Something About Nothing............ #14

Yeah, little one said she’s wearing a mask on the plane this time. Don’t blame her. Some at my work wear, and I’m just glad the rest of us did not get sick. She did take the Covid test, came out negative. I think she just has a bad cold. Hehe, when we got tissue box aisle, I said let’s buy a pack of them, she said only need one. She went through the single box we bought in a day. Got more for her tonight. I’m thinking maybe even a flu strain, given she’s had it for almost a week now.

Clearing skies, and as we walked back from picking up gelato, as a coffee flavor there little one loves, and thought would feel good on her throat. And saw a dull looking moon with so pretty pink horizon.

Hehe, DH the only one that has gone to bed so far.

Tomorrow plans, are getting the trash out, and visiting sister. Her youngest step granddaughter turned 6 today, so going with her to party for the little, as part of our visit with her tomorrow afternoon.

Ooh not much on, may switch channel.

Probably a Florida bug, never fails, someone in our travel party will bring home that souvenir.

Carole - the ‘lil was obsessed with that movie when it came out, pretty sure I would’ve been able to recite the dialogue.

Wanted to mention, really surprised this week when out in a huge/fancy grocery store in outskirts of the city to see at least 1/3 of the people in masks and many with disposable gloves on…mostly customers but, many employees too.

Has anyone else noticed an Uptick in their area? Dark humor DH & I mused if something was going on and we missed the memo. Granted, it’s right next to a huge hospital, maybe people just more cognizant that Work/live/visit there? Haven’t really observed that much here elsewhere lately.

lol.....we know almost every word too!!! Especially the songs, and find ourselves still singing along together to every one. It`s the old adage......just because we can`t sing doesn`t mean we won`t haha......followed it with the original Omen! I forgot how scary that one was.

It`s a non event here (long may it continue) I can`t remember the last time we saw anyone wearing a mask. Except for one silly woman who had a mask on but her nose was out of it......pointless in that way.

In my area, I check a website of the virus numbers.
Not a lot of activity at this point.
Have been seeing those in Walmart wearing masks at times in the town next to me.

Glad to hear your area is a low one now, you had it high for a long time in the past.

Hard to imagine 4 years ago it was all just beginning.

Nice late night last night, watching a scary movie just before bed is maybe not the best idea, but fell asleep fairly quickly after a couple of times nudging Tom whispering......what`s that noise.....did you hear that.......lol......

Up bright and early this morning for no particular reason, going to head out to get some groceries then do some baking for Kyle`s office, with it being Easter week I want to send in some nice treats for them, so that`ll take up most of the afternoon. Alongside watching the Australian Grand Prix we recorded during the night, once upon a time we would have got up to watch it live, not anymore, recording will work, but the guy on the radio just told me the result and I couldn`t turn it down fast enough!! Spoilers!

Toast with marmalade this morning and some more of that lovely tea mum gave me, I think I`ll order some when it`s almost done, it`s very nice, lunch will be something quick, and dinner will be a joint of beef, hoping it comes out rare to medium rare with some roast potatoes and veg and will have some dessert tonight, plan to make some caramel ice cream and maybe some ginger cake too if I have the time.

And another week ahead. Easter weekend coming up, everyone is asking what we`re doing, we don`t usually do much for Easter, a nice dinner on the Sunday is about it, but seems now you`re supposed to have plans......lol.....we`ll see.

This week I`ll be volunteering in school once I think, Tom has two afternoons set aside for his volunteering, he may add another and I might help out there too if they are short of folks, they`ll let us know if they do. I think it might be too cold to walk just yet with that wind.

Tea has brewed, so time for the first pot of the day for me, will enjoy another when sleeping beauty gets up. Lazy early Sunday morning, always nice, but another cold one ahead too.

Good luck to Janet and family on their event today, hope you have some fun!!!! 🏃‍♀️

So cold at least I won’t feel my bakers cysts acting up :p

Lynne that does sound like something more than a cold. Chicken soup IV! I discover Vicks scented box the other day. Ah mine, all mine

Mac I e decided WM is a pretty good representation of humanity, for better or worse lol

Hehe, haven’t been in a Walmart for quite awhile now.

