So, if and when DVC Contemporary is announced do you think there will be mass hysteria to buy there, or am I giving the appeal of being right beside the Magic Kingdom too much credit?

We happen to have owned at both BWV and SSR (and subsequently sold each) but would love to own there (and actually keep it) if it ever comes to fruition. :hourglass

I would imagine there will be mass hysteria. :faint: :chat: :hyper2: :jumping1:

But I won't be one.

But here is some Pixiedust for the rest of you wishing for it!pixiedust:

I believe one of the largest draws of the Contemporary other than design would be the access to the monorail. You would have direct access to both the Magic Kingdom and Epcot.

I think it will be unlike anything DVC has experienced with a new resort. I can't imagine DVC having to offer incentives such as developer points to sell out CRV. There may even be a waitlist to get the UY you want before it is available. I cant wait!!!!

The thread, "How many CRV points will you buy" and the reaction to it is proof that there is a lot of interest. Almost a million dollars in potential purchases have been expressed even though we all know that the people on this list will probably get a call from their CM's when the announcement is made. :rotfl:

I'm sure there will be excitement, but there isn't likely to be a shortage of points. BCV, which is quite a bit smaller than the proposed design of the new Contemporary structure, took over a year to sell out.

Financially, Saratoga Springs will have generated revenues well in excess of a BILLION dollars for DVC by the time sales wrap-up.

I agree. While there certainly will be lots of buzz, excitement, and some initial rush to purchase...there won't be UY waitlists, etc.

Oh, and as AKV showed us, waiting a few months ended up netting people a better price.

Those who bought back in February paid $93 per point. Those buying now can pay $104 per point and get 2 years' worth of Developer's Points. Most of us would value a single year's worth of points in the $10-12 neighborhood. Getting those two years' worth of DPs is a bonus worth $20-24.

Keep that in the back of your mind when DVC makes its next big announcement. :)

Some will really like a CRV, and others won't care too much about it.

Personally I don't see the appeal, but that's just me. :smokin:

Yes, but if you can't use those points they are worth $0. :smokin:

you can WALK to the MK - it is the only resort you can walk to the MK.

so if and when - DVC member will be able to walk to 3 theme parks.:goodvibes

lots of us have a big attachment to the MK - it was the first.

Knowing Disney, they will work up the interest to a feverish pitch. They are masters at it.

Yes, I agree. Although I don't really like the CR, it does hold a soft spot with me.
It just seems "so Disney" to me. Partially because it was an orignal resort, and many early pictures were of the CR with the mono going through it.

When I was a kid I always wanted to stay there, but my parents could never afford it.
Some years ago at the beginning of my wife's and my Disney era, we tried to stay there but they were sold out. We opted to try the Polynesian instead, and the rest is history.

Did I mention that I love the California Grill? :cloud9:

I feel very much the same way. As a kid, I thought staying at the CR would be the coolest thing in the world. But we couldn't possibly have afforded it.

But my soft spot is for that cool building with the monorail going through it. Never for garden wings sitting next to the CR. And it certainlly won't be for some condo building setting next to the CR. In my dreams, they will incorporate all sorts of futuristic ideas and imagery into the CRV - a worthy companion to the main building. If so, I'm signing up. But, in reality land, I figure they will throw in a handful of CR-esc things, but, in the end, it will be a condo next door. In which case, I'll probably pass.

the bridge overpass whatever it is called is probably for you....

it connects with the 4th floor - so you don't have to go outside to ride the monrail....

while it does not have the monrail going through it - it will be the closest thing.

besides that monrail is noisy. and I don't like the white noise. It isn't really noticeable at the time - but after staying the CR tower we stayed in a 1-bedroom at OKW - boy what a difference....

so hopping for easy access to the monrail - but the peace and quiet of no-monrail.

besides that the MK views - for the upper floors will be pretty wonderful!:cloud9:

it does have a moving floor - will that work. (I think like the ones at US/IOA)
There are a tons of places with moving sidewalks. I want one of these:

jmho, think the CRV may appeal to a whole new market.

The Contemporary evokes very strong feelings for many of us aging mouskeeters, seems to be a love it or hate it mentality.

When DH & I think of WDW; it is the one of the things we associate with our earliest memories = real or perceived, to us, it symbolizes Disney as much as the MK Castle.:)

I agree, but I'm not so sure what feelings the new C-shaped thing will trigger..
