Hi there, I am looking for some help for DISers and CMs on this one. I recently read an article about a wonderful couple who brought 104 tiny maple syrup bottles with them from their home state(NH-I think) and gave them out as "Thank yous" to CMs who made their trip special in any way(I suspect that could have probably given out hundreds :goodvibes ). In any case I LOVE the idea, but I am not from NH -I am a New Yorker, and I don't think apples are very practical-lol. I was thinking about a pin like maybe a "thank you " or a "WOW" pin as our way of saying "Thanks". What does everyone thing? I know the CMs are not allowed to accept tips, but I wonder if this would be okay-and appreciated? My other thought was some sort of candy, but I don't know -that sounded a bit cheesy to me the more I thought about it. Please give me any input you have.

Thanks for the help!

:)

gifts are awesome. my fave has been a card that says "thank you for the magical moment with you". one girl game me a mint. since we cant eat or drink anything on stage... we hafta shove it in our pockets till break... so chocolate is bad...

one great gift is - if a CM really makes you feel special. look at their name tag, remember what their role was, what park they were at and WRITE A LETTER. when you guests write a letter about us we get a special recognition in front of everyone. its awesome!!!! you can also go up the GUEST SERVICES and tell them that you want to give a CM an APPLAUS-O-GRAM... this will reach that CM by the end of the week most of the TIME. APPLAU-O-GRAMS are so rare b/c guests dont know about it, and guests rarely go to guest services to say something good.

so give the CM a little card that you designed (make a business card you can usually order 1000 business card for $30 or so), and then write a letter or go to guest services. that will be the best gift ever!

We did am Applau-o-Gram for a CM on our trip in Dec. The CM was so nice I went to guest services in MGM (then) to see what I could to make sure this CM was reconized for his outstanding customer sevice. I was told about the Applauogram then. My DS 5, fell and cut his arm and dropped his pop corn. Bill (the CM) he was an older gentelmen in manitance came right over to see how he was, went and got him a new box of pop corn and then escorted us all the way to the front of the park to the nurse. I had no idea there was a nurse station in the parks. It was a comfort to know some really cared enough to go out of there way to help us. Come to think of it I should have done one for the nurse as well. My son was spoiled rotten in there. He walked out with more loot than most birthday parties he goes too. They could not do enough for him.

If you have an awesome experience on the phone with one of the disney reservationists please ask to go to the compliment line. That is always a great way to say thanks!!:woohoo:

A really simple one that happened to me was being given a lollipop.

The family had prepared a ton of lollipops with a personal sticker wrapped around them just saying 'Thank you for making our time so magical... from the Thomson family'. The two children of the family just wandered into my store one day and handed one each to me and my fellow cast member. It made us so happy all day and it was the simplest cheapest thing ever.

At the time I was close to leaving Disney World and I was keeping a book of personal messages. The kids signed it for me and I intend to keep it forever haha :-)

I enjoy really personal things. If you have really artistic children something like a drawing wrote out to us is completely magical.

I once had a family of guests in the Emporium that was really stressed because they couldn't get their camera working. I know NOTHING about cameras :sad2: but I know how frustrating it can be, so I helped put in new film and batteries. The guests were so excited to get it working that the first photo they took was.... with me! To this day I wonder if they point to that picture and say "Thats Kristen, a CM who helped get our camera working!"

Thank you to the CMs who answered! I have written letters and called the compliment line you spoke of for quite a few CMs. I am always amazed when someone says they encountered rude or unhelpful CMs-I have ALWAYS had GREAT experiences at Disney. In fact I have had SO many, it's what caused me to come up with the "thank you" gift. You are all tops in my book!:thumbsup2