Well, I was hoping to sleep later today. But DH thought we should talk as he woke me up hoping for a response. So, I figured, no matter what, we are early risers.

Ack, Keisha, that is cold for today and tomorrow. With our clearing of skies last night, while beautiful sunny start, and will be all day, we went below freezing in the overnight, and 31 degrees out at almost 9 this morning. And bad hair day alert for me. 26 mph winds, making a feel like temp at your temp. Yep, a 10 degree lower temp feeling from those blowing, blustery wind. No need to put those winter jackets away yet. And was windy enough last night, wished I had grabbed a hat. Will be wearing one today. Sister had made me a boiled wool hat a few years ago. I like wearing it, as one that fits me perfectly. And is warm. The dress for the day for both of us. It is Spring season now, right?

Many of our early time for Easter has been an Easter that was cold and one, snowy. Hoping some warmer days come as we get toward the end of March.

But loving this so bright with sunshine day. Inside, where we still have our heater on. Sigh. But keeping warm, with tea and coffee for us two.

Hoping little one feels better today. Will see if she wants to go with us. DH thinks she will. I’m not so sure. But as she is not an early bird in any way, our start will be after older one goes for his late morning work start.

Ah that hearing of trash cans to curb tonight. Hoping all trash is secured, as can see some blown if that wind continues through the night.

Most Serene and relaxing Sunday wish for all. Palm Sunday today. Can’t believe we are a week out from the end of the month, and Easter Sunday. Woot!

Sun made it feel warmer. Going into low 60’s the next few days, thank God the front has passed. No idea of my time. Despite two trips spending 7 hours inside the apple Store to handle, my watch still has no syncing and the mister is on a random iCloud account vs the one we always shared. I am losing patience with apple’s hipster employees, never an issue buying phones/having them set up at either ATT corp store, Target or even WM.:confused3

I like this site’s monthly races, free pint after by the sponsoring pub and food truck. Mexican this time, yuck, making wings soon.

Lynne, I lost a boiled wool hat I had, pulled it out when outdoors for longer periods of time. It was almost too warm and always gave me the worst hat hair/static lol.

I didn`t even know it was Palm Sunday!!

No, I didn`t know they were remaking it, wish they would leave the classics alone, remakes very rarely work.

I do love people watching in Walmart......yep, you see everything in there!!!

Nice picture!!!! Sounds a good well organised event Janet, and annoying with the timing issue, yes, you`ve spent far too long in with those employees for it not to be working correctly. Glad you enjoyed it though!

Wings are so much better than Mexican food!! Enjoy!!

Beautiful day here in the end, cold but my mum woud probably say it`s bracing and would blow the cobwebs off us......we braved a beach walk, not on the sand as such, but our friends dogs went on for a run around and loved it.

i-RkVW4wk-L.jpg

Did some baking this afternoon, only made around 50 cookies for Kyle`s office as some are off on vacation this week and they`re only in till Thursday, but I think they`ll enjoy them, ooey gooey in the middle as they should be.

i-2CpHgKJ-L.jpg

Beef for dinner was beautiful, splendid meal and two of our friends joined us for a bite which was nice, glad I had a bigger beef joint than we needed.

Lazy night ahead for us, after our walk today I think our legs will be appreciative, we only thought we`d be an hour or so, ended up walking for almost 2 hours, in the cold!!! Glad the sun was shining.

Time for another pot of tea and try not to think about those cookies nestling away in the pantry!

Good Monday morning!!!

Spring hasn`t sprung yet, we have a high of 42F and rain today, lovely.

In school this morning reading and Tom has changed his time for this morning too, it suited one of the other volunteers better to do Tom`s afternoon, doesn`t matter to us one way or the other, we can suit ourselves. We were supposed to be getting some furniture delivered today, they called and asked if it could be tomorrow instead, so worked out nicely.

And I do plan to finish the last TR this week, it`s dragged on long enough!!

