I don't disagree. Now that Marriott & Starwood have linked, I've been pricing a trip to the Swan later this year ... not as big of a deal to pay their parking fee now.I might as well drive and pay the daily resort fee.

Yes, it is.Disney is not in the metropolitan Orlando area, though.
welp you got Gondola's coming to a number of the resorts to help ... plus Minnie Vans are available!
PO-TAY-TO, PO-TAH-TO... #marketingYea, it isn't a perk.
We already pay for the lot and everything associated with it through our maintenance fees.
That is why they won't be charging Vacation club guests.
Meh. I don't have the energy for another WWWD conversation. Made my points... moving on...Ah, all goes back to Walt's dream where anyone can go to Disney, regardless of price. Since hes not here, I guess it doesn't matter to those higher ups anymore
Except Gondolas are a year away and Minnie Vans are not free.

I will say while it's disappointing you are charging people who by bringing their own cars tend to alleviate the stress on Disney transportation, let's not forget the Swan and Dolphin has been charging for overnight parking for years, and it hasn't diminished their occupancy numbers.
Attendance is up over the past several years (~14% since 2010) and they know it will only go higher with Star Wars: GE coming - so I think they are willing to risk some families now not going at all if the trade off is plenty of people to replace that family and an increase % that do not have cars and are "stuck" on site and have to use Disney transportation and Disney dining and can't (as easily) get to Universal, etc.
Yeah, but their base rate isn’t $400+ per night either.
If I have a problem with something that Disney does, I write them.Do people just complain on social media or do they actually write Disney like you would a Senator?
ME being FREE should be incentive enough to take it over renting a car. I don't think an extra $20/night is going to change the mind's of people who are renting cars and driving to WDW.Because they WANT you to take ME and then be stuck on property - they don't want you do have your own car and thus be able to go "off campus" or *shudder* to Universal
There will always be options. The point is, if people aren't willing to pay the resort parking fee, but they want to stay onsite, they're not going to spring for a Minnievan, they're going to take the resort bus for free.right but they are coming and there are options. Just think that is they way they are headed vs more buses
What no one is even talking about is how if you are driving Disney is double dipping on you. Not only is your current room rate already priced with Magical Express if you drive you are spending money on a service you are not using and then being forced to pay a parking fee. That is just a cash grab if I have ever seen one.
Disney is not in the metropolitan Orlando area, though. Space is plain and simply not an issue there.[/Q
This is true until they need the space to expand.
I wouldn't go near that Gondola. They freak me out, esp in the summer when they will shut down every afternoon most likely lol
Minnie Vans are overpriced beyond. Uber on the other hand, oh yes
