Heading for the beach - anybody know about Royal Mansions?

I saw the post asking about Daytona...actually, we had been
planning to spend a couple of days at Vero Beach at the end of
our next Disney trip (October 26-November 3, 2002). However,
we couldn't get availability we wanted at Vero. Our travel agent
suggested the Royal Mansions (condos) in Cape Canaveral. The
pictures (www.royalmansions.com) look really nice (although the
rooms look smaller than Vero, but it's cheaper too). Has anyone
stayed there or heard anything about them?

Hi MomB,

I hope you are having better weather than we are down here in SE MN.

Last August, my kids and I took a tirp to disney for l0 days. 3 days we spent on the spacecoast. We tried to get into Royal Mansions, but they were not available.

They seem to be a very popular place to stay. Hotel Kingdom has a good price for the Mansions. Someone said by calling the mansions directly to reserve a room, you might be able to get the entertianment if its available.

We ended up staying in Titusville at the Holiday Inn there. Very nice, clean comfortable rooms and close to the exit for KSC. However, no beach.

We did drive to Cocoa Beach, and we really did not care for the beach area at all. We like the beaches at New Symrna Beach north of Titusville between Daytona and Titusville. Much more family atmospher.

If you still want Vero, I wouldn't give up. Keep calling, something might open up.

Hi again, Hercamore! I don't know if the weather is better or worse here
than there, probably not much different than anywhere else in Minnesota.
Lots of late season snow! It seems to have ended, now mostly what's
left is shoveling out. Thank God for snowblowers!

Glad you enjoyed your trip to the spacecoast. We've done day trips
there before, but haven't stayed in the area. Thought it would be nice
to show the kids the ocean while we're there. (We do have the "big lake"
at home, but it's sure not the same!) We're fans of Mel Fisher's so will
definitely have to wander down to that area; we've been there before,
but the kids haven't. My husband will probably have to do NASA...AGAIN..
but the rest of us have had enough of it, I'm afraid.

Thanks for the info. Our travel agent is pretty sure we'll be able to get
space at the Mansions at this point, but if not, I'll keep your suggestions
in mind. They look like they're almost as nice as Vero, although they
don't have the restaurants and they're definitely not Disney, so they will
probably do. I don't mind saving a little money at this stage of the game,
but do want something beachfront if we can get it.

I see by your signature that your Disney trips are getting more and more
frequent as time goes by. You're fortunate that you're able to go twice in
one year! Wow! I don't think we'll ever make it that far, but we'll try to
get there as often as we can. (Our youngest will be 16 this year, so from
now on we keep saying we're going "kidless"; maybe that will help!):pinkbounc

mom b,

we stayed at royal mansions in a 2 bdrm unit (we booked thru hotelkingdom.com)last june for 3 nights after doing disney. i would highly recommend them. the place isnt brand new........but it's a great place to stay on a quiet area of the beach. it is located in a residential type area......not a hotel area. it is a well kept place. it is the best place that we did see in the area.......if you dont want a hotel type experience. i would definitely go back there again. i would also request an oceanview. as all these rooms have great views. their pool is very small, but they do have a hot tub. we loved walking on the beach in the evening......it was so uncrowded. there are restaurants within a short drive.

i would recommend, without any hesitation, this place for several days at the ocean and a trip to nasa.

if you have any questions i'll try to help.
