.Long time since I was a CAPA kid, 32 years. God, I loved that school...
.
CAPA is on the list for granddaughter to apply to for next year. She isn't a performer but is a gifted artist. I never knew they also accepted students for physical art.
This thread is teaching me how little I know about popular culture. I've never heard of so many people that everyone else recognizes!
That was my major, Visual Art. CAPA really respects the kids who go there, respect for their gifts.
She's applying to 3 schools outside of her feeder school otherwise it's Washington. I'll home school her before I let her go there. This is a sample of her artwork. She did it freehand. Know it's not the right forum but I am really proud of her.View attachment 272557
Very cute! If I can give a little advice, make sure that when she presents her portfolio for CAPA's art teachers to judge on the day of her audition there is variety. Besides drawings like the one above, have her do at least one landscape, and a still life. Have her use different mediums, like colored pencils, watercolors or acrylic paints, and pastels. The teachers like to know that she'll take to teaching in different mediums. Good Luck to her!
