Here's a tip for anyone who hasn't booked their excursion: click add to my favorites before your date and on that date it will be easier to book it. Saves a lot of time. The only thing you can't do is Palo but you can do spa.

Can I come for a visit... It is ugly here in the South...

Thanks Sandi, I am looking forward to meeting everyone too! I'm probably not funny in real life, probably rather dull! :rotfl:
I think we have a great group here, but you never know it only takes one grumpy person (non Dis of course!) to create a scene. I really hope not, Life's too short to worry about such little things! ;)
My DH has been away for a few days, It's been nothing but DCL planning here! Enjoy your lists!
Good night, Sweet dreams. :cloud9:

I an deal with the pick pocket threat, and be prepared for them, But......I just can't seem to prepare myself for the thought of no Mickey Bars! :scared1:

Oh, I'm feeling the love today, Thanks
I cannot explain to you all how happy I am that I found you all, It makes the planning, anticipation and excitement so much more fun. :grouphug:
Plus, I'd be totally lost without all the fab advice! :confused3

The people I have met on the DIS boards on my cruises have been the nicest people you could ever meet. I think we are very lucky to have this place to plan and share our lives togethr.

Just my thoughts...

I feel like I have found extended family... We all suffer from the same DISorders... We all crave to see DISney... So, family or support group - take your pick!!

I am trying to plan a work trip to Toronto. I will be going end of June or after the 4th of July holiday. I will be there about 2.5 - 3 days. My days are booked with work, but wondering about weather, and if there are any must do;s that can be done in the evenings. I don't think that the Loblaw folks will care if I don't sit in the hotel... Ofcourse, I can just DIS all night...

TIA!

Weather wise, think Florida in May. We can be very humid here.

Hopefully you are coming after the July 4th holiday. We are hosting a G20 summit June 24-27 and it will be crazy here. My store is closed 24-27th as the U of Toronto campus is closed as well, they have placed the "official" protest site right next door to the main campus. Several areas of the city will require access passes to enter.

Evening activities, not really my kind of knowledge, I live out in the suburbs. If you are looking for shopping, The Eaton Centre has lots of shops and is right downtown. There are harbour tours, we have a Hippo boat tour company. Some great restaurants, check this site out http://www.seetorontonow.com. I have eaten at and liked, Bymark, Far Niente

For downtown activities, this is a great site to look at.

Your PM hasn't made it through yet.

Here's what I have on there now:

Krisann, Ashley (DH), & 2 Dkids

Are you just wanting me to put Ashlyn and Aaron's names in place of DKids?

Sorry wrong thing - it was for the FE spreadsheet - sorry.

I am laughing though about all the undie talk earlier. You girls made my morning. I have never been scanned or stopped so I guess I should continue buying from the same store.

Okay, silly question because I read someone's post about going to Deck 9 and partying while doing laundry. We never stay in the laundry room while we do wash - do you guys? Somebody made it sound like that was wrong but I just thought it would be a waste of time. I doubt your stuff would get stolen, the only thing I wash are undies and that would just be wrong! Do you guys actually sit and wait - please tell me the protocol.

In answer to your first question about staying in the laundry - yes and no - if the room is backed up like it was when I was doing laundry one day I left at the beginning (delivering FE's) but I cam back after 15 minutes to be in line for a dryer - basically how it worked that day- and I guess whoever is in there can make up the rules because we decided as a group (those of us in there) that if you stayed you were considered in line for a dryer - you left - you were not - so some people would stay the entire time their clothes were washing to be "in line" for a dryer (and still have to wait another 15-20 minutes). This was because it was very busy that day (and I do not normally do laundry during busy times but I actually started at 7 am that morning and thought I was doing it early - I did not have to wait that long for my dryer though- but I was in there till 10 am - I did 2 loads - some couples tag teamed being in line and we all talked and boy did we all get a laugh out of one lady - I would love to do a book on laundry room stories - because I know there are other ones!

Now - on the other hand when I did laundry in the middle of the night (2 am) I did not stay in there - there were empty washers and dryers - even with me using 4 of them so I saw no reason to stay.

Now one thing I would say - if you have issues of people taking your clothes out of a dryer (when they are done - not before the timer is up) come back 15 minutes or so before they are to be done - so many people leave their clothes for HOURS in the washers/dryers and then get upset if someone takes them out and folds them :confused3

I Krisann, I usually stay ironing in the laundry room while my clothes are washing and drying. This trip I just may just send everything out!!!

