WDW will still get something like 85% totality. Keep in mind, the lawyers probably want the lights on if it's even a little cloudy. That's the reason for the changes in places that aren't designed to be open at night. At Carsland in DCA, they do the "Shh-boom" moment with all the neon coming on two minutes after sunset... when it's still pretty much daytime out.Any astronomers on the DIS? It strikes me as strange that they would do all of this...I've only been thru partial eclipses before so I may be way off base but Orlando won't be in the field of totality so some sunshine will be there the whole time. Will it really be that dark there?
Nice to see that Disney is taking Prudent steps to ensure the safety and well being of guests and visitors. Hopefully everyone here is taking some precautions for their home and family Even now it is still not too late to start. Here are some simple things most of us can do
1. Have the family and friends near just in case this turns out to be the start of the Apocalypse
2. Have an emergency light source on hand We have a number of flashlights for the technologically challenged candles will work as well
3. Have lots of good and tasty food prepared in advance
4. Ensure you have PLENTY of ICE on hand if need be to purchase it and store it any cooler you have handy
5. Have plenty of canned and bottled beverages to fill any empty spaces in your cooler (Helps prevent Ice from melting too fast)
Call Al Gore and let him know the Global Warming Problem has been SOLVEDYes what if the sun doesn't turn back on.
Michael so happy to see the rumors of your demise are premature. We held a lovely Memorial Service for you under an Oak tree in the woods nearby but the locals all swore it wasn't trueI figured something was coming on Disney's part to help save them from lawsuits filed by people with no common sense and a desire to make money without working for it.
While Disney is not in the path of totality, it will still be something cool to see. Here at home in Meridian, MS, we are expecting 85-90% so it should be good. The kids will be provided glasses by NASA and the schools are letting them go outside to watch.
Me, I'm moving my afternoon patients to the morning time and getting them seen sooner so both they and myself will be able to view it.
Now, when the next eclipse comes though in 2045 those of us here in Meridian will be in the path of totality. Just gotta hold out that long...
Know where else will be in that 2045 path of totality?
We will not notice much, if any, dimming of natural light during the afternoon.

Ditto what Chartle has to say watching on CBS and have to say I have seen STORM CLOUDS make just as if not darker. Will say that based on news coverage for some the basic common sense of some has gone way down considerOk just watched the live feed from Oregon and guess what at say 97% after totality, when they panned over the crowd, it looked like a slightly overcast day.
Like I posted not expecting much at our 85%.
3 People paying $20.00 and up for a seat in a stadium with plenty of parks nearby
In less than 2 minutes, it was light enough that you couldn't see the lights outside anymore.Oh and in Oregon the sun did turn back on with out any issues.
