DIS Exclusive Exclusive February BSM 2/17-2/22/14 Almost SOLD OUT!

I was able to eventually get on last nite using a twitter account but the room was empty.

Maybe next week!

I wonder in our coming and going if we will drive by the LaBrea tar pits and if Kevin can do magic and have Margaret Kerry be at the Disney Studio Commissary for lunch with us......always can wish

I wonder in our coming and going if we will drive by the LaBrea tar pits...

The only way we were able to see the Tar Pits in downtown, was to go there on our own time before the adventure.

Hi all,

It looks like I won't be able to join in on chat on Thursday nights! I'm still at work when chat starts, and am in transit for the rest of it. My company has blocked chat sites, so I can't even sneak on while still at work. I hope that I'm not missing out on much...

Hiya guys and gals,
I'm new to the boards so forgive me for taking so long to find this thread. I'm Lee and my DH Stewart and I will be joining you wonderful folks on the Backstage Magic ABD in a few weeks.
I'm still finding my way around the boards but have been an avid listener and now viewer of the podcast since 2011. I discovered the podcast when I was researching our first trip to the U.S in late 2012. We are from New Zealand and both had dreamed of visiting Disneyland since childhood. Our DD and DS's birthdays are only 2 weeks apart so we came up with a plan to have one at Disneyland and one at WDW and I don't think we would have had half as great a time if it weren't for all we learnt from the podcast.
We're super excited about our upcoming adventure and can't wait to meet everyone :yay:

Glad I am not the only newby at this stuff.....was nice chatting Thursday night. Wish Kevin would show up for question time but I guess its for the group to get to know one another. I did ask about dressing up for dinner and its not needed until the closing night and that is only long pants and button shirt type of dress up. Knowing that will help with packing. He also said the day we eat on our own and Disney pays we get vouchers that we don't have to spend all at once. Nice little trick/ I know I live in Fla but I am getting cabin fever here with the cold and really need a vacation. Hope to see you Thursday night (our time lol)

It was my intention to be in chat this week, but I spent part of the day at the vet with the new puppy.

Seems she came with a bug that decided to show up and cause quite the mess....literally and figuratively.

A couple of doses of medicine and she is fine. The rugs......not so much. ;)

I plan to be in chat Thursday night, but if your have any questions....please don't hesitate to let me know.

This tread is awful quiet for folks that should be excited to be going in just a few weeks. Perhaps you're all busy packing?

Agreed. Chat is quiet as well. I finally got on last Thursday. It was very cool to meet the few who were on.

Maybe a simple question will start some conversation: What is the one part of the BSM tour that interests you the most?

For me, it's the tour of Imagineering. My first trip to Disneyland was when I was six, and I was hooked. I grew up with a fantasy of becoming an Imagineer. I didn't make that happen for myself, so this is the next best thing?

Sigh. This makes me wish I was on this tour rather than having to wait until the December one. :moped:

I'd say Imagineering was very, very hard to beat. Saw some really amazing things there when we did the July 2012 BSM tour.

Since I'm not sure just how much has been said about the day-to-day tour plans and what the "surprises" are, I will only say that the best moment for me was actually inside DL.

Oh, and I really enjoyed the time we spent at Walt's Barn.

Agreed. I've heard that chat has been quiet, too. I finally got on last Thursday and I'm glad that I met the few people who were on.

For me, it's getting to tour Imagineering. My first trip to Disneyland was when I was six. I was hooked. What excited me most was the use of all the elements...ride mechanisms, animatronics, music/sound, lighting, special effects, and architecture to entertain, thrill, and tell stories. I had wanted to be an Imagineer, but I wasn't able to make that happen for myself. So I guess this is the next best thing?

Anything that is backstage or normally off limits - Henson and Imagineering are top of the list. Anything related directly to Walt at DLR. We're also going to the Disney Family Museum the weekend before to get into the history of Disney mindset. I'm sure the VIP Fastpasses will be fun, but I could not ride a single attraction and probably still be satisfied with this trip.

Val & I did the WDFM a few weeks ago and it was really quite an experience for the Disney lover. We spent nearly 4 hours there because we spent the time to read/watch just about everything. The only thing we didn't do is the special exhibit on the art of Bambi or any of the movies that may be showing when you go. Caution; be sure to have tissues handy when you get to the final room in the WDFM.

The WDFM is on my list of things to do, but not on this trip. But it sounds great. Thanks for sharing. I'm also interested in that area where it is. I can't remember the name, but the way they've adapted that historical area looks very interesting.

Hi folks,

I am extremely excited about this trip. It's quite surreal that I'm actually going, especially after hearing so much about it the last couple of years through the podcast. I was going back & forth on whether to book (just ask Kevin, LOL!) but since I will be celebrating my 45th Bday while on this trip, I figured I would take the plunge! You only turn 45 once, right?!?!?

Hmmm, the things I'm most excited about. Walt Disney Studios is on top of my list. To walk the grounds of the studio that Snow White built, to walk the halls of the animation building that Walt walked, to eat in the commissary where he ate... unbelievable! Walt Disney Imagineering & the Walt Disney Archives are a close second.

My best friend Melpi, who will accompany me on this trip, has never been to Disneyland, so it will be fun to see her reactions to the differences between WDW & DL.

Also, I'm from NYC and it has been FREEZING here, so it will be nice to enjoy some nicer temperatures for a week.

Thanks

Kevin
