The Cast
Her: Claire (a.k.a Pinky166) 30-something. Loves all things Disney, meeting Signor Grigio in any lounge (over 'ere, Pinot!) and spending DH's $$$...
Me: Karen (a.k.a CustardTart) 40-something. Loves all things Disney, a Kir Royale in Mizner's Lounge and spending slightly less of DH's $$$ than Claire...
The Itinerary
June 5th 2010: depart LGW North Terminal at 11.20am on BA2037.
June 5th - 14th: 9 nights in Bay Lake Tower. Details to be added.
June 14th 2010: Depart MCO at 5.30pm on BA2036.
June 15th 2010: Arrive LGW North Terminal at 6.40am...
The Story So Far...
And so it came to pass that two devout Disney ladies were conversing about potential future trips and their shared upcoming June birthdays when, in a blinding flash of lime green light, the Tag Fairy appeared before them and spoke these words:
"Go forth my Disney Dudettes and spread your DISdom! For it is your destiny to travel together in the sixth month of 2010 to the House of Mouse and celebrate everyday! And it is written on these Boards that you must complete many tasks before returning to these shores. Be prepared for strange and exotic experiences. Savour breakfast delicacies in the company of giant mice, ducks, and bears. Sip nectar from enormous goblets of purest pineapple. And prepare for dangerous encounters with mythical creatures, runaway trains and plunging elevators... Take care, my Orlando loving ladies! Goodbye and remember to complete ESTA, carry your passports at all times and please, do not forget your credit caaaarrrrds..."
With that, the Tag Fairy disappeared in puff of lime green smoke! Our two heroines were left slightly dazed, confused but nonetheless consumed with an overwhelming desire to take a Girly trip together in June 2010. And overwhelming desires mean plans are made and flights are booked with extreme speed. Thoughtfully, the Tag Fairy had chosen to appear when British Airways were conducting a sale so our devoted DISters were able to bag a couple of return flights at a very nice price! In addition, as the Tag Fairy had conveniently timed her visit to coincide with the 7 month booking window, there was plenty of room at the DVC inn of their choice! So a 1 bedroom Lake View villa at Bay Lake Tower was promptly reserved with the minimum of fuss... The mysterious Advanced Dining Reservations rituals are yet to be observed and elusive Park Hours to be tracked down but Lady Claire, the Planning Diva renowned for her attention to detail, will be overseeing those matters and spreading the word as soon as she is able ...
Naturally an epic journey demands an epic title! A title to clearly and succinctly describe the road to be travelled. A title that will forever be synonymous with very essence of the escapade. Thinking caps with Mickey ears were perched on heads and many PMs sent back and forth... A combination of both DISnames 'The Pink Tarts' was abandoned immediately - seems these ladies are not those kind of ladies on that kind of trip! A variation on the infamous 'Bad Mothers' theme became the 'Bad Mouthers' but this too was ruled out on the grounds of unsuitability - who knew where the bad mouthing might lead!? 'CK One' required the wearing of mens underpants and unisex scent, whereas various other combinations of the initials 'K & C' were deemed too complex... Finally, after much Baileys on Ice, the simple title with the direct message that you see above occurred to the DISers simultaneously. Weirdly, they both confess to have been watching the advertisement for a well-known chain of chemists at the same time...
And so I shall leave you, dear reader, with the thoughts of one of those individuals the DISnamic duo will be leaving behind. A certain husband, when learning of the plans for World domination, shook his head sadly and raised his eyes to the heavens. "Can the Disney corporation possibly be ready for this invasion?"
