Vintage resort pics?

OMG. My baby just turned 13 and he was 6 on our first trip, but the idea that seomday I could be sharing those photos when he's 28? I'm all misty eyed.

As a kid who went to Magic Kingdom the first time on July 4th, 1979 (and didn't stay on site - didn't even realize such a thing was possible), and returned for the first time in March of 2000, these pictures are MAGIC.

Keep em coming and BUMP!

:thumbsup2

This is from the Contemporary Resort in 1982. The furniture had been recently replaced. But this was the last time we were there when the Indian pics were still on the walls... The "World" map (on the left) would eventually be ripped off the walls and sold for scrap masonite for $5.00! Most were heavily damaged in the removal process and all the frames were destroyed.

This is what the room at the Grand Floridian looked like in 1988. The decor was very pleasant and this trip was the first time we encountered the "pay" fridge!

After the Contemp rooms were remodeled, they looked like this in 1989...

contemp89-2.jpg

Looks like they saved a lot of money on the new furniture and artwork... again 1989.

I always liked having two sinks in the bath as we had in 1989 at the Contemporary Resort. After the next renovation, there was only one basin.

Great photos! Thanks for sharing. First time I went to WDW was 1977 or 1978 when I was about 11 but we did not stay onsite so I have no photos of any rooms. I do remember the ticket booklets and how each ride cost a certain amount of tickets.

I think the Contemp. looked better in the early 80's with the flowery bedspreads and the pictures on the walls than it did in the late 80's. They definitely should have kept the double sinks.

hey how do i post pictures? whats the html code? im new here and got some pics i wanna post.

First, HTML can't be used here. A similar but different language is used to post.

Simple. First you upload the image to Photobucket or a similar site. Second, copy the URL from the box labeled "IMG CODE - Forums & Bulletin Boards" and paste it into the text box here. Voila! You've posted a picture!

I actually prefer the decor of the GF in the 80's over the current decor.

hmmm well i figured out how to post pictures but it says my post count is to low to post links!! anyway i have some park map pics from the 90s i wanted to post as well as some shirts and park tickets from the 90s. oh well.

Please please, pretty please do not quote the photos themselves. Flying Lizard's stream of pics runs three times on one page and Mary's poor mom would probaly die to see her 70's fashion challenged (no disrespect mom, who wasnt back in the day) self posted over and over and over.

Leave a comment, leave a new photo, but pretty please with sugar on top stop making us scroll through the same pics over and over.

I don't know if anyone else feels the same way, but I actually prefer to see photos quoted - that way I know what's being commented on without having to search back.

I guess a compromise would be to only quote the particular photo you're talking about if it's one of a group.

k it worked. these are just some things i find memorable from my disney trips from the first time in 1995 until 2001.

Very cool. It makes me wish that I'd saved my Guidemaps! I think I'll have to start doing that this year.