Doing a Hunter`s Chicken tonight, chicken breast wrapped in bacon, cooked in bbq sauce with grated cheese on top, I don`t bother with the cheese but Tom likes it, usual sides, lunch will be turkey and tomato sandwiches and a quick breakfast of toast with marmalade for me and cherry jam for Tom. First pot of tea coming up.....

Happy Monday!!!

Ah sure feels like a Monday. And with continuing clear skies, we are again below freezing this early morning. But glad with the full day of sun, rain wet is gone. Until tomorrow, commuting start with a rainy day. Fitting, I’d say.

But glad after a longer boot up, back to that web access way, though new secured way said was loaded and will be able to use soon. Whatever. Connected however, and staying such, is all needed when not Ethernet connected in the office.

And by the time we got back from my sister’s last early evening, trash cans all at the curb, and will be seeing the first of the trash trucks in another hour or so. Thus, quiet enough heard, and even not a lot of traffic heard yet. Why I like to leave very early morning when commuting.

Full day of sunshine to starting with sunrise starting in a half hour from now. Still seems so dark out, though, right now.

Most Marvelous Monday to all. Good morning, as well.

And a pew pew laser shooting sound from our cardinal. So nice he sounds the start of the day.

Good Monday morning everyone :wave2:

Glad your dad is doing better. But hope your granddaughter heals very quickly, being so fit and healthy will help her. Sending her best wishes to heal properly and quickly too!!
Thank you, Carole. Hope your mom is doing well.

Hope you enjoyed your pizza!!
The pizza was ok. I did not particularly care for the sauce on the pizza and the mozzarella cheese was poor quality, The veggies were fresh on the pizza and the Greek salad was very good.

We had received a flyer in the mail about this pizza place and hubby was pretty adamant about trying it. I won’t bother ordering from them again.

Shocked last night to hear of our wonderful Princess of Wales is being treated for cancer
I feel for her. What a terrible amount of press speculation going on about her surgery. Even someone trying to access her hospital records. The media should be ashamed of themselves hounding her until she had to come forward while receiving chemo to give them what they want.

I’am praying for her full recovery.

Guess whose GD placed first in her division today? We are all doing one tomorrow. I’ll be the one walking rather gingerly on new specialist orders for months. Lots of fun treatments started and much more poking & prodding on tap Not complaining, it’s just never on anyone’s bucket list to attend to medical stuff lol.
Congratulations to your granddaughter on her win.

Such a nice photo of you all on your walk.

Just happy I have amazing insurance. The two new meds would just be shy of $1000. I only looked as the mr commented when he picked them up for me they were “$20 total copay, expensive”. No idea what we’d do without that coverage
Having good insurance is a life saver for sure. Glad to hear you are able to get he meds you need.

Yes, awful. Believe she was trying to rescue the pup. This story is absolutely insane…‘merica man foolishness at its best. Even tho he had been warned repeatedly to keep people out of the tank, there were new videos posted on social media. I love his lame excuse why it was “safe”
She was walking her pup by the water and the beast was after her little dog and she did save her pup and it cost her life. Terrible tragedy.

Wanted to mention, really surprised this week when out in a huge/fancy grocery store in outskirts of the city to see at least 1/3 of the people in masks and many with disposable gloves on…mostly customers but, many employees too.
I have been seeing spotty use of masks in the stores.

My favorite is the folks who were their pajamas and house slippers to the store. Yuck!!!!!

I am losing patience with apple’s hipster employees, never an issue buying phones/having them set up at either ATT corp store, Target or even WM.:confused3
I know you are pretty frustrated by now, but if you have the time I would call Apple direct and talk to one of their online tech’s. I had an issue a few years ago and they were very helpful and I did get the issue fixed.

Did some baking this afternoon, only made around 50 cookies for Kyle`s office as some are off on vacation this week and they`re only in till Thursday, but I think they`ll enjoy them, ooey gooey in the middle as they should be.
Your cookies look yummy. I’am sure they will be happy to receive them.

Overcast this morning and windy. Hopefully the clouds will blow out and will get some sunshine later today.