Just my thoughts....
:surfweb:

Oh i do not iron - at all - not even at home - my cleaning lady does all my ironing - I send many clothes out during the cruise to be washed - and I even washed clothes this time and then sent them out to be pressed only.

I have to say the day the laundry room had people in it was kinda fun - got to know some people - I became the "director" that morning while I was there - keeping straight who was next in line for what - and letting people know who came looking to do laundry how long. I am not sure what I will do on this one (but will organize the middle of the night laundry night if everyone wants me to!) I do send things out a lot except for undies, socks and bras.

There is a sticky that gives info but the post is from 2005 so not sure how current the prices are:

http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=10054885&postcount=4

Anybody have more current info?

I don't mind ironing a few things if I have time but this cruise seems to be especially busy with activities.

Here is the info I supplied to the EBTA from my October cruise - I will double check the prices with my laundry ticket from the EBTA:

ONBOARD LAUNDRY, DRY CLEANING, PRESSING & SELF LAUNDRY: DCL offers several options when it comes to laundry.

Guest self-laundry facilities are available on the ship (I believe on decks 2, 6 & 7). Cost was $2 for a load of laundry (washer or dryer). Some guests have mentioned having to use the dryer for 2 cycles (room charge, use your KTTW card). Laundry detergent and fabric softener are available for purchase within the guest laundry (room charge, use your KTTW card).

Dry Cleaning (via your stateroom host(ess): Approximate pricing as follows: Ties $2, 2-pc Suits $7, 3-pc Suits $9, Shirts $3.50, Coats $7, Clouses / Sweaters $4, Pants $4.25, Jackets / Skirts $4.50, Evening Dress $8 (PRESSING ONLY is about half of the posted price)

Laundry (via your stateroom host(ess): Approximate pricing as follows: Socks $1, Undershorts / Undershorts / Bras $1.25, Shorts / Short Pants / Sport Shirts / Polo Shirts $2.50, Shirts / Slips / Nightgowns $3, Blouses / Pants / Skirts $3.50, PJ's $4.

DD and I are going on the Baltic cruise next week - thankfully for us, that is easy to do. Anyway we can`t book for Palo`s when we should for the WBTA as we will be on the cruise! I won`t be lining up to use the internet that`s for sure.
Well done to all for making this thread so friendly and welcoming - it is appreciated :goodvibes.

enjoy your cruise!

No correction needed. :goodvibes

Jon

oh that is funny then - I did not get it the first time around - :)

Noel - you are so sweet. I just told him what you said, and in my typical DH fashion, he said, "anything under 80 is not gorgeous." He has always been a hot weather guy - not even warm - but hot!! I am laughing!!

Well since he likes HOT he could take a business trip to where my husband is - it is supposed to be 113 degrees there today!

Krisann

OK....things that I am concerned about right now about this cruise....

Seriously, the only concern is the pick-pocketing. We fly into Barcelona and then Disney transportation to the port.....Do the Disney reps meet you like they do in the Orlando airport?

Thanks all....see you all soon....OK...in about 15 weeks....

Tom & Marilou

Tom & Marilou,

I haven't used the DCL transfers for pick-up - I have used them for drop-off but I ALWAYS see them at the end of the baggage claim with a Disney Paddle. As DisneySweetie said, they will be there and visible. Also, I have used Disney transfers on an Adventures by Disney to Peru. First time in that country and I was frightened. Had never been below the equator for longer than 1 day. Never been there and not knowing anyone (and I speak Spanish) was daunting but even before I exited the baggage claim, there was someone waiting for us in the middle of the night with our name on a Mickey paddle. I felt like I was being enveloped by an old friend. So no worries. Your in good hands.

I cannot explain to you all how happy I am that I found you all, It makes the planning, anticipation and excitement so much more fun. :grouphug:
Plus, I'd be totally lost without all the fab advice! :confused3

You have just put into perfect words the feeling we all get when we come "home" to the DIS. We are all like-minded people waiting for the opportunity to help. Glad you feel the

I feel like I have found extended family... We all suffer from the same DISorders... We all crave to see DISney... So, family or support group - take your pick!!

Nicely put!!!:hippie:

My dd suggested the Eaton Centre as well. She is really still a tourist too. She lives south of Toronto and rarely gets into town. We were thinking of the CN tower (eating there perhaps), a
baseball game, the ROM, and just wandering about. At the end of the month the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) is getting the Terracotta Warriors exhibit.

