Minne Marathon Team List

Another one planning on being in the car headed towards Epcot right at 4:30 a.m. for the 15k. Seems like that gives us a little extra time for running late or traffic problems.

Plot thickens: so my DH just came in and said he was talking to his dad who is a doctor and he told two of his doctor friends and they didn't think I should be running the 15k. My doctor and a specialist did my ultrasounds last week and told me I'd be fine. (I told them this is a fun run, not a PR setting run- we talked about it a long time). I'll be 20 weeks. I never run Disney for time anyway- it's too fun just being there!

I'm totally annoyed now because DH's dad is acting like I'm being irresponsible and selfish. Luckily, DH was at the doctor appointments where they said I was in great shape and could handle it. I already told DH if I feel the least bit bad, I'll stop. Plus, could there be a safer place to run than surrounded by WISHers and medics?! :goodvibes Guess I'll have to bring my phone after all so DH doesn't send the Red Cross out for me! ;)

OK, I'm going to take deep breaths and think happy Minnie thoughts... sorry for the vent!

While I'm on a roll, my mom was making fun of me for having packing stress. Hmmm... two kids, park time, pool time, two races- now why would I find packing difficult?! But, she's doing the half with me in January and it's her first big race- just wait until she's freaking out about her favorite socks, her body glide, etc! :lmao:

We leave tomorrow! Everything is packed, gonna charge all the electronics tonight!

Question for those who have done this before -- is the bag check area pretty secure?? I am debating on bringing my camera, and leaving it in my bag with my towel/water/tshirt -- but didn't know if i should chance it..

DO NOT CHECK YOUR CAMERA!!!!! Electronics are not covered by airline insurance. So, if you were to fly COntinental and you camera bag, which was in teh middle of a bigger bag, came back empty, and there were no TSA stickers on your bag, they would blame it on TSA and tell you where you could go. (Yes, if you can't tell, I am speaking frm experience). If your camera is digital, it can go through with your carry on no problem. If it's film, pull it out and show the guard. Seems like it might be easier just to not have it loaded, then it oculd be scanned adn oyu could just have the film hand checked.

:cool1:  :woohoo: One more sleep!!!! if you want to call it that, like the little cutie in the disney commercial "I'm too excited to sleep"

I'm 90% packed, started charging electronics, etc....

Jen, :grouphug: you're doc says you're ok, you feel ok, you have every right to be selfish and go and have some fun!!! Like you said, there will be plenty of others watchin' out for you!

Jen - Sorry about people who don't have a clue trying to run your life and make you look bad. :guilty: We know you know how to take care of yourself and baby GOofy! :grouphug:

Jen - know how that goes all too often. My doc and orthopedic both ok with my walking distances and my mother "well, ok but I just don't know that's a good idea". Listen to your body and of course your doctor. Plus like you said, there will be plenty of WISHers around.

Stacey - I know!! Leave tomorrow eve but working from home tomorrow so going to be hard to concentrate.

Can I go now? Can I, huh?

Jen in GA I think if you have been running and your not going all out you should be fine. I remember snow skiing at 5 months with my last one. You know your body and I'm sure you are smart enough to know if you just need to stop and (terrible words here) be swept.

Thanks everyone!

I didn't mean to go so crazy. I know my DH's dad has good intentions. (Of course, I also know if I'd listened to him and the other critics when I started running, I would have never run the Goofy or anything else, and I would have missed out on so much! Thank goodness for WISHers!)

I'm so excited for everyone heading out soon. I'll be dragging in with the last of us on Friday- straight to the Expo! My DH used to complain about having to go to the Expo, but now he's used to it and just wants me to get my packet and calm down!

Thanks everyone!

