Las Vegas Hotel Opinion

Ok, I want to preface that I'm a Los Angeles native and have been to Vegas many many times. Heck, I got married there years ago. However, there are a lot of hotels I've never stayed at. I'm considering a December trip while I'm off of work and some rooms are $17 right now. Please share your opinions and experiences related to these hotels to hopefully help me make an informed decison:

Harrah's
The Linq (stayed there when it was Imperial Palace but haven't been in the area since)
Paris

I would never stay at a $17/night hotel, first off.

Second, the Ceasars properties in Vegas seem to be slipping lately. LOTS of negative reviews and now, bedbugs in several of them. There was a recent slew of articles about that.

I would stick with MGM properties at this point.

We will be staying at Park MGM next month for a weekend. I appreciate that the entire property, including the casino, is smoke free. Room was around $330/night including all taxes and fees (those always add up).

The $17 hotel is Harrah's so it isn't like it is a no-name hotel. You've likely stayed at a $17 hotel but paid a lot more for it because of when you went.

Last year during that time frame I almost stayed at Mandalay for $32. I stayed in 2021 at Excalibur for $28 and it is fine. I usually do like MGM properties but I'm wanting to try a new spot this time and the prices are pretty good for the 3 I listed. Free parking too.

Harrahs is trash these days. Even the casino is gross. It's a Ceasars property. They are all garbage.

The hotel we are staying at is price gouging because of the concert schedule at Park MGM that weekend (we will be there for one, actually). We are fine with it because it's about convenience this time.

I mean, if you aren't picky about hotel rooms go for wherever. My husband recently did a guy's weekend at NY NY and they said it was great. It was around $150 or so per night after taxes and fees. Not bad for a weekend. I know a lot of resorts advertise those super low rates during weekdays, especially in winter. We paid like $120/night for a suite at the Palazzo a few years ago in December. Those rooms routinely go for over $500 on weekends.

Of the ones you've listed I'd only consider Paris. It has a great central strip location. And Mon Ami Gabi is one of the best restaurants in Vegas.

Any suggestions for best family friendly (kids under 12) hotel? Haven’t been to Vegas since before kids were born but they would love to see the Beatles “Love” show.

Las Vegas Strip is currently demolished to be redesigned for the Formula One Race … beware of “WorseThsn Disney construction zones” …

No offense but... not Vegas... I know it's become more "all ages" over the years but I still don't feel like kids should be there.

I’d agree to an extant, but we’re talking a quickie 1 or 2 night trip tops strictly to see the Beatles Love show and maybe the Hoover dam. Not like we’re taking them for a walk on the strip or parking them somewhere so we could gamble.

Well now you’re just taking away all the fun! Lol

Check out some of TravelRuby’s videos on YouTube or NormaGeli. They might have some insight.

I'd recommend the Venetian with kids. It's across the street from where the show is. It's also a cool hotel with an attached indoor mall that is kinda Epcot like.

Great! Thank you we’ll check it out. I remember the mall from our last visit, but last time we were there (pre kids) we stayed at the Wynn which was nice, but not really for kids.

Just the Grand though. There are a LOT of other MGM properties in Vegas and none of the others have had problems with bed bugs. Although I know it can happen anywhere.
You are quite biased. Caesar's must've really done you wrong.

The thing about Vegas is you can get an incredible room at a reasonable price. I would not go cheapest. But from your list I like Paris

It is not "currently demolished." It's fine. My husband was just there a couple weeks ago.

Uber and Lyft drivers are refusing to travel on the Strip …
Everything I am stating is in the local news and reported by the locals struggling with travel to their jobs… and the long drive home .
They are in the process of building 4 overpass bridges to detour traffic .

I’ve only been to Vegas once and stayed in Harrah’s. This was back in January. It was perfectly fine. It wasn’t the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in, but it certainly was not the worst. Like, I would recommend it to a friend and feel pretty good about it, not like I tricked them. The room was clean. The casino felt old, but that’s how I feel about every casino. I thought the location worked well, but again, I’ve only been to Vegas once.

Our last couple experiences at Caesar's properties has been subpar, yes. They didn't really do us wrong, it's just been a gradual slide into bad service and really poor quality, dirty rooms. We used to love Planet Hollywood, but our last stay there was really disappointing.

We have just had better experiences at MGM properties, and their rewards program is better too.