My mom wants us to go see Casa Loma as she remembers it fondly from a trip 50 to 60 years ago to visit relatives who lived on Toronto's island. Not sure if it is still

Still thinking about getting down to Niagara Falls one day too.

The G20 is going to be a logistical nightmare. I just hope we can leave YYZ without a hitch. I am afraid that they will be closing airspace from time to time on Friday to allow the bigwigs to land.

Does anyone know if there was a Mickey Mouse Club night on the EBTA? We had one on the last PC crossing and the cast members were so shocked that so many of us came prepared. A lot of us had made our own MMC shirts and brought our mouse ears. Just wondering if I should consider making some shirts again.

You can send him my way for the weekend.. it should be aorund 110:scared1:

I just finished cleaning the pool around 9pm to get some of the heat off.
And tomorrow... working on my cruise tan.:cool2:

What is the Mickey Mouse Club, I mean I know what it is, but what is it on the cruise? :confused3

Just a quick question - has anyone been to Tortola? If so, has anyoe done this excursion:

Tortola by Land and Sea (CRUISE & SIGHTSEE)
(TT-03)

The Virgin Islands are made up of over 60 isles and cays. Cruise past the islands by motor launch and tour the length of Tortola by tour bus, while also enjoying some shopping time at a picturesque marina.

Board open-air tour buses or A/C Coach for a short transfer to the marina where your launch awaits to take you on a scenic cruise among the beautiful islands of this unique archipelago. View the southern shoreline of Tortola and the surrounding islands of Salt, Peter and Norman, made famous in legend as hideaways for pirates and buccaneers. Your journey takes you past uninhabited islands and the island of St. John, preserved for posterity by Laurence Rockefeller as a nature reserve, before arriving at Sopher's Hole, the first landing place by European settlers in these islands.

Enjoy a stroll along the board-walk and enjoy some time to browse in the colorful boutiques and souvenir shops before boarding open-air safari buses to continue your journey on land. Drive along the north shore of Tortola through small fishing villages before ascending to the ridge road, which twists its way along the top of the island offering spectacular views of Tortola and the surrounding islands. Snap a photo during a scenic stop before descending to Road Town, the capital of the British Virgin Islands, and onto the cruise ship pier to conclude your tour.

Duration: 4-4.5 hours

I'm a bit concerned as DH gets everything sick and can't decide between this one or another one. Geez, I'm telling you, this girls' only excursion is sounding better and better.....anyone else game?

We did that excursion last September, though it was the other way round as it happened. I think 2 groups must have set off at once, one going by boat and one by bus, changing in the middle of the trip. Anyway it was a really good trip and you got to see just about all the island. It is very hilly and beautiful with great viewing spots. We all enjoyed the boat trip. It wasn't rough for us at all. All the tour guides etc were great and friendly and they made a wonderful fruit punch, either alcoholic on non alcoholic.

We had friends who went to Virgin Gorda and really enjoyed that. I believe there is a bit of steep walking to the baths so anyone with walking problems who is thinking about that needs to read up a little.

I thought some people actually brought their personal trainers on the cruise. When they got fed up with the trainer telling them to workout more, the trainer got stuffed into the dryer for a cycle or two. :rotfl:

Jon

:lmao: So, what do we do with any sneakers we might find onboard???

This is a major thing in this goup... Has anyone warned them that they will need to bring a big stash of these on for us? :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I think we should ask if they have them onboard at embarkation, and if not all lie down and have a terrible two's paddy on the floor until they get them!!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

They changed how you book excursions? Uh oh, guess I better familiarize myself with the new website before my booking date comes up.

Oh, I had better go have a look too before Saturday morning.

The people I have met on the DIS boards on my cruises have been the nicest people you could ever meet. I think we are very lucky to have this place to plan and share our lives togethr.

Just my thoughts...
:surfweb:

This is so true Noel.:thumbsup2

Thats what we were looking at. Who did you go through? I was getting panicky thinking should we pay £130 and get ash insurance!

I think we booked with Ignite Insurance ... haven't had the confirmation email through yet though, so who knows if I did it correctly. I am not bothering with the ash insurance ... I figure if it stops us flying out we will just pay for the train, and if it stops us flying back ... well thats just a bonus :thumbsup2

Nice jeans will be just fine.