I didn't mean to go so crazy.
That's ok, we;ll blame it on teh hormones. :rotfl: You thought that was going crazy??? Oh boy, could I teach you how to go crazy! ;)

We are planning on staying off-site, but I plan on leaving our hotel around 3:45. That will give me 45 minutes to get there before the buses start running from EPCOT to Animal Kingdom. We plan on leaving our car at EPCOT also. DH is gonna ride the bus with me to the start at Animal Kingdom and he is going to take the bus for guests to go watch the end at EPCOT. At least it sounds like they are gonna have bus transportation for guests also. That's what this means, right:

Transportation: Transportation will be provided to guests and participants who wish to park at the finish at Epcot® before the race and be bused over to the start at Animal Kingdom®. Buses will begin running at 4:30 am from Epcot®. The last bus to Animal Kingdom® will leave at 5:45 am from Epcot®. If you arrive later than 5:45 am, there will not be any transportation to Animal Kingdom®. You will need to drive you car. (Road closures will begin at 5:45 am.) If you decide to drive to the finish at Epcot® and take a bus to the start, please place the Parking Voucher provided to you in your race packet in your car window so you will not be charged to park at Epcot®.

There will also be buses at Animal Kingdom® to transport guests from the start to the finish at Epcot® once the race has begun.

I am so jealous of all of you. I don't get to leave until Saturday morning!! That's okay though, I'll take what I can get. This is mine and DH's first weekend alone in almost 3 years!!

Jen in Ga - I am so sorry that you are having to deal with a grumpy grandpa. My DH's parents are both like that about everything. I can't run while pregnant without getting a lecture about how it can't be good for the baby!! Luckily for you your DH was there to hear the doctors and you don't have to try and convince him too!!

Jen in GA- Sorry to hear your DH's dad is being a downer on you doing the 15k. At least you have your DH's support because he heard it straight from the Dr's mouth. And I am sure you will listen to your body and know if its too much. :grouphug: the WISH team will be there for you!! :cheer2:

Dana - we are doing the same thing as you as far as parking at Epcot and then riding the bus over the AK and then after the start of the race DH will take the bus back to Epcot to watch me finish. I am assuming that there is bus transportation for sepctators like it says. We weren't going to be leaving until Saturday morning as well but I found a way to make it up Friday night - too late to catch the Expo so I am going to be there first thing (10AM) Saturday morning.

Does anyone who has done the Minnie in years past know if there was bus service for spectators to get back to Epcot?

We are dropping the boys off at the in-laws at 7am so that we can get to the EXPO at 10am. I want to get to the EXPO asap so I can get to our hotel (Royal Pacific) and check in, so I can get my Front of the Line passes to Universal before having some fun. I don't want to spend the entire day standing in line. I want to go ride whatever I want and get back to the hotel to rest!!

Hey andromedaslove: I'll be driving up Saturday morning too. I live in Fort Myers, FL. I'll be driving straight to the Expo. I'm staying at the Caribbean Beach Resort and check-in isn't until 3pm! I may go to Epcot after the expo. Are you going to the meet Saturday at 4:30pm (Port Orleans Riverside - food court)?? If so, I'll see you there. After the 15K Sunday, I have to drive back home.

Debbie,
Are you still thinking about the Dallas half with Team Prevention? Registration is opening for their other cities, but Dallas hasn't opened yet. Let me know and maybe we could share a room?

I'm all packed and I leave tomorrow morning!! I'm so excited for the trip and the 5K. Hopefully I'll spot some WISHers at the parks and at the race!! Have a great trip everyone!

I have checked my camera several times and it was fine every time. :)

Hey monte. I probably won't be able to go to the Dallas 1/2. I'm soooo broke and I'm just trying to figure out how to keep my house right now. If things change, I'll let you know.

GaJen...I played sand volleyball with DD15 until the end of my 7th month. You could mention Paula Radcliffe to your FIL. You do need to be more careful and aware that your body is different and may respond differently. Your center of gravity may be off a bit and your ligaments a bit more lax.

Just take it easy.

Debbie...I didn't know you're in Ft. Myers. Howdy neighbor! I'm in Sarasota now, but born and raised in Ft. Myers.

WT is very excited. She says everyday that we're going to Disney on Friday after school. She wants to eat at the restaurant with the sticks on the roof (Boma).

I am almost packed, I will try to do most tonight and then finish tomorrow. I am driving up Friday early morning. Will do a 4 miler after work and then that's it until the 15K on Sunday. I will be at the expo Friday around the time it opens.
