.

This is so disappointing to see. I have maybe $100 in target gc lasting around but I go to target a lot so they will get used up quickly. I have been buying discounted gas gc on eBay during eBay bucks deals and the using my eBay bucks to buy Disney through privates sellers. I am not getting a huge return but it's something. I don't like the risk with Walgreens and BB.

I was actually coming here to ask a q about the Disney GC's at Sam's. DH and I saw them in our store this weekend. We were considering buying the $500 one for $475 for our December trip. However, can you use a GC for hotel bills instead of our credit card? Our hotel package will be paid in full before leaving, obviously. But we usually like to charge purchases and such to the room, and if we can use the Disney GC and save even a little bit of money that would be great.

Your store had the $500 ones?

Sadly it seems that some loops are closing, but I think there are still ways to save. They won't be as profitable as fast and it is going to be hard to run a lot of money through with the eBay limits.

I done very well just getting the discounted gift cards when eBay offers them and repeating it.

Sam's - Is it still possible to use Walmart GCs to buy Disney GCs there?
Yes. I have had no issues buying Disney GCs at Sam's with Walmart GCs, both in-store and online.

Like Target, Sam's only allows you to pay with a max of 4 Walmart GCs online. In-store, however, I've used 25+ GCs in a single transaction without issue.

I just wanted to post a pix of the Disney Figment Limited Edition t-shirt I just bought but that is too off topic. So here is how I earned 2500 Southwest Rapid Rewards bonus. +1000 SWRR+ $100
What I earned in addition to SWRR pts in parenthesis.
8/9 $600 Ebay/Walgreens (+$36).
8/12 $240 Ebay/$250 Walmart gc through private seller. ($15)
8/12 $200 Ebay/Best Buy/ PPDGs ($4)only buy PPDGS on this old acct but it never get bucks offers.
8/12 $223 Best Buy Netflix gc + Best Buy gc. Didn't get SWRR pts for BB gc.
8/13 $69 Ebay/Stop&Shop gc ($2)
8/14 $184 Ebay/Exxon gcs ($19)
8/15 $465 Ebay/$458 Target gc through private seller Ebucks 6% ($27)
8/15 $76 Ebay/$80 Exxon gc w/ ebucks ($9)
I loved doing this. It's like gambling but with little chance of losing principal.

Question for @JKalai - The last trade-in deal you posted was for GS -> BB. Does it ever work out to buy from BB and sell to GS? Or does BB usually give the most for trade-ins?

Yeah,

You'll get a higher profit margin if you have the gamers club unlocked on your account. It's $30 for 2 years and gets you an additional 20% off any new game. It stacks with the "deal of the day" promotions they run and any sale except on black friday.

If you occasionally buy video games for yourself or your children, you will save A LOT with it.

There's a 50% extra trade in credit coming up this weekend for used video games. There might be some chances to flip games from GS to BB with profit and get a BB GC.

We have the POwer Up rewards already, which has been a good deal, and based on your report, it seems that the Gamer's Club will be a good "investment " too. Do you get advance notice of the promotions through e-mails or on forums?

ETA: If it weren't for GC churn, I would rarely set foot in BB. And now I'm considering buying a gamer membership and some games - I think this is an example of a "win" for the store BECAUSE of churning. I wonder how much business Target will lose by eliminating GC>GC churn. I always added items on that I wouldn't have bought from Target otherwise...

I signed up for the Best Buy newsletter, so I get the daily morning "Deal of the Day" emails. If's it's a video game, I normally just check the trade in value at Gamestop to see if the trade in value is worth a flip or not.

Gamers Club Unlocked at BB is much, much better than Power Up Pro at GS.

If you pre-order games for yourself or your children, they also always give out extra $10 rewards for pre-ordering and picking up select games which stacks on top of the 20% off you get.

Brand new game: $59.99
-20% off = $47.99
+$10 certificate
$37.99 for a game you'd pay $59.99 for anywhere else (as long as you pre-order).

And now that the ebucks promo is over, the Best Buy gift cards are magically back in stock!!!!
Yes, but only a quantity of about 100 of each denomination. Looks like they have been adding 100 or so, once or twice per day for the past 3 days. Not sure of the reasons, but if anyone wants some, I would act quickly, or keep checking back throughout the day.

So I'm looking at my options to turn Swagbucks into gift cards for Disney - Target seems to be out, and hopefully I can unload the $50 I have before they stop taking them in store. If I buy the $25 Visa Virtual Rewards card from Swagbucks, is it possible to use that on a site like Target.com to buy a gift card since it acts like a debit card, or is that not possible since I'd need to use more than one?

The Kmart option seems to be a good one as well - and perhaps this belongs on the Swagbucks thread, but I thought I'd see if anyone knew.

I do this for my son. Bought the card about a year and a half ago and pre-ordered a bunch of his games for Christmas and Birthday to get the $10 certificates and 20%. It is well worth it for that. Used those $10 rewards towards Disney gift cards before I even started churning much.

I'm not sure about the visa cards, but I am just going to switch to redeeming for Walmart gift cards so I can use them at Sams Club, since their Disney cards are discounted as well.

Cash out for PayPal. It costs the same number of SB for $25 PayPal as it does for a $25 Target GC (after the first GC of the month). Transfer the PP funds to your checking account. Use your REDCard to get the 5% discount on Disney GC purchase (either in store or online). Pay the bill with the PP money.

If I had a Sams membership that would work, but we don't buy enough that the membership is really worth it for us (plus Sams is super inconvenient to where we live). The discounted cards aren't as big of a deal to me - I don't have a redcard either so I never got that additional discount - but it is nice to be able to use the Swagbucks to help pay for our trips and not have as much of a hit on the bank account :P I think our first line is going to be to try out Kmart since we have one close to us and see how that works.