I got bit by a fire ants on Thursday. Did not see a sandhill or anything. Only guess is that they burrowed in the kracks of the pavers down at the pool. It has been a few years since I was bit. I think their venom has gotten a bit stronger if thats possible.

I have oral Benadryl here at home and Benadryl ointment. So I covered the bites with the ointment and took the oral med.

It is a wonder that something so small can inflict so much pain and burning. I was talking to a lady at the pool yesterday and she said her husband had only one bite and was rushed to the hospital as his airway started swelling. One bite is too many.

Some people are highly allergic to their venom. My stepmoms brother died after being swarmed and bitten by fire ants in Texas. That is nightmarish to think about.

We went to the Bonefish Grille for dinner yesterday evening. We went last year about this time and I was not impressed with the food. So decided to give it another try. Same issue. The service is great and the atmosphere is cozy and nice, The Bang Bang Shrimp app was very good, but my steak and crab cake were awful and hubby’s food was not good either. So no more for us. When they first opened here it was very good, but not anymore.

Hubby has been throwing a few shelled peanuts out for the squirrels last few mornings and now they are coming to the slider doors and looking in for him to give them more peanuts in the morning.

Not a lot of plans today. Need to make a few phone calls and run a couple of errands.

Have a wonderful Monday everyone.

Ah squirrels, we call them big tailed rats. Hope your weather gets sunshine again. Those fire ants. Scary when stung by them. I hope you are feeling better soon with the bites you received. I know down there, no bug application on a routine basis is needed.

Ah, glorious sunshine ☀️ is seen. Older one us up, hear him in the shower. Works today, and happy that little one sounds and feels better, as bee nest stirred when she was quizzed about morning plans. Think she definitely feels better. 😊

Good Monday morning everyone :wave2:

Have a wonderful Monday everyone.

Hope you`re not in too much pain with those bites Robbie, sounds so nasty!

We tried a Bonefish last year in Florida, steaks were amazing, fish not so much, but we`d go back and try it again as it was a nice place. Sorry the pizza place was a bust, I`m sure you`re spoiled for choice with other places to eat.

Hope you had a good day.

School was fun this morning, the kids break up on Wednesday for Easter so I had asked if it was ok to bring that class in an easter egg each. With everyone having an allergy now, I wasn`t sure if it would be ok, but the headmistress said it was fine, so they were delighted with their treat. They`re only little and nice to see them so pleased to get a little gift.

Kyle sent me a txt to say his office colleagues were thrilled with the cookies, I`m so glad, he says he doubts they`ll last till Thursday lol.....I need to make double again for them.

It hasn`t stopped raining all day today, so this afternoon I pottered about the house doing little bits here and there while Tom was volunteering, I do enjoy days like that when it`s miserable, also managed some trip report, almost done....finally!!

Our furniture is being delivered tomorrow morning between 7 and 10am.....he asked if 7 was too early, lol....told him no problem there, we`ll be up.

Dinner was nice, I made a spicy bbq sauce and it worked really well, much better than the jar sauces you can buy, never use them, so it was sweet and spicy at the same time, we like it that way.

Now having some more tea and a slice of cherry bakewell tart, very moreish!!

Good Tuesday morning!!

We have faint sunshine, no rain and not too cold at 45F (still cold) this morning so although we have a few things to do today, we might try and get out a walk before we do anything else.

Made a breakfast sausage casserole last night, never made this one before, it sets like a frittata but with height, used plain old pork sausage casings removed, home made hash browns, onions, red pepper and a few other ingredients, baked it and will reheat it this morning with some fruit. Melons are ripe right now and very nice. Light lunch I think after that!!

Dinner will be baked honey balsamic mustard chicken tonight, I always use skinless and boneless thighs for that dish, works much better.

Going to have little Elise on Thursday as her school breaks on Wednesday, not sure if it`s for the whole day or just the morning, so we`ll do some baking and teach her some new things too, she is like a little sponge when it comes to cooking and baking. She is loving being a weekly boarder at her school now, started as a day pupil last year, but a lot of her friends are boarders so she asked if she could too, no one wanted her to stay full terms even though the school is less than an hour away, so weekly boarding was a good compromise, she is blossoming since she started here.

