:rotfl: :rotfl: Ha! I had the same thing happen at VB....after 2 hrs. of the same laundry in the washer,I too took them out and put them on the counter. Whats with 3 washers and 6 dryers anyway? So, when I went back to put mine in the dryer, the lady gave me a big ole stare down. Had she chose to say actual words to me, well lets just say it would not have been pretty!! (Never get an Italian mad!) So we both just co-existed in the laundry room.:3dglasses

I was kind of curious about the 3 & 6 thing too! If anything I think it should be the other way around, because the dryers are much larger and could fit a couple of loads in them.

Another lady and I were doing laundry and two men came in while I was there and brought a grocery bag of clothes in and put them in the dryer. I was wondering where they washed them, since she had the 3 washers before I got them?:confused3 Were they putting dirty wet clothes into the dryer?:confused3

You know I have never even thought about it being rude to use all the washers if no one else was there. Although I have never had anyone come in while I was doing laundry and I usually do it very late I will no longer use them all.

As for leaving things in there forever I totally agree. Good thing it wasn't me he said something to cause I would have given him a piece of my mind and I really don't have manypieces left to give!

This is good reading we will be going to Disney Vero Beach for our first time in a few days for a long weekend. Looking forward to it.:cool1:

I posted these links elsewhere, but I'm going to put them here for good measure.

See... now I feel bad, because you're a good person and I think now that I'm wrong. Especially if it is way-off hours. Maybe leave one open? Thanks for being nice.

Loribell...
Sorry if I insinuated everyone using all 3 washers at the same time was being rude. I am quite sure you are not. It just seems like every time I tried to do laundry (and I tried early morning, afternoon and late at night)....it always seemed I had a wait except for that one time the woman let me have one of the washers. I found early morning to be the least busy time for doing wash. I know the sign in the laundry said to be "courteous" and please don't do wash after 10 pm....but I'd go up and check for availability at 9 pm and had to wait a long time to get a washer or dryer. Sometimes, I was just getting started at 10:30 or 11 pm. One night I finally completed my laundry around 1 am. It took that long between waiting for the washer and dryers---and I had made my first attempt at 8:30--9 pm. I'd get my wash done after waiting an hour....then have to take my wet clothes out and let them sit on the table for maybe another 60-90 min for someone to come and retrieve their clothes. I just feel when you have all those rooms at the Inn and only 3 washers, leaving at least 1 open is the courteous thing to do. There's just such competition for them. But if absolutely noone was around and you retrieved your clothes in a reasonable amount of time, I'd say you were being courteous. I'm talking mostly about the extremes. My dh and I timed a few people who left clothes in either the washer or dryer for like 4-5 hours ! That's just plain not right :sad2:

POOHFRIEND9 !!!!

Thanks Rob for the valuable links !!!!

Ok...while I love VB....one last little rant....
WHY is there no internet in the rooms (either broadband or wireless) ???? If I had a $1 for every guest I heard grumble about this during our 8 day stay, I'd be rich ;) ;) ;)
Does anyone know if there are any plans for this ? We used the internet alot while at VB and it was a pain to have to keep going out to the lobby or the hallway in the center. Let's get with the new millenium Vero Beach ! :rotfl: :cheer2:

DisDaydreamer,

The links you posted were very helpful and great information.

Thanks for sharing them! :)

Oh neither of you sounded like you meant everyone doing it was rude but you opened my eyes to something I had never thought about. Thank you for that. I do make sure I check very often to be there when the clothes finish, like every 10 minutes or so. I might as well stay in there with my clothes & I often do.

This is what I did initially Loribell. But I pretty much have it timed now. For the Perm Press wash cycle, it's about a total of 30-35 min. If you use a liquid fabric softner, plan on being back at the washer in the 13-15 min range after th washer was turned on. The dryers are on timers. You can set them for 20, 30, 40 etc min.........but in the beginning I was running back and forth to the washer too. Unfortunately not everyone feels the need to do this....or even check back in hours for that matter.

The CM never did put up that sign like I had requested. I wonder if she just forgot or if it was a "disney thing"----like they don't want to insult guests. IOW, it might put Disney's VB in an awkward light to put up a sign that politely requests guests be kind and remove their laundry in a timely manner ? I know Disney often doesn't like to tread on toes if you know what I'm trying to say. I know on a Disney cruise there is absolutely NO tolerance for people who don't keep an close eye on their wash. Ran into many bad attitudes on the Magic last Sept. Once those dryers and washers are finished and turn off, people were taking clothes out and didn't care what the owner of the laundry thought.

I guess this is something I learned from the dorms. We had 5 washers and dryers for about 200 students and we all did our laundry on the weekends. You either watched your laundry and moved it on time or retrieved it from a table. It was considered thoughtless to make others wait. Can't imagine wasting my vacation running back and forth to the laundry room while someone else is out having fun or resting while they leave their laundry is in the washers and dryers. A few minutes is one thing (hard to gage a machine that isn't your own!) but more than 20 minutes is being insensitive.
Vero beach is only 20 days away-Yippee!!!!

Just checking in and saying hello. hope everyone is well.Good read as usual. Maybe it's time to put Fastpass
on the washers and dryers. ;) pirate:
