Largo here. We weren't able to leave because I had to be at work today, and am expected to show up Tuesday morning as well.
And beyond that, we aren't Zone A, and all the officials have been urging more and more that anyone not in mandatory evac to stay put, to keep the roads as clear as possible for those that are. We were told to be where we were going to stay by 5pm today.
And on top of THAT, the traffic on all routes out of the state is INSANE. Hours long traffic jams. This storm is going to hit, and probably pretty hard. Personally, I'd rather be in my home, with all the food and water I have, with my bed and electricity for as long as it stays on, than stuck in my car on the side of the road. I'm much safer in my house. A lot of people that left today (mandatory or not) are going to end up riding this out in their cars. No thank you.
We've got as much food as we could find, which was difficult. We filled every container we had with water, and froze some. Planning to get good, long showers in tomorrow morning, then fill the tub. Have a bunch of lights, batteries, and candles.
This is a first time for both of us so we're just playing it by ear, really. As long as we have power, we'll keep cooking, charging, etc.
