Official 2017 Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend Thread

I did. Talked to the guy who I know is in charge of disabled runners at WDW. And he knew absolutely nothing. He says he knows people are starting to get agitated about lack of info but this was out of his realm of control. And they're waiting to have all the pieces lined up before releasing any kind of update.
Thank you for asking and getting back to us!

VERY underrated restaurant option at Disneyland - the husband and I just had an outstanding meal at Catal in Downtown Disney. Light and fresh (he had a manchego and hangar steak salad while I had an heirloom tomato salad and and order of grilled pacific prawns), and just what felt great after a day in the sun. Awesome wine list and craft cocktails, as well as many local beers.

This is definitely two-thumbs up and will be a future option for us!

Lots of outstanding looking pasta dishes on the menu if you are still looking for carbs for the weekend!

Agreed. I ate there last year and really enjoyed the lobster paella! We've already got dinner reservations there for Sunday evening. Good luck to everyone tomorrow morning.

I see some forecasts indicating a chance of isolated thunderstorms on Sunday. Hoping it stays away as lightening will be a reason for delay or cancellation.

After the Tink horror stories I was worried about security and the water stations. I hope I'm not jinxing anything but I thought today went amazingly well.

Ran with DW and we breezed through security (no bags) and I noticed no differences between today's temp workers and the past volunteers. Everybody seemed cheerful and supportive. Today was a lot of fun. I don't think I've ever seen so many small children on a course before. So cool to see!

I hope your experience was as good as mine and it continues throughout the rest of the weekend!

Ran the 5K. If its like today for the rest of the mornings, the sun will not be the issue. Its humid and warm without the sun out and will sap the energy out of you. Just some advice... do not think you'll have an easier time because the sun is not out. You'll have a horrible time at the end,esp for the half. Take a slow easy pace. Up to each person, but i would not try for PR.

I'm curious how security lines will be tomorrow - it'll be a better indication for the half. They didn't have a bag check security line, nor was it difficult to get around I wonder if they learned from Tink or this is just because it was the 5K.

Interesting. Maybe I should wear a tank top instead of the shirts they give our for the Double Dare.

5k was fun if not the greatest weather. Starting early definitely helped though. Stopped twice for photos.

Didn't have any PhotoPass working the second stop. Same at the horse. But considering it was tucked behind another photo stop I'll give that one a pass just because I think that would be hard. They did have photographers at other stops (I asked when I stopped for Lotso and the Toy Story men) I just missed the ones with them I guess.

Also, Pumpkin Spice Latte is available in Downtown Disney for those of y'all who are PSL fans. Got one today.

Did anyone see the bib thief get detained by the cops? She's been stealing bibs for years, and there's a video online of the police stopping her as she gets her medal.

We saw police escorting someone out of the finisher area but had no idea it was her!!

Saw it on Facebook. Glad she finally got caught.

The 10K was humid, but was AMAZING. A total character explosion. I had a blast and halfway-point sweaty hugs from @mrsg00fy are the best!!!!!!!

Also, running with pom poms is pretty legit.

Had a great time in the 10k, too! Was planning to take it easy in preparation for the half tomorrow but I was feeling good at the start and decided to go for it! Ended up with a shiny new PR by 2:51! Loved the course and the characters!

Now for the really, really bad, though. Mrs @camaker was running her first ever 10k from Corral J. On a hot, humid morning like this one THEY RAN OUT OF WATER CUPS!! That's inexcusable in a local race, much less a feature race of the size and stature of RunDisney. Especially after how much they trumpeted the need to hydrate for safety in the pre-race.

That is unbelievable--and irresponsible! I would be irate. I hope people were expressing their displeasure!

Again, security was well managed this morning. Lots of characters and friendly staff/support...but I would've given my first born for a cup of Powerade by mile 3 or 4. I'm surprised there was none.
Otherwise a really fun race. So many awesome costumes, too!

Congrats to everyone that ran today!