Oh, I only travel in less than perfect knickers, and they aren't that bad I can assure you:rotfl:. I decided if I had an accident then the state of my undies will be my least concern!!!:lmao: Other than that, at my age my packed ones can be a bit embarrassing even if new!!!! To be honest I would be more embarrassed if they consisted of thongs nowadays.:rotfl2:

There certainly won't be any thongs in my luggage ..... I tried a pair once and they were far from comfortable .... the phrase " cheese wire " springs to mind.

So true!

You are so funny! I'm sure the people see all kinds of things in suitcases and my knickers (or yours) are really not that interesting to them, I'm just silly. I must admit I do wear thongs, my husband calls them 'eyepatches', does that make them suitable for Pirates night? :lmao:

eyepatches .... now thats funny :rotfl:

You CRACK me up (in a good way)

Lynne .... you are too funny :rotfl:

What???? Now I want to know what you deleted!!!

So do I ??????

Ok, Hard Rock Cafe. Anywhere else? McD's if desperate I guess.

I imagine there is a Starbucks somewhere aswell, and they tend to have decent loos.

:rotfl::lmao: I am at that same age, Marilyn. Makes no difference old or new with granny panties! :rotfl2:

There is nothing wrong with a good pair of "bridgets"

I go and leave my laundry, but will be back before it finishes. I would hate to be in a cabin accross or next door in case there is much loud chat and noise.

On our PC cruise someone in the next cabin told me someone had trainers drying one night. Bang, bang, bang...........!!!!!:sad2:

We backed onto the laundry on our last cruise and you could hear the machines beeping through the walls.

Just popping in to say hello - I`ve been away, taking my elderly Dad to visit relatives. I`m not even going to try to catch up.
Everything is very very stressful here. DD gets her uni results next week and needs at least a 2:2 to continue with her career choice.
Our local school and DD`s old school had a terrible tradegy last week - a bus crash killing two and badly injuring nine others. Today not far from here there have been random shootings - twelve killed and 25 injured. Even though we have not been directly affected (not that we know of) everything is too close to home.

Sending :hug::hug: how horrible for you to you be close to all of this tragedy, it is bad enough seeing it all on the news. Our thoughts go out to all of those poor people and their families.

I just finalized my Fish Extender gifts. I will give two goodie bags per cabin in my group (one early on in the cruise and one on Pirate Night, but that is entirely my choice). Both goodie bags will be a mix of stuff that I made and things I bought. I have found in the past that the most time consuming part was labeling the gift so that people know who it is from. This time I am lazy. I had cards printed with my real name, DISBoards name and my email address which I will add to the gift. That way people know who it is from and if they want to keep in touch after the cruise, they have my email address as well.

Corinna

Now that is a great idea.:thumbsup2

I thought some people actually brought their personal trainers on the cruise. When they got fed up with the trainer telling them to workout more, the trainer got stuffed into the dryer for a cycle or two. :rotfl:

Thanks for the info, I am a bit worried about the roughness of the seas but hoping to dope up.....um......medicate ;) DH so that he can handle any waves. Good to know.

There are a couple of changes in your group - I will post a new list tomorrow - just wanted you all to know!!

Thank you!:cool1:

Ann:flower3:

wow that's hot! It's supposed to be pretty warm here fort eh next few days...but it won't get near that!!;)

I'm off for a day or so now, as I'm taking dd back to her Uni house in Bristol. She starts her summer job tomorrow and I'm crossing everything I have that she's ok living on her own again. Most of her housemates will be away on a field trip so I am very anxious about her being alone, though she seems much better. I'm staying overnight anyway, and will probably 'pop' back a couple of times over the next few weeks (it's a 200 mile round trip...:confused3)

Have fun and don't work too hard!:thumbsup2 :littleangel:

Sounds like a plan! Bella (my DD) can head up the "wobbly lessons", even though she's 8 she can still chuck a great tantrum!:thumbsup2
Do we need another list? :lmao::lmao::lmao:

There is a time and a place for "Bridgets", for sure! :thumbsup2
Here's hoping no one backs onto the laundry this time!
Dis Family Rocks!:goodvibes

AND For any of my Dis friends, I ordered the Passporters DCL 2010 book today, It is meant to ship by the end of the month. Anyhoo, I got a code for 30% off AFTER ordering my book. So if anyone would like the code just PM me, DOn't know whether I should post it, Might be breaking some rules?

I hope all goes well for Becky for her summer Mandy. She obviously wants to go, but having you at the end of the phone, and making the odd trip will help immensely. I'm sure she will have a few trips back home too. So pleased she is continuing to do well.
