MAJOR changes to Genie+!

I’m so confused on how G+ isn’t working because “too many people are buying” it when they used to give fastpass for free to all for 3 rides and less people are buying G+ than those that received fastpass. Is it because people aren’t getting thr G+ rides they prefer? Or people want 5 rides for $15 instead of 2-3 rides? Or the lines aren’t fast enough? I’m lost.

3 FP+, sure, but *which* 3 FP+ are we talking about? Everyone wants the top tier rides. With free FP+ some people got in demand rides and some people got MuppetVision. Don't forget about FP+ Tiers too.

With *paid* Genie+, people forking over $15 are not going to happy with MuppetVision. People buying Genie+ are expecting to be able to book Slinky Dog or other in-demand rides, and when they can't there is going to be much higher dissatisfaction.

Possibly, but even our family, who pays for a deluxe Disney hotel every visit would not pay an additional $800 in one day. There is no way! Maybe some people would, but if they doubled Universals costs? $400 per person per day, $1600 for a family of four? I don't think that would be an instant sell out, quite the opposite. But then practically nobody would have it, giving us the same issue we have now - long standby lines.
This is what I was hoping G+ would be in the first place. It's priced way too low right now, so it's for the masses. They're getting their wish with us, booking VIP Tours far more regularly to avoid all of G+ annoyance.

Disney has removed the ability to purchase Genie+ in advance. You can only buy Genie+ day of visit, day by day. And there will be limited availability. So they might sell out on some days.

I'm betting that it becomes a priority purchase (advance ability to purchase) for deluxe and dvc guests (or added as a perk like Universal does) and a surge pricing model for the day of purchases.

Take a step back and look at the inanity of this thread and so many threads about similar issues. Why should we be having conversations like this about our vacations? I mean for those of us having visited Disney World for the last 15, 20, 25 years...how can any fan not be disappointed in the course they've taken. I mean sure you can say nothing stays the same blah blah blah...but is this version of Disney really making anyone happy? Do you love where Disney...specifically the park experience...is right now as compared to years past? Are you as a fan truly happy with the direction they are going? Sure you'll find the staunch apologist here and there, but if you honestly ask yourself am I as happy now with how the Disney World experience is set up as I used to be...I mean who can honestly answer yes? It's just sad and frustrating to know things are only getting more expensive, crowded, less offerings and harder to navigate and not the other way around. And the fact that the Disney brass sit atop their ivory tower and are so seemingly out of touch with the fan base is even more upsetting and jaw dropping.

I agree with a lot of what you said. It is sad what's happening to Disney. At the same time a lot of the changes are things they have always wanted to do. As much as everyone complains about the changes, they continue to fill the parks. Til people vote with their wallet nothing will change.

Im waiting for the

"genie will be able to purchase at 4.30am for Disney hotel guests and 9am for off site guests" Disney never ever sleeps now i think about it those amazon things will probably go off at 4.30

"Adds mickey voice" Hey gang its me mickey mouse its 4.30am wana buy the genie? be quick ahuh limted spaces.....dont want to get line ahuh magic awaits"

UK/IE/Europe websites have already sold 2023 packages with tickets that include genie+

What do you mean by that?

From June apparently you wont be able to book UK tickets with G+. The 2023 tickets already booked with it will still be valid. But new bookings wont be able to add it

Remember UK tickets get G+ discounted if you add it to length of stay its £6.99, About $8.80 rather than $15 on the day

Next UK promo will start on May 28th, I wonder if they will not propose G+ for those packages.

I bought our park hopper Genie+ tickets from underground tourist last night. I have been planning to use the stacking strategy for the second park. I hope Disney is not planning to do away with that next.

I had initially only purchased base tickets on undercover tourist for our trip in September. I had originally planned to just buy G+ for the two MK and DHS days. Instead, I definitely just panic-bought G+ for the five-day trip.

I’m not so sure, there are a lot more Deluxe Rooms and DVC Rooms than are at Universal.
1. There is also a lot more capacity at Disney between the four parks than at Universal.

2. They can still offer it as an advance purchase to those guests. My guess is that they will allow deluxe and DVC guests the option to purchase genie+ in advance at a discounted price (probably $15) and they will market this as a perk. While everyone else will now be stuck with day of purchases at an increased surge price.

Apparently I had to sleep on this before I realized the problem-

Disney can't cap G+ while also letting you add it in advance to tickets because of the way they sell tickets where you buy five days but you have eight days to use them. A bunch of people who already have it move their reservations around and they're over sold on a day- so now I'm picturing an airplane scenario where they try to get people to give back what they paid for buy offering vouchers for Dole Whip at rope drop.

Also, I apparently need to go back to sleep.

You build in a buffer for that. Well, if you were sensible you would...
