Fall/Fall Advantage 2008

i feel as though DisBoards is kinda like a family! i am so excited to meet all of you! i really can not wait! we need to make dates for all of us to meet!!! like dates for each of us to meet! almost like a youtube gathering! it will be a disboards gathering!!! LOL.... i kinda fear the day that i leave my life and move to disney and leave my friends! And the best part.....i only live like an hour away....and i fear that! i think that it is only natural! but i just wanted to say that i can not wait to meet you all! and i feel like we are, in some way, a Disney family! :) Because we all help each other out! Any questions that are asked.....somebody always anwers it! I am just excited! yet sad at the same time! To wrap this up.....i can not wait to meet all of you! :)

I think it is a great idea to get together and meet each other. Hopefully some of you FA and summer people will be there when the fall people get there.

And it is not uncommon to have meets with other people from the dis. I think right now they are getting ready for a cruise meet where everyone is going on the same cruise and hanging out!

i interviewed today!! i think it went pretty well. I gave them a list of choices--attractions, vacation planner, main entrance operations, character attendant and hospitality--so hopefully they won't read that "maybe" to that quick service answer. :)

so on average how long does it take to hear anything? i faxed my application in today and i'm mailing it tomorrow. i'm nervous, but i guess the hardest part is over now, right?

I waited 5 weeks for mine.

I agree woth Tyler!!! everyone here has been so helpful and eveyrbody is like a family!! We should all be at least somewhat comfortable when we get down there!!!

so i called the office on wednesday and they said they mailed out my letter that day!! i was hoping the guy i talked to would give me a hint as to whether or not ive been accepted, but he didn't so the waiting continues. i should get it soon though. im really excited and nervous!! congrats to everyone who got in :)

Oh Tyler, you're great. You should be working onstage!

Anyway! I met my BEST wdwcp friends from a DisBoards Meet-N-Greet that we had the night of check-in. I still talk to them just about everyday now... if not everyday, at least once a week.

When it gets closer to arrival dates, I am sure people will be setting up M-N-Gs... at least, I will!!!!

Hey Everyone - A HUGE HUGE HUGE congrats to everyone going down (up or over) to Florida!!!! That is so amazing! I can't wait to hear about my own acceptance so that I can finally join you all in your celebration and preparation!

Good news!! I got my acceptance letter for attractions yesterday!!:cool1:

Bad news... I was accepted for Fall and I wanted Fall Advantage.:confused3 I called and they told me to email my recruiter, and she might be able to change it but there isn't any guarantee. I can't accept it until I hear back from her. So I'm playing the waiting again but this time its just when I will go.

But either way I got in!!!!!!!! :woohoo:

That's great!

Does Disney assign the shoes we wear for work as part of our uniforms as well? Just curious. I know I will have a lot of standing to do while there and I'm curious to know what sort of footwear I'll have to wear.

Disney will set specific specifications (a lot of areas require black, polishable and sometimes slip-resistant) shoes, but they will not provide them as part of your costumes. You have a certain amount of liberty to select choose shoes within your area's guidelines from numerous area merchants.

I wouldn't buy shoes ahead of time, just incase your area has different requirements.

Thanks for the tip! I am hoping crocs are acceptable but I'm not counting on it! They are just so comfortable for standing for long periods! Anyways, another question for someone whose done the program b4. In my dorm room, I use these handy things to prop my bed up like 6 inches off the ground so I can store stuff underneath. Is this possible/necessary with the beds provided at Vista/Chatham/Patterson?

I believe Crocs will not cut it for shoes.

And yes, it most likely will be necessary. The beds are quite low.

what about the work crocs? i love crocs too.
Work Crocs

There are very, very few areas where crocs are acceptable. Most (but not all) areas have the following requirements in terms of work shoes:

Shoes are to be a black slip-on dress shoes. OR Shoes are to be black, polishable lace-ups with low heel, slip resistant soles, and no visible logos or stitching.