Time for tea, still drinking the products mum gave us, I have ordered some so it should be here by the weekend.

Tuesday again and Easter weekend coming up......and sending all good wishes to those who need it today 💜

Have a lovely Tuesday ☺️

Ah that ever so dark with the whitest moon I’ve seen in a while. But quick enough commute, And tea from that hot water tap on a bottle. Quick enough boot up, and city week day start. Sigh. It’s that afternoon commute that is no fun at all.

And so, those mid week, week day city routines, are fitting given the first day in, is a Taco Tuesday. While neighborhood I’m in is mostly Portuguese, and Puerto Rican, no Taco Bell place around. But can get some good empanadas.

And so, day of week to enjoy that taco or two, eating or dreaming of your favorite filling. Taco Bell says Taco Tuesday, and my wish for a most terrific Tuesday today.

So quiet. But know at least one person on same floor, comes in around when I do. As I use elevator, and of the two, one is almost always on the ground floor, and the other a floor, the one I exit out. But I usually see a vehicle go to park at a different door than I enter. We have 4 entrances, so this early morning, can park the closest to all of them. Ah tea. Yes, and unlimited hot water, as seems almost all of the 12 or so bottles to be used.

Good morning.

Waiting for the mr to return home with jersey mikes. I haven’t had one in ages, he’s a frequent flier

DS had gallbladder surgery today. Up at 3:30 am. He’s down for the count. I can barely keep eyes open. Will be a miracle if I make 9 pm
Greek salad was very good.
Ooh yum
Such a nice photo of you all on your walk.
Thanks I’m still struggling to get back to where I was walking pre the Dec into feb illnesses that still are mocking me. Will get there, eventually.
I got bit by a fire ants on Thursday
OMG that’s awful. Hope u are a bit more comfy today
Ah squirrels, we call them big tailed rats.
Yesterday, laid out a trail of stale, unshelled peanuts on the porch railing for them. Still untouched. Haven’t seen them or bunnies in ages. Likely carried off the hordes of hawks who circle like vultures here:(
They`re only little and nice to see them so pleased to get a little gift.
So cute. Doesn’t take much to make their pure little hearts happy
Our furniture is being delivered tomorrow morning between 7 and 10am.....he asked if 7 was too early, lol....told him no problem there, we`ll be up.
All good?

I was just posting how quiet it was on here today!

Hope your boy sleeps soundly all night and no pain, and sounds like you`ll sleep like a baby too.....enjoy that food after your exhausting day.

Yes, furniture arrived at 7.02 am.....not bad considering they said between 7 and 10am!!

Glad it all went well though, always a worry!!

So quiet on her today, well I know what some of you are up to, but jeez....thinking back to many moons ago, this thread was so much busier.

Furniture arrived as promised, very reliable company who we have had furniture from several times before, very talented men.

Had a lovely walk this morning, it was sunny but a little chilly, we did 3 miles then a few bits of shopping and dropped in on one of our friends who has been poorly, glad to see she was better as she was down at the stables with the horses, she`s still not 100% though but looking a lot healthier. We stayed for lunch with them which was nice, then headed home mid afternoon.

Dinner was lovely, always enjoy honey mustard dishes.

Lazy night chatting with Tom as we both sat with our devices mooching on the net while listening to music, nice and relaxing.

Not sure if the gang are meeting for lunch tomorrow with one not feeling so well and another will be getting ready to head off for three weeks in the sun, so might be lunch at home tomorrow.

Early night tonight I think, hoping to get out a walk again tomorrow, will see what it`s like in the morning!

How is it Wednesday already!!

Hope Charade hasn`t been swamped with all the medical paperwork!!!

Schools finish up for Easter today so everything gets busier when they`re finished, we`re usually out shopping early enough we miss the busier crowds. Once the fog clears this morning I think we`ll manage a walk, it is a little colder today but no rain forecast so the beach will be a little gloomy but always nice to walk along the promenade.

Still trying to decide what to have for Easter Sunday dinner, usually leg of lamb which we love is the choice of most that day, but not sure. Good Friday we have a good steak, Saturday might be curry which just leaves Sunday, I think it`s just us this year. Decisions.

Still haven`t decided what`s for dinner tonight! Might get some fish I think. Breakfast first, no sausage casserole was finished yesterday, it was lovely and I`d make it again, I did like how it set and you could slice it easily. This morning is just French Toast for me with some syrup and fruit, Tom just wants cereal, simple tastes.

Kettle on for second pot of tea then we`ll see if weather has cleared enough for a walk.

No lunch out today with the gang, everyone is busy or poorly, we`ll catch up with them next week.

Time for tea and weather watch, sea looks very calm now I can just about see it, might be ok for walking.

Have a great day 😁

Ah and the rain comes this afternoon, and more, heavier at times rain tomorrow. Have to make sure umbrella is in car tonight.

But commute was dark and overcast, no moon to see in that cloud covered sky.

Laptop has new way to first sign on, but seemed to be okay and boot up quick enough, as not using WiFi in the office. And I guess to save bandwidth, every time I go on an online meeting, my camera says it’s not working. Used to until, I guess, the last couple of updates. No matter, I know it’s there, so I still make sure it is off most of the time. Most don’t share their camera anyway, in most of our meetings.

And so, DH somehow turned off the alarm as he fumbled out of bed. Ugh. He usually gets up before me, so I wait to hear alarm go off, then I get up. Didn’t this morning, so I was 1/2 hour later then I usually am. And in that 1/2 hour difference, so much more traffic into the gate. And lots more trying to park at the same time as me. But thankful my favorite spot was not taken yet. Alarm was on after I got up. Have to make sure tomorrow, to see if on, after DH gets up. Doesn’t happen often, but at least still on time, as I always get everything ready the night before, and are quick enough out of the door.

Tea from bottled water, and still very quiet in my office. Should be seeing some soon enough, as a 8 hour day, staring at 6:30, means leaving the earliest can, at 3 pm.

And today who do I see?

Hump Day Camel Meme

Yep, camel here, and certainly feels like a hump of a day feeling day, as get over today, and then the fabulous Friday feeling is a day away. Yay, at the mid point of our week. Ending in a holiday too. Woot!

Won’t get too much break from kids out of school. Here, kids only get tomorrow to Monday off. Hence, glad with that much more rainy day tomorrow, won’t be seeing the uptick in afternoon traffic from school being open.

Most wonderful Wednesday to all today. Hope Mac is feeling better. Charade having fixed that issue the other day, MonyK getting eggs from those chickensy roaming into the house, and all the other homies doing well today.

Crunch time for Easter basket filling time. Almost done. Youngest DS eats little candy, no chocolate. Yeah, we never vacationed on Spring Break when my kids were in grade school. Did travel in January when kids were in college, when holiday break between sessions. But didn’t go anywhere when they had their college Spring breaks. Our trip in early March was too busy enough, we both agreed not to go that time again. A week earlier, maybe.

Sounds like you are ready for Easter, Keisha. Yeah, I’m hoping less cars on the road tomorrow afternoon. I don’t like those Cadbury eggs either. So we don’t buy them. Other chocolate items? Yes. Last weekend, made up two buckets’ worth of filled plastic eggs, and other assorted plastic Easter containers, that are filled with toys and candy. On Sunday morning, will go to my sister’s to hide them all. 10 year old, 6 year old, 5 year old and 3 year old will have fun finding them all later that day.

Ack, not time for lunch yet. Morning is crawling by. We have a grocery store across the street, so will walk there for my lunch break. Little one wants pretzels and chip bags. Easy enough. Have to bring your own bags, or open carry or buy a bag, so I keep one of those reusable, big grocery bags in my desk drawer. And a toss away one, to take any purchases that need to come home in. Have a bowl of soup in refrigerator, so will nuke it when I get back. Crackers I do have at my desk. 46 out, so winter jacket and hat will be worn soon enough. I much rather walk than to move my car. My close spot would be taken quick, as many do drive at lunchtime break. And I don’t mind the walking and getting some outside air.
